- MWM Chapter 383
“What should we do now? Should we sneak into the base and look for an opportunity to kill the High Evolutionary?” Star-Lord asked excitedly.
After half a month of adjustment, he had gradually learned how to use the celestial power within him and was eager to find a chance to test his abilities.
“No need to sneak around. We’ll just walk in openly,” Leo said with a smile, waving his hand.
If he remembered correctly, the High Evolutionary usually didn’t stay at Org Group’s main base but was instead hidden in a place called Counter-Earth.
The High Evolutionary was a cosmic philosopher from Earth in the 1930s who was obsessed with understanding the complexities of evolution. He accidentally left Earth and ventured into the universe, where he used his invention, the biological accelerator, to create the Org Group, absorbing the technologies of various civilizations and growing the Org Group into its current scale.
His ideal was to create a perfect world and perfect beings.
Thus, using the Org Group’s powerful technology, he secretly modified a planet in the galaxy, transforming it into an exact replica of Earth and naming it Counter-Earth.
The cities on this planet were identical to those on Earth, and its technological level and cultural style were frozen in the 1930s. The inhabitants were all humanoid animals that he had evolved from regular animals.
Most of the time, he stayed on Counter-Earth, continuing his experiments and observing the life he had created, as if he were playing the role of a god.
Leo’s plan was to enter Org Group’s base openly and have the people there send them directly to Counter-Earth to meet the High Evolutionary.
“Come here, let’s do this, then this, and then that.”
“Warning! Warning! Org Group headquarters, unauthorized approach is not allowed. Cease your advance immediately or leave the area!”
As Leo’s spaceship approached the base, two patrolling ships immediately intercepted them and sent a warning message through video.
At this point, Rocket jumped in front of the screen and shouted loudly:
“I’m the one you’ve been looking for—Subject 89P13. I want to see the High Evolutionary.”
The Org Group security personnel on the opposing ships recognized Rocket and their expressions immediately changed. They quickly contacted the highest-ranking person in the base.
After a brief pause, they responded:
“Follow our ship into the base. Do not make any hostile movements, or we will engage your ship.”
Soon after, a dozen more Org Group patrol ships arrived.
Escorted by the Org Group ships, Leo’s vessel entered the massive biological research base of the Org Group and landed on the designated platform.
Rocket confidently took the lead, guiding Leo and the others as they disembarked from the ship. They were greeted by a hundred Org Group security personnel, all equipped with energy weapons and wearing bio-armor.
Under the guards’ escort, they soon met the current highest-ranking official at the base, the High Evolutionary’s most trusted assistant in biological experimentation—a bald, overweight alien scientist.
“Subject 89P13, it’s been a long time. Ever since you left, the High Evolutionary has been looking for you. Now, you’ve finally returned,” the scientist said with a cruel smile.
“Enough with the small talk. Where is the High Evolutionary? I want to see him!” Rocket snapped impatiently.
The bald scientist grinned wickedly.
“He’s not here, but don’t worry. I’ll send you to him right away. He’ll be very pleased to know I’ve found you.”
“You heard that—he’s not here,” Rocket said, turning to look at Leo.
Leo nodded, raising his hand and striking the bald scientist with a punch.
“Phantom Demon Emperor Fist!”
The Phantom Demon Emperor Fist, one of the signature moves of Gemini, was a legendary technique. It struck the opponent’s brain neurons at the speed of light, allowing complete control over the target’s mind. The victim would be hypnotized, obeying the commands of the attacker like a puppet.
“Master, what are your orders?”
The bald scientist, now under the influence of the Phantom Demon Emperor Fist, froze for a moment before bowing respectfully to Leo. At this point, his mind was fully controlled by Leo.
The High Evolutionary, being deeply engrossed in his research, had entrusted most of the Org Group’s affairs to two alien scientists—a bald male scientist who managed the headquarters and a bald female scientist who oversaw the Counter-Earth base. By controlling these two individuals, Leo would effectively control the entire Org Group.
“Where is the High Evolutionary right now?” Leo asked.
The bald scientist bowed slightly and replied, “He is currently at the Counter-Earth base. After I informed him that Subject 89P13 had been captured, he instructed me to send him to Counter-Earth immediately.”
“Very good. Continue your regular duties and have someone send us to Counter-Earth,” Leo ordered with a nod.
As long as the High Evolutionary’s location was confirmed, everything else would be simple.
Regarding the High Evolutionary’s power, if this were the comic version of the character, Leo wouldn’t dare charge in recklessly, as the High Evolutionary in the comics was at least as powerful as a Celestial-level being.
Right now, Leo was only barely at that level himself.
But this was the movie universe. The High Evolutionary had been disfigured by Rocket at the beginning and was later defeated by the combined efforts of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Honestly, his displayed strength wasn’t that impressive.
In a one-on-one fight, he probably wouldn’t even stand a chance against Ronan the Accuser.
So there was no need for concern.
The High Evolutionary’s real power wasn’t his individual strength but the forces he had created—the Org Group and the Sovereign Empire.
But Leo wasn’t foolish enough to directly challenge the High Evolutionary’s vast forces. He would simply use Rocket as bait, track down the High Evolutionary, and take him out directly.
Leo left two shadow clones behind—one to work with the bald scientist and mobilize Org Group’s resources to research the spiritual energy converter, and the other to return to Earth on an Org Group ship to coordinate with the scientists under his command.
Meanwhile, Leo’s true body, along with Rocket and the others, followed the Org Group guards to Counter-Earth.
Three days later, a planet that looked identical to Earth appeared before Leo’s eyes.
“What a genius. If it weren’t for the mission, I’d almost feel bad about killing him,” Leo mused.
With a sigh, their ship pierced the atmosphere and soon hovered above a city.
The layout of this city was identical to 1930s New York, with one major difference: the Statue of Liberty had been replaced with a statue of the High Evolutionary holding a monkey.
The citizens below were dressed and behaved exactly like humans, except their heads were not human but those of various animals.
Pig-headed people, cow-headed people, dog-headed people, chicken-headed people—there were all kinds of humanoid animals.
