MWM Chapter 341

This entry is part 342 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Ten days later, a red planet slightly smaller than the moon appeared in front of the Milano.

“Captain, the coordinates match. This should be Ego’s planet,” Nebula, sitting in the co-pilot seat, reported.

On the other side, Rocket, who was also in the co-pilot seat, couldn’t resist making a snide remark:

“Quill, your father sure is massive!”

“I don’t have a father like that, and if you call him my father again, I’ll blast your triangular face off with my elemental blaster,” Star-Lord shouted from the pilot seat, pointing at Rocket.

Rocket raised his hands defensively:

“But he *is* your father, Star-Turd, and that’s a fact you can’t deny.”

“It’s Star-Lord, you little raccoon!” Star-Lord shot him the middle finger.

After ten days of travel, the relationship between the crew had become more “harmonious.”

“Alright, we’re about to land. Remember the plan. Quill, mind your attitude—don’t let Ego suspect anything.

Gamora, stick with Quill and remind him if he starts to lose control.

If he really can’t hold back, you have my permission to give him a couple of slashes with your knife,” Leo advised once more, exasperated.

Star-Lord had a notorious reputation for being unreliable, especially when his emotions got the better of him. Leo wasn’t taking any chances, especially with Ego. The last thing they needed was for Quill to shoot at Ego the moment he saw him.

“Don’t worry, I’d be more than happy to stick a knife in him,” Gamora replied seriously, drawing her alloy blade from her waist.

Star-Lord pouted, looking hurt:

“Captain, how can you not trust me? I’m not Drax!

Besides, I grew up among Ravagers—lying is my specialty!”

“What? Were you talking about me?” Drax, munching on a sack of Zarg nuts, entered the control room just in time to hear Quill’s last comment.

Star-Lord immediately switched gears:

“Uh, yeah! We were saying you’re incredibly smart!”

“I *am* smart, but not because I’m bald. Our species just doesn’t grow hair,” Drax replied, tossing another Zarg nut into his mouth, slightly annoyed.

Star-Lord quickly explained:

“It’s just a figure of speech, like saying something goes in one ear and out the other—it doesn’t mean we’re making fun of your bald head.”

“Nothing goes into my ears. My reflexes are too fast; I would catch it,” Drax said, crushing a Zarg nut in his hand, looking serious.

The room fell silent at his words.

Shaking his head, Leo turned and walked to the ship’s lounge, where Wanda was offering Groot a taste of the new dessert she had created during their space travels.

“Wanda, we’re almost at Ego’s planet. Once we land, if anything seems off, make sure you prioritize your safety.”

At the moment, Wanda hadn’t yet mastered the dark chaos magic from the Darkhold. While she wasn’t weak, there was still a risk if she wasn’t fully unleashed in battle. Leo had made it clear that her priority was to protect herself before assisting in the fight against Ego.

“Don’t worry, after training with you for so long, I feel much stronger. I’ve even been practicing with my throwing knives in my spare time. If that Ego tries anything, I’ll tear his planet in half!” Wanda said with a fierce determination.

Meanwhile, inside Ego’s temple.

Ego, in his human form, was having his daughter Mantis use her empathic powers to help him sleep.

For years, he had sought countless offspring, yet none had inherited his Celestial power. This had delayed his grand plan, leaving him restless. Only Mantis’s abilities could calm his mind and give him some peace.

That was why he hadn’t killed her.

“Impossible!”

Suddenly, Ego sensed something and immediately sat up in bed, his eyes wide open.

“Master, what’s wrong?” Mantis asked, stepping back in fear as she withdrew her hands.

But Ego laughed heartily:

“This is wonderful! Finally, one of my children has inherited my power! Mantis, come with me to meet my true child!”

With a wave of his hand, a beautiful white platform appeared beneath them, lifting Ego and Mantis as they sped out of the temple.

Moments later, they spotted a ship approaching from the distance.

“It’s a Ravager ship—it must be Yondu. He’s the only one who knows my location.”

Recognizing the ship, Ego quickly guessed what had happened.

Yondu had delivered most of his children to him over the years, so Ego was familiar with Ravager ships. But then, for some reason, Yondu had broken their deal and stopped showing up, leaving Ego to collect the remaining children himself—none of whom had inherited his powers.

Now, it seemed that Yondu had found the one child who had, but hadn’t delivered him.

The ship landed, and as the hatch opened, eight figures emerged one by one. Among them was a human male in his thirties, the source of the familiar power Ego had sensed—the only child to inherit his power.

Just as Ego was about to approach for a reunion, the man suddenly ran toward him with enthusiasm, throwing his arms around him in a tight embrace.

“Father! Father! You must be my father!” Star-Lord clung to Ego, pretending to be overwhelmed with excitement, while his hands pounded Ego’s back with enough force to almost knock him over—if it weren’t for Gamora pinching his waist to get him to calm down.

“Yes, I am your father. I can sense the same power within you. How did you find me?” Ego asked, unfazed by Star-Lord’s show of force.

“I have a long story to tell, Father. Twenty-three years ago, Yondu kidnapped me from Earth. He made me suffer, forced me to fight and steal for him, and even threatened to eat me if I didn’t behave,” Star-Lord began to pour out his grievances, grabbing Ego’s hand.

“It wasn’t until recently that I learned the truth—that it was you, my father, who hired Yondu to find me. But those Ravagers betrayed you and never brought me to you.

So, my friends and I—yeah, these seven—fought Yondu and forced him to tell us your location. And now, we’re here,” Star-Lord said, gesturing to his companions.

“That bastard Yondu!” Ego cursed, then with another wave of his hand, extended the platform beneath them so the entire group could stand on it. He carried everyone toward the temple.

“Come, join me in my temple, and we can talk in peace.”
