MWM Chapter 277

This entry is part 278 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“We don’t need weapons. Earth has nothing that can be truly powerful in the interstellar realm. If we have to talk about weapons, I am the biggest weapon on this ship.”

Leo admired the newly built spaceship and waved his hand dismissively as he replied.

Interstellar spaceships usually equipped laser cannons and energy weapons, similar to those used during the Chitauri invasion. Earth’s weapons, however, were still mainly physical and would struggle to be effective in space.

Instead of installing weapons on the ship, it was better to maximize the ship’s overall performance.

As for offensive weapons, what could be more powerful than him? If he couldn’t handle something, relying on the ship’s weapons would be pointless.

“That… makes sense.”

Hearing Leo’s words, Nebula paused for a moment, then recalled the terrifying power Leo had displayed when he took down the Chitauri mothership. She couldn’t help but twitch her lips.

“In that case, we can spend a few more hours making adjustments to improve the performance even further.”

“Great, go ahead and make the adjustments!”

After Nebula’s introduction, Leo took a tour inside the octopus-like spaceship and nodded in satisfaction.

“Looks like sparing these two sisters back then was indeed the right decision.”

The reason he didn’t kill Gamora and Nebula was partly because their nature wasn’t bad—they later became members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The other reason was to have guides for when he left Earth.

Movies often provided vague descriptions of major planets in the universe, but in reality, interstellar travel was not a simple matter.

As one of Thanos’s most capable subordinates, Gamora’s power couldn’t compare to the Black Order, but she was one of the best spies in the universe, similar to Black Widow.

The locations of the Power Stone and Soul Stone were both uncovered by Gamora.

Thus, she had extensive knowledge of various planets, black markets, and other aspects of the universe, making her a very competent guide.

As for Nebula, much of her body had been modified with machinery, and half her brain was an intelligent chip, storing vast amounts of useful knowledge. It was her collaboration with Ivan and the scientists that led to the creation of this octopus spaceship.

Although it couldn’t quite compare to the real spaceships out there, it could at least barely manage interstellar travel.

Especially with its hull made from a mixture of Vibranium and Uru metal, its defense capabilities were undoubtedly top-notch.

“Ivan, how’s the research on the spiritual energy gathering device going?”

After finishing the tour, Leo called Ivan aside.

After returning from the Xianxia world, he had taken the time to visit the Sokovia base, where Ivan and the others collected a portion of his True Qi for research to create a machine that could gather spiritual energy.

“Boss, we haven’t made any progress yet. With the machines we currently have, it’s difficult to analyze the kind of energy you provided in a short time.”

Ivan replied with a troubled expression.

“No worries, keep at it.”

Leo didn’t pressure Ivan after hearing his response and waved him off to continue his work.

“Looks like I’ll still need to visit other planets to bring back more advanced technology.”

Now that the system panel had been upgraded and there were no side quests to complete, it was the perfect time to take a preliminary tour of the universe and learn about the major civilizations.

Along the way, he could acquire more advanced machinery and technology to accelerate the biological and scientific research at his base.

……

“Wanda, how about we take an impromptu trip?”

After using the teleportation book to return to the wardrobe, Leo opened the door and asked Wanda, who was in the living room making snacks.

“Sure, where to?”

Upon hearing Leo suggest a trip, Wanda immediately dropped the whisk in her hand and nodded eagerly, like a pecking chick.

She loved the feeling of traveling with just the two of them. Lately, Leo had been taking her on trips using the teleportation key whenever he had free time.

They had visited the Grand Canyon in the northwest, the Great Wall at Badaling, Provence, Lake Baikal in Russia, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Niagara Falls, the Egyptian pyramids…

Sometimes they’d watch the sunrise at the Grand Canyon in the morning, enjoy lavender and wine in Provence by noon, and end the day at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Whenever Leo suggested an impromptu trip, Wanda would be thrilled, as it meant he had time to take her to explore new places.

Would it be the Great Barrier Reef in Australia this time? Or the Taj Mahal in India? Or perhaps the Aegean Sea in Greece?

“This time, we’re leaving Earth on a spaceship and heading to a planet called Xandar!”

While Wanda was pondering, Leo revealed the answer.

Why Xandar?

Because it was one of the few planets he had a clear memory of, home to the Nova Corps, and one of the most civilized and secure planets in the galaxy.

When he had asked Gamora earlier, she also recommended this planet.

Xandar was a multi-civilization planet, home not just to Xandarians but also to many other races from across the universe living together in peace.

It was also a major hub for interstellar trade, with a booming economy, and thanks to the Nova Corps, it was one of the safest planets in the galaxy.

Other similarly advanced planets, like the Kree Empire’s capital Hala or the Sovereign capital, were extremely xenophobic.

If you entered those planets without an official invitation, you could end up enslaved or killed in an instant.

Many other planets were either too far from the solar system or not developed enough, making them unsuitable for a first-time interstellar trip.

“Leaving Earth?”

Wanda blinked in surprise, her expression filled with disbelief.

She had been guessing which country or landmark they’d visit next, never expecting that they’d be leaving Earth for an alien planet.

Wasn’t that a bit too thrilling?

“Yes, remember the last time the aliens invaded?”

Leo briefly explained how he had subdued the two aliens, Gamora and Nebula, and shared some of the information he had learned from Gamora about the alien planets, alongside his own recollections.

When he finished, Wanda spun around, and her casual home clothes magically transformed into her usual travel outfit.

“Let’s go, darling, I can’t wait any longer!”

“Then let’s head out!”

Leo smiled as he pulled out the teleportation book. Pages scattered and wrapped around the two of them, and they vanished from the room. When they reappeared, they were already in the science hall of the Sokovia base.

While waiting for Nebula and the team of scientists to make final adjustments to the octopus spaceship, Leo made a few calls to his subordinates and friends to give them some instructions.

Unlike entering small worlds, where time in the main world remained unchanged, leaving Earth meant he’d be gone for at least several months. He needed to make some preparations.
