- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 322
Seeing the scar-faced Ravager embedded in the wall, most of the other Ravagers burst into laughter. Fights, brawls, and deaths were common occurrences here, and as long as it wasn’t one of their own crew, they were all too happy to watch the drama unfold.
Some even started taking bets on how many of Leo’s group would die by the end of the day.
However, a small group of Ravagers, their faces darkening, drew their weapons and began walking aggressively toward Leo and his companions. They were members of the scar-faced Ravager’s team. It wasn’t that they cared for him, but in the world of Ravagers, if one of your team was killed and you didn’t react, you’d lose all credibility.
“Magic: Tree Binding Death!”
Leo’s right eye spun, and the approaching Ravagers let out cries of shock as they were instantly frozen in place, unable to move, struggling and shouting.
“What is this? Where did these trees come from? I’m stuck!” they yelled in confusion.
The other Ravagers, who had been laughing moments before, fell silent and took several steps back, their faces full of shock.
They had assumed the scar-faced Ravager had simply been kicked by Leo, and hadn’t paid much attention. After all, brute strength was common enough in the universe. But strength alone didn’t make someone invincible—could they withstand a blast from an energy gun?
Yet this was different. None of them had seen Leo make any noticeable move, and suddenly dozens of armed Ravagers were immobilized, trapped in some strange magic. Clearly, this man had special abilities, the kind that made him highly dangerous—just the kind of person you didn’t want to provoke because you never knew what their abilities could do. One wrong move, and you could be dead.
At that moment, Kakara hurried over, panting, and said, “Boss, Yondu came back yesterday. He’s resting upstairs in one of the private rooms.”
“I see,” Leo nodded, already knowing this from the words of the scar-faced Ravager.
He was sure that Yondu would come down soon to find him, as many of the Ravagers he had trapped in his illusion were likely part of Yondu’s crew.
Sure enough, after a couple of minutes, Yondu descended the stairs in his long leather coat. However, his face was filled with anger.
“Kakara, how dare you touch my men!” Yondu shouted. As he whistled, his red-tipped Yaka arrow flew out from his belt, circling once in the air before hovering menacingly in front of Kakara’s forehead.
Kakara, his legs going weak, stammered, “Yondu, let’s talk about this, let’s talk!”
Although the mind control from the scepter altered their will, it didn’t change their personalities or abilities. Even though Yondu had been expelled from the Ravagers, his strength and influence still ranked among the top few out of over a hundred factions. Only the leader, Stakar, and a few others stood above him, so most Ravagers were still afraid of Yondu.
“Your men were being impolite, so I gave them a little lesson. Maybe I was too harsh. I hope you can forgive me, Yondu,” Leo said calmly, releasing his illusion and reaching for the Yaka arrow hovering near Kakara’s forehead.
Yondu wasn’t about to let anyone touch his weapon, and with a sharp whistle, the arrow zipped toward Leo’s head. But to Yondu’s surprise, no matter how fast his arrow was, Leo’s hand was faster. Before the arrow could make its move, Leo had already caught it.
When Yondu tried to force the arrow from Leo’s grasp with all his strength, the arrow, which could lift and carry multiple people, flashed with red light but didn’t budge from Leo’s hand.
The onlookers, including Yondu’s crew, were stunned. Yondu’s Yaka arrow was notorious among the Ravagers, having single-handedly taken down hundreds of elite Kree soldiers—each armed to the teeth. It was part of the reason so many still flocked to Yondu, even after he was expelled from the Ravagers. Yet here was this stranger, holding the Yaka arrow as if it were nothing.
“This thing looks expensive. It’d be a shame if I broke it,” Leo said with a smile as he gently returned the arrow to Yondu’s holster.
Yondu, now fully serious, asked, “Who are you? You don’t look like you’re part of Kakara’s crew.”
Yondu knew Kakara well. Despite being an old hand in the Ravagers, Kakara was known for being cowardly and only engaging in small-time operations. His crew was among the weakest of all Ravager teams. There was no way someone as powerful as Leo could be part of such a crew.
Yondu’s question mirrored the thoughts of the other Ravagers watching. Who exactly was this formidable stranger?
Leo smiled and blurted out, “We… uh… we’re here to prevent the destruction of the universe, to uphold peace and justice. We are… the Guardians of the Galaxy!”
This was the Guardians of the Galaxy’s debut, and just stating the name felt a bit lacking in flair. Leo felt the occasion called for a dramatic slogan, and this one popped into his head, though he couldn’t quite remember where it came from. It just felt familiar, so he went with it.
“I’m Leo,” he introduced himself, then looked at Wanda.
Though caught off guard, Wanda quickly added, “Wanda!” Then she instinctively looked at Gamora and Nebula.
The two sisters exchanged a glance and reluctantly chimed in.
“Gamora.”
“Nebula.”
To be honest, they couldn’t explain why, but something about the name and the slogan Leo had come up with felt… less than impressive. When they spoke their names, they even felt a strange sense of embarrassment.
“Guardians of the Galaxy, bringing love and justice?” Yondu repeated, clearly at a loss for words. The ambition of maintaining peace in the universe seemed absurdly grand. And he’d never heard of such a group before.
Given Leo’s display of power, Yondu didn’t make any rash moves. Instead, he called one of his crew members over.
“Kraglin, what the hell just happened here?”
A skinny Ravager named Kraglin stepped forward and began explaining the events that had just transpired.
