MWM Chapter 323

This entry is part 324 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“Kraglin.”

Looking at the skinny Ravager, Leo immediately recalled that Kraglin was actually one of the members he needed to recruit for the advanced completion of his mission. However, since he had now decided to aim for the intermediate completion, he no longer needed to recruit this guy.

“So it was all a misunderstanding. How about we sit down, have a drink, and make some friends?”

After hearing Kraglin explain the entire situation, Yondu’s eyes narrowed, and his attitude did a complete 180-degree shift.

It was clear that his subordinate had been the one to provoke the other side without cause, and the dead man was someone who often challenged Yondu’s authority anyway. So, his death wasn’t much of a loss.

Moreover, Leo had given him a way out, releasing his crew as soon as Yondu appeared and speaking politely, showing no intention of escalating the conflict further.

Of course, the main reason for Yondu’s change in tone was Leo’s strength, which made him unpredictable. In the Ravagers, the strong were respected, and since Leo was clearly strong, everyone could accept letting this incident go.

No one wanted the entire team to risk destruction over the mistake of one member.

If Leo had been weak, even if Yondu’s men had been at fault, they would have made him pay dearly—perhaps by breaking his limbs or forcing him to pay to save his life.

“Haha, I’ve heard that Yondu is a reasonable man, and it seems your reputation is well-earned,” Leo said with a smile. “How about this: I’ll treat you all, and I also have a business proposition I’d like to discuss. Let’s find a quiet spot to chat.”

Seeing Yondu’s change in attitude, Leo responded with a friendly grin.

Since Yondu was willing to take the diplomatic route, Leo wouldn’t push things further. After all, if a peaceful resolution was possible, he preferred it. Force was a last resort.

This wasn’t Earth, and while Leo was strong, there were beings in the universe even stronger. Being too arrogant would eventually lead to a bad end.

Moments later, what had nearly escalated into a violent confrontation became a scene of camaraderie as the two groups laughed and walked into the town together.

“Mr. Leo, what kind of business were you talking about earlier?” Yondu asked once they were seated in a relatively quiet establishment in town.

Without wasting time, Leo replied, “I want to hire you to help me find a few people.”

“Finding people? You could simply put out a bounty on the dark web. As long as the price is right, every Ravager and bounty hunter would be more than willing to help you find them,” Yondu said, raising an eyebrow.

Leo smiled. “Of course, I know that. But posting a bounty on the dark web requires photos, and I don’t have any. I only know some general descriptions.”

In this universe, there was something similar to the dark web. In the movies, when Star-Lord betrayed Yondu and tried to sell the Orb to a black market dealer, Yondu had placed a bounty on him through such a network, which had led to Rocket and Groot’s attempt to capture Star-Lord.

“No photos? That does make things trickier. The universe is a big place. It’ll take some serious connections and resources to find them,” Yondu said, making the universal hand gesture for money.

Leo responded generously, “There are three people in total. I’ll pay ten million for each person you find. You don’t need to capture them—just tell me their exact location.”

Leo had learned a lot about the universe from Gamora and Nebula. The ten million units of universal currency he was offering for each target was a substantial amount, even for the Ravagers, who would have to pull off several big heists to make that kind of money.

For context, Yondu had only put a bounty of forty thousand on Star-Lord back in the day.

“Deal! I’ll use all my contacts and personally get involved in the search. I guarantee we’ll find them in under a month,” Yondu said with a hearty laugh, slapping the table.

Thirty million was a fortune. Even after splitting some of it with his information dealers, Yondu stood to make a handsome profit with virtually no risk involved.

“Great. Here’s a piece of Uru metal from Nidavellir. It should be enough as a down payment.”

Leo pulled a fist-sized chunk of Uru metal from his pouch and placed it on the table in front of Yondu.

He had asked Gamora about the value of Uru, and she had confirmed that even in the universe, it was highly prized. This chunk alone was worth at least ten million, and its rarity meant it could fetch an even higher price.

“Uru metal!” Yondu’s face lit up with surprise. He immediately gestured for an older Ravager, who pulled out a scanner and examined the metal. After a few moments, the elder Ravager nodded in confirmation.

“I didn’t expect you to have connections with Asgard,” Yondu said with a grin.

Asgard was a legendary realm in the universe, renowned for its power. The cosmos, shaped by the Celestials over countless millennia, was home to many deities of varying strength. But Asgard’s gods were among the mightiest.

If not for Odin’s decision to halt his conquests after uniting the Nine Realms and sealing away his daughter, Hela, the political landscape of the universe might be very different today.

Even the Kree Empire, one of the most powerful civilizations in the universe, dared not provoke Asgard.

And Uru metal, mined by the dwarves of Nidavellir and said to be forgeable only by the Dwarf King, was incredibly rare and valuable, even in Asgard. In the rest of the universe, it was practically priceless.

“I’m good friends with Thor, their Crown Prince,” Leo said casually, smiling.

Whether it was Uru metal, Vibranium, or the “Life Number One” serum that could regenerate limbs, all of these were incredibly valuable in the universe. Selling them on the black market would never be an issue.

Thanks to Wanda and his company, his pouch was overflowing with such treasures.

Sometimes, Leo couldn’t help but feel that marrying Wanda had been like hitting the jackpot.

It also confirmed just how potent Chthon’s Chaos Magic really was.

After all, beings like Chthon, who operated at the level of a multiversal entity, gained power by consuming entire universes. Compared to that, Uru metal and Vibranium were small potatoes.

“Oh, by the way, I have one more question for you, Yondu. If you answer honestly, I’ll throw in another million.”
