- MWM Chapter 295
“How about this—Jiraiya will probably take a month or two to bring Tsunade back. Lord Danzo, take your time to think it over. Once you’ve made your decision, just send someone to notify me.”
Seeing that Danzo was deep in thought, Leo stood up. The fact that Danzo didn’t immediately reject the offer meant that he was interested, and if he was interested, it was only a matter of time before he agreed.
Danzo needed a variable to disrupt the Third Hokage’s control over the village, and Leo was offering himself as that variable. Even if Danzo suspected there might be ulterior motives, he had no choice but to agree if he wanted change.
Moreover, Leo had six months in this world, and this was only the first day—he wasn’t in a hurry.
“Escort the prince out!” Danzo ordered.
Danzo made no move to stop Leo from leaving, as this decision was too important to be made hastily. He needed time to gather his thoughts and have someone investigate Leo’s connections in the capital of the Land of Fire.
After leaving the Root base, Leo used Apparition to teleport back to his residence and went straight to sleep. It had only been the first day since he entered this world, but he had already accomplished a lot.
The next morning, just as Leo was leaving his house, intending to go to the Hokage’s office to discuss learning more jutsu with the Third Hokage, a young man dressed as a merchant appeared and blocked his path.
“Your Highness, I have urgent information,” the young merchant said, respectfully handing a rolled-up scroll to Leo.
The merchant was the manager of one of the Chuan stores in the nearby town, a few kilometers from Konoha. Upon receiving the information, he had rushed to the village as quickly as possible.
Konoha had shops that catered to basic needs and ninja-related items, but for more extensive shopping, most villagers and ninjas went to the bustling town of Shukuba-machi, located five kilometers outside the village.
“I see,” Leo replied, waving his hand to dismiss the merchant as he opened the scroll and began reading it while walking.
After reading the message, he shook his head slightly and muttered to himself, “Kakuzu, it looks like you’ll be joining Hidan sooner than expected.”
It turned out that Itachi had relayed information to the Chuan store about the Akatsuki meeting held the night before. Leo now knew that Kakuzu and Tobi were planning to head to the Fire Temple to kill his first master, Chiriku.
Folding the scroll away, Leo continued toward the Hokage’s office.
Upon meeting the Third Hokage, after some casual conversation, the Third handed Leo several scrolls containing various jutsu, advising him to study on his own and come back if he had any questions.
The Third was still Hokage, with many official duties to attend to, so he didn’t have the time to personally teach Leo.
Leo didn’t mind. In fact, he preferred this method—it was the most efficient way for him to learn. With his current level of mastery over jutsu and his use of Shadow Clones for studying, he didn’t need extensive guidance. If he encountered a particularly tricky problem, he could always ask the Third later.
With a stack of jutsu scrolls in hand, Leo returned to his residence. However, instead of diving right into studying, he used his teleportation book to return to the prince’s mansion in the capital. There, he quickly crafted dozens of portal keys, instructing Kina to distribute them to various outposts.
He also ordered Kina to personally head to the town at the base of the Fire Temple and have someone keep watch. Any developments should be reported immediately.
Although Chiriku was strong, against Kakuzu, who had five lives and could use advanced ninjutsu of all five elemental natures, his chances of winning were slim.
Not to mention that Tobi, who was far more dangerous, would also be there, disguised as an inexperienced Akatsuki member.
Even though Tobi only had one Mangekyo Sharingan, its spatial manipulation abilities made him incredibly dangerous. If an opponent couldn’t quickly figure out his abilities, they could easily be killed. Furthermore, with the cells of Hashirama Senju in his body, Tobi could use powerful Wood Release techniques and mitigate the burden of using the Mangekyo.
…
**Seven days later, at the Sarutobi compound in Konoha.**
Leo was rapidly studying the five-element jutsu he had received from the Third Hokage, using the power of his Shadow Clones to accelerate the process. Suddenly, a slim figure appeared in the closet space through a distortion in the air.
It was Kina, arriving through one of the portal keys Leo had given her.
“Your Highness, there’s trouble at the Fire Temple. Two strange individuals are fighting Master Chiriku.”
“They actually went there,” Leo said, dismissing his Shadow Clones before grabbing Kina and teleporting to the Chuan store in the town below the Fire Temple.
“You can head back now. Just leave a few people here to keep an eye on things,” Leo instructed Kina before vanishing with Apparition, reappearing inside the Fire Temple.
By the time Leo arrived, the Fire Temple’s strongest defensive barrier, the Iron Wall Seal, had already been broken by Kakuzu. Outside the temple, Chiriku was fighting Kakuzu’s five-elemental combination jutsu using his Immoveable Wisdom King technique.
However, it was clear that Chiriku was struggling.
The monks of the Fire Temple, unable to intervene in such a high-level battle, could only gather anxiously at the temple gate.
“Brother!”
Sora, standing at the back of the group, suddenly sensed someone behind him. When he turned and saw Leo, his face lit up with joy.
The other monks also turned, their faces filled with hope when they saw Leo.
Though Leo hadn’t stayed long at the Fire Temple, his talent was extraordinary, and aside from Chiriku, none of the monks could defeat him in practice matches.
Seeing Leo appear, they began to feel a glimmer of hope.
“Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, Master won’t be harmed,” Leo reassured them with a wave of his hand before stepping forward.
“This is all you’ve got? Then you can die now. Blame your high bounty—and your disciple for swindling me out of a lot of money.”
Kakuzu created some distance, dodging Chiriku’s red chakra fists from the Immoveable Wisdom King technique. His right hand sprouted three masks, each representing a different element, as he prepared for his final attack.
“Elemental Combination: Ultimate Blast!”
The three masks unleashed Wind Release, Fire Release, and Lightning Release chakra, which merged into a massive chakra blast aimed directly at Chiriku.
In the course of their battle, Kakuzu had figured out Chiriku’s weakness: his technique made him immobile. By unleashing an attack of sufficient power, Kakuzu could break through Chiriku’s defense and end the fight in one blow.
“Go, Kakuzu! You’re the best! Go, go, go!” Tobi cheered from behind, bouncing around and waving two folding fans as he encouraged Kakuzu.
“This is bad!”
Sensing the terrifying chakra emanating from Kakuzu’s attack, Chiriku’s eyes widened. He quickly shifted his Immoveable Wisdom King form, which was designed for offense, to the defensive Thousand-Hand Kannon mode.
