MWM Chapter 387

This entry is part 388 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“This time, I’m definitely going to achieve advanced completion!”

Although Leo wasn’t familiar with the new small world, he knew for sure that the rewards for advanced completion would be far better than those for basic or intermediate completion.

And just from the description, the Breton racial abilities and Dragonborn bloodline granted by advanced completion seemed quite impressive.

A 25% reduction in magic damage meant that any magical attack hitting him would have its power reduced by a quarter. If he encountered a magic specialist in the future, this would give him a significant advantage in battle.

The *Dragon Skin* ability, usable once a day, would allow him to absorb 50% of magic damage for one minute and convert it into his own magicka. This was even better, as it would pair perfectly with his wizard bloodline. While his wizard bloodline allowed him to generate magic by continuously converting external energy, large-scale spells still required a substantial amount of magicka to cast, and the conversion took time.

With *Dragon Skin*, not only could he reduce half the magic damage for a minute, but he could also turn that damage into magicka to boost his magical output, making his spells even more powerful.

As for the Dragonborn bloodline, although he didn’t fully understand its potential, it seemed promising.

“Captain, we have arrived at the designated coordinates. Shall we enter Earth’s atmosphere?”

At that moment, the voice of the AI, Athena, interrupted Leo’s thoughts.

“Let’s stay here for now,” Leo replied.

Even though the Dark Aster was cloaked and had its signal jammers activated, the ship’s size meant that entering Earth’s atmosphere would inevitably cause disturbances. It would likely attract unnecessary attention.

Since Leo could use his teleportation ability to easily move from the Dark Aster to Earth—though he couldn’t teleport across multiple star systems just yet—this short-distance jump was no problem. Plus, the Dark Aster had plenty of ghost ships that could be used to travel to and from Earth without much trouble.

“Incoming encrypted signal requesting communication. Shall I connect it?” Athena asked a moment later.

Leo nodded, and a holographic image appeared on the screen in the captain’s hall.

“Boss, is it time for us to set off?” The person on the screen was none other than Jack, the nominal manager of the Li Corporation.

Before Leo had left the Org Group headquarters, he had assigned one of his shadow clones to handle the project linking the Org Group with Earth’s Li Corporation. While his real self had been traveling to Counter-Earth and Xandar, the clone had led the Org Group scientists to Earth to collaborate with top scientists like Banner and Selvig.

The shadow clone had now dissipated, and Leo had received its memories. This communication was about transporting Jack and the team of scientists from the Li Corporation to the Dark Aster, where they could collaborate with the Org Group scientists. The Dark Aster, now equipped with the Nova Empire’s most advanced laboratories, would serve as the base for researching the spiritual energy converter.

Once the Wizarding Empire developed the long-distance Portkey he had requested, it could be set up between the Dark Aster and the Li Corporation’s headquarters, allowing for seamless travel.

“Proceed. I’ll be waiting for you on the Dark Aster,” Leo instructed.

After making arrangements with Jack, Leo turned to Wanda and asked Star-Lord one last time before heading back to Earth: “Peter, are you sure you don’t want to come with me and meet your grandfather?”

Star-Lord hesitated for a moment, then shook his head.

“As embarrassing as it sounds, I’m still not ready to face him.”

Whenever he thought about Earth, the image of his mother’s death flooded his mind, and he hadn’t been able to overcome that yet.

Leo didn’t press the matter. As a friend who had spent months with Star-Lord, he respected his decision.

“Alright, Peter. In that case, I’m officially passing on the title of Captain of the Guardians of the Galaxy to you. You can choose to stay here on the Dark Aster to rest or take the ship I gave you and continue your adventures, maintaining peace in the universe and helping those in need. If you ever run into trouble you can’t handle, feel free to return here and find me. Or, if you need anything, you can also contact the Org Group. I’ll make sure they help you in any way they can.”

There wasn’t much benefit in keeping Star-Lord and his crew around. Besides, their personalities didn’t lend themselves to staying in one place for long. It was better to let them continue their adventures in the universe. Who knows, maybe one day they’d run into trouble that would trigger another main or side quest for him.

After all, Leo expected to stay on Earth for some time before the next main quest started.

“Oh my god, are you serious, Leo? You’re really making me the captain!” Star-Lord exclaimed, his excitement palpable.

Under Leo’s leadership, the Guardians of the Galaxy had become famous across the universe. For Star-Lord, becoming the next captain and continuing their adventures was definitely something to brag about.

“Leo, are you sure this is a good idea? I’m worried this guy will get us all thrown in jail one day,” Rocket chimed in, shrugging. He didn’t trust Star-Lord’s carefree, unplanned style of leadership, although he wasn’t much better at times.

Gamora and Nebula both nodded in agreement, clearly sharing Rocket’s concerns.

As for Drax and Mantis, they didn’t seem to care who led the team. Drax followed any order from Leo without question, and if Leo said Star-Lord was the captain, then so be it. Mantis was just happy to have everyone together.

Groot stood firmly on Rocket’s side, echoing his sentiments with a simple, “I am Groot.”

“Hey, you guys should trust me! I have the power of a Celestial now, I’ll protect all of you!” Star-Lord said, pounding his chest confidently.

Watching their usual playful bickering, Leo and Wanda shared a smile.

“We’re heading back now. Don’t forget to check in on Thanos’ whereabouts every now and then,” Leo said, leaving them with one last piece of advice before he and Wanda vanished from the Dark Aster.

As the two disappeared, the group grew silent for a moment. Each of them was a loner, and Leo and Wanda had brought them together, becoming some of the few friends they had.

Now that their leader and his wife had left, they couldn’t help but feel a bit sad.

But they were also free spirits, and their melancholy didn’t last long. Soon, they shook off their emotions, boarded their ship, and embarked on a new adventure.
