- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 357
The Kido Family Mansion, Second Floor.
“In truth, the purpose of the Galactic Tournament was never to have you compete for the Gold Cloth. It was a trap, a trap meant to lure out a demon.”
Saori Kido slowly revealed the words her grandfather Mitsumasa Kido had once told her, as everyone gathered in the room.
“A trap? A demon?”
Saori’s words left Seiya and the others completely bewildered.
“Yes, my grandfather once said that the Gold Cloth possesses immense power. If a demon were to seize it, it would plunge the entire world into disaster. The purpose of this Galactic Tournament was to draw out that demon.
Years ago, when he sent you all to different parts of the world to acquire your Cloths, it was in the hope that you would now help me confront the demon that covets the Gold Cloth.”
At this point, Saori Kido was still unaware that she was Athena or of her true lineage. She was merely repeating her grandfather Mitsumasa Kido’s final words.
“So, according to what you’re saying, Sanctuary is the demon?”
Seiya furrowed his brows.
He had spent six years in Sanctuary. While he faced discrimination there, it didn’t seem to be something as evil as a demon.
Besides, Sanctuary in Greece was the origin of the Saints, protected by the Pope and Athena. How could it possibly be a demon?
“Maybe it’s just that counselor Gigas, acting out of personal greed.”
At this moment, Leo pretended to speculate aloud.
He knew that the true mastermind was Gemini Saga, and that Gigas was merely one of Saga’s pawns. Thirteen years ago, Saga had assassinated Pope Shion and Shion’s brother, Ares.
For years, Saga had been masquerading as Shion, maintaining the appearance of a kind and benevolent Pope, while secretly cultivating loyal Silver Saints and even enlisting a few Gold Saints to his cause.
Now, having discovered the Sagittarius Gold Cloth and Athena’s true form through the Galactic Tournament, Saga couldn’t remain idle any longer.
However, Leo couldn’t reveal this directly. If word got to the Gold Saints, it would be difficult to explain. After all, how could a mere Saint trainee like him know such classified information?
Currently, only a few people in the world knew the truth: Saga, the three Gold Saints he had recruited, Libra Dohko, who guarded the prison of stars on Mount Five Old Peaks, and Mu, the apprentice of Pope Shion who had inherited the Aries Gold Cloth.
Oh, and there was also Tatsumi, the butler standing beside Saori Kido.
However, even they weren’t as fully aware of the truth as Leo. They only knew that the current Pope was no longer Shion and that he had been replaced by Gemini Saga.
“From now on, I will mobilize all the resources of the Kido Foundation to investigate Sanctuary. The Gold Cloth is linked to the fate of the world, and I ask all of you to help me protect it!”
Saori stood in front of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth, looking at everyone with a serious expression.
“If what you’re saying is true, of course, we’ll help you stop those seeking to take the Gold Cloth. But I have a suggestion.”
Seiya was the first to step forward.
Tatsumi, however, was immediately displeased:
“Mister Kido sent you all out into the world for this very moment! You just need to follow Miss Saori’s orders. No suggestions allowed!”
Seiya didn’t even glance at Tatsumi, keeping his eyes fixed on Saori.
Saori, understanding Seiya’s intent, firmly ordered Tatsumi:
“Tatsumi, from now on, you are not allowed to speak. If you continue, pack your things and leave.”
Tatsumi, shocked, quickly covered his mouth.
“Seiya, what’s your suggestion?”
After dealing with Tatsumi, Saori turned back to Seiya.
Seiya, without hesitation, replied:
“If Sanctuary is really the enemy, then the coming battles will be extremely difficult. Rather than having the Gold Cloth sit here as a display, we should let Brother Leo wear it.
Brother Leo is already the strongest among us. With the Gold Cloth, he’d be even stronger, and we’d stand a much better chance of victory!”
“Well said, Seiya. After a few days, I’ll help you find your sister!”
Leo kept his expression unchanged, but internally, he was overjoyed.
This had to be said by someone, but it couldn’t come from him. Having Seiya bring it up was perfect.
“I have no objections!”
Hyoga, leaning against the door with his arms crossed, nodded.
If it weren’t for Leo’s intervention today, they would’ve all died at Ikki’s hands. In a way, Leo had saved his life.
As proud as Hyoga was, he didn’t like owing people favors.
Moreover, Hyoga didn’t care much for the Gold Cloth. While it was indeed powerful, his Cygnus Cloth was something he had earned through years of hard training and recognition.
As for Shun, he had even less of an issue. After all, his return was primarily to see his brother.
“This…”
Hearing this, Saori hesitated.
While the logic was sound, in her heart, she didn’t trust Leo nearly as much as she trusted Seiya and the others.
No matter how harsh their words, Seiya and the others had known each other since childhood. She understood their personalities well, and they were the protectors that her grandfather had arranged for her.
Though Leo had saved her this time, she didn’t know him that well.
“Miss Saori, you don’t need to be troubled. While I don’t have a Cloth yet, and I am indeed interested in the Gold Cloth, I don’t like to force things or gain something in this way.
But rest assured, Miss Saori. Seiya is my friend, and if the Gold Cloth truly concerns the safety of the world, I will still fight alongside you to the end.
When you believe I am truly worthy of the Gold Cloth, then I will gladly accept it!”
Seeing Saori’s dilemma, Leo stepped forward with a smile, helping her out of her predicament.
What he wanted was for Saori to willingly offer him the Gold Cloth with her full trust, making him the new Sagittarius Saint. It wouldn’t be right if she gave it to him out of pressure.
If he received it that way, it would merely be a heavy suit of armor with decent defense, offering no significant boost to his strength.
His goal was to plant the idea in Saori’s mind that if he showed the same dedication as Seiya and the others in protecting her, and proved himself to be just and kind, she could entrust him with the Gold Cloth.
“Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Leo!”
Saori let out a slight sigh of relief at Leo’s words, and her impression of him improved.
Leo smiled and replied:
“There’s no need to be so formal. You can just call me Leo or Leo.”
“Then everyone, stay here for the next few days and recover. If we get any news from Sanctuary, I will let you know.”
Seeing no further objections, Saori turned to Tatsumi:
“We have guests these days. Tell the kitchen to prepare more elaborate meals.”
