MWM Chapter 327

This entry is part 328 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“It doesn’t matter, money is not an issue!” Leo casually waved his hand.

The evolution of life shares many common traits, and once intelligence develops, so do various desires. Just like humans on Earth, intelligent beings from different planets in the universe also seek rare and beautiful valuable items, such as diamonds, gold, and gemstones. While the names may differ, the essence remains the same.

And these non-energy-related items are precisely the easiest to transform with magic. At least, they’re much easier than materials like Uru metal or Vibranium.

In the black market on Contraxia, Leo had discovered many such rare items that had become absurdly expensive due to their rarity. Wanda could easily use Transfiguration to create them. So, truly, he wasn’t lacking in money.

“Well… alright then,” Star-Lord sighed inwardly. How could there be such a vast difference between two humans born on the same planet?

In his mind, Earth had always been a very backward planet, and human technology and civilization were far behind compared to every other planet he’d encountered. On the galactic species danger level, Earth’s humans had earned an “honor” of nearly zero threat level.

But with Leo, everything seemed different. Not only was he shockingly powerful, even someone like Yondu was cautious around him, but he was also incredibly rich.

With Star-Lord leading the way, the group disembarked from the ship and took Xandar’s free public transportation to the real estate office in the capital city.

All public transportation on Xandar was free of charge, without drivers, and entirely operated by intelligent systems. Of course, these systems weren’t true sentient beings with emotions and wisdom but advanced programs, much like Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S.

In the Galactic Law, true sentient beings were not allowed to exist. The universe had long reached a high level of technological advancement, and while it was certainly possible to develop sentient life, like the robots made by the Auger Corporation, it posed a massive risk.

There were numerous past incidents where intelligent life had led to the destruction of entire planets.

Though it’s not entirely forbidden, for example, the Supreme Intelligence of the Kree Empire is an intelligent lifeform created by the Kree. It incorporates the wisdom of all Kree people, and every Kree’s memories are absorbed into it upon their death.

However, the Kree Empire was too powerful for galactic law to govern. The law mandates that civilizations in the galaxy coexist peacefully and not invade other planets, but the Kree Empire continued its expansion and invasions regardless.

Sixteen years ago, the Kree Empire, powerful as ever, even wiped out the Skrull Empire, the second most powerful empire in the galaxy. They have also been engaged in a long-standing interstellar war with the Nova Empire.

It is because of the existence of the Supreme Intelligence that the Nova Empire and other galactic civilizations are so adamant about preventing the development of intelligent lifeforms. From their perspective, the Kree Empire is essentially controlled by an AI.

“Galactic Frontline, breaking news: In the X-Z352 region, the Nova Empire fleet has dealt a heavy blow to the Kree Empire’s main fleet. The Supreme Intelligence of the Kree Empire is rumored to be considering halting its invasion of the Nova Empire.

According to Dr. Brasiil, the Kree Empire, after a long war with the Skrull Empire, though victorious, has suffered significant depletion of its forces. Similarly, the Nova Empire is unwilling to continue an extended war that could disrupt galactic peace. If the Supreme Intelligence seeks peace, it is likely that the Nova Prime will agree to sign a peace treaty…”

A holographic projection of a red-skinned alien woman was delivering the latest news about the conflict between the Nova Empire and the Kree Empire inside the public vehicle.

Sitting comfortably in his seat, Leo muttered to himself as he heard the report, “So, Ronan’s defection should be coming soon.”

He had learned from Gamora that even before she and her sister were sent to Earth to retrieve the Space Stone, Thanos had already allied with Ronan of the Kree Empire.

Ronan, the Supreme Accuser, was one of the most prestigious Kree nobles, commanding one of the Kree’s top-tier capital ships, the Dark Aster, and countless Ghost ships.

Dissatisfied with the Supreme Intelligence’s rule and the peace treaty with the Nova Empire, Ronan led his loyal forces in rebellion. He openly promised Thanos to destroy Xandar in exchange for the Power Stone, while secretly planning to use the Power Stone’s power to conquer the galaxy.

Ultimately, he was thwarted by Star-Lord in an absurd dance-off that distracted him, allowing the Guardians of the Galaxy to seize the Power Stone and defeat him.

Though unreliable, Star-Lord had a knack for pulling off miracles. In seemingly unwinnable situations, he could sometimes turn the tide, but in a guaranteed victory, he might also mess things up spectacularly.

The reason Leo had thought of Ronan was that he was eyeing Ronan’s Dark Aster. Once Ronan defected from the Kree Empire, he would become a criminal. If Leo defeated Ronan and took the Dark Aster, the Kree couldn’t say much.

Handled well, the Nova Empire would even hail him as a hero.

With a capital-class ship, Leo would have a foothold in the universe, and many things would become much easier to accomplish.

The public vehicle moved swiftly, and within ten minutes, they arrived at their destination.

Stepping off the vehicle, a stunning futuristic city unfolded before them.

If New York was considered an advanced modern city, bustling with skyscrapers and people hard at work, then Xandar was a beautiful paradise where technology and nature had harmonized perfectly.

Without ground vehicles, thanks to the air-based public transport, the city didn’t need complex road networks. Instead, it was filled with sleek, technologically advanced buildings, lush greenery, crystal-clear artificial streams, and fountains.

Various aliens of different skin tones and appearances strolled leisurely along the streets, chatting and laughing, appearing utterly content and carefree.

Looking up, Leo noticed the distant bridges were not designed for crossing roads but were scenic viewpoints, with tables set up for people to sip tea and enjoy snacks.

“What’s that for?” Wanda asked curiously, pointing toward a massive, almost entirely metal cylindrical landmark building in the distance.

“That’s the headquarters of the Nova Corps. Their leader, Nova Prime, is said to work at the top floor,” Star-Lord explained with a shrug after glancing at the building.
