- MWM Chapter 398
“So this is the Mist Village?”
As they flew to the center of the island, they soon discovered a village hidden within the mist, nestled among the mountains.
The architecture of the Mist Village was vastly different from Konoha’s. Most buildings were cylindrical in shape, with various plants and trees growing on their rooftops.
“Fifth Hokage, are you planning to destroy our entire Mist Village?”
Ao, looking at the white cloud descending slowly, asked nervously.
After witnessing Leo single-handedly take down 3,000 Mist ninjas, Ao had little hope that the Mist Village could withstand someone as powerful as this Hokage, who was comparable to Konoha’s First Hokage. Even though he knew that the Fifth Mizukage, Mei Terumi, possessed two rare and powerful Kekkei Genkai: Lava Release and Boil Release.
“Of course not. As a former monk of the Fire Temple, I dislike killing. You saw it yourself—those 3,000 Mist ninjas were only injured, and I sent them back to Konoha to be imprisoned,” Leo said with a gentle smile.
“So, if you can persuade your Mizukage to surrender, I won’t have to fight.”
“If we surrender and sign a peace treaty, will you return our captured ninjas?” Ao asked after a brief silence.
Leo shook his head.
“Not until the war is over. Until then, your Mizukage and all of the Mist ninjas will be imprisoned in Konoha. After the war ends and we sign a peace treaty, I’ll release them.
Otherwise, if you change your mind and ambush us halfway through the war, I’d only be sabotaging myself.”
“That’s impossible! We can’t accept such terms!” Ao’s eyes widened in anger upon hearing this.
This would be tantamount to handing the Mist Village’s fate entirely to Konoha. It wasn’t just a matter of humiliation—if Konoha went back on its word, the Mist Village could face total annihilation.
But Leo merely glanced at him in response to his fury.
“If you don’t accept, then I’m afraid I’ll have to make you accept it through force.”
As his words fell, the white cloud landed at the entrance of the Mist Village.
Leo didn’t plan on launching a sneak attack. He signaled to Naruto and Lee:
“Go inform them that the Fifth Hokage of Konoha has come to visit. Be polite.”
Naruto and Lee immediately ran forward to relay Leo’s message to the two chunin standing guard at the gates.
The two Mist ninjas were visibly shocked by the sight of the Konoha ninjas descending from the sky, but when they saw Ao standing with his hand over his injured eye, their expressions quickly changed.
“Lord Ao, what happened to you?”
“Don’t worry about me. Go report to the Mizukage immediately! Tell her that our 3,000-strong Mist ninja force was completely wiped out by the Fifth Hokage, and explain the situation here!” Ao commanded sharply.
Not knowing what else to do, Ao could only pass on the information to Mei Terumi and let the Mizukage and the higher-ups decide.
The two chunin’s pupils dilated upon hearing Ao’s words. But being seasoned warriors who had survived the Bloody Mist era, they exchanged a glance. One drew a kunai and stayed at the gate, while the other vanished in a blur, heading to report to the Mizukage.
Leo made no move to stop them and merely smiled, standing calmly in place.
He wanted to defeat the Mist Village fair and square, not through sneak attacks. His goal was to show the entire village that, if he wished, he could easily wipe them off the map and erase them from history.
This way, when he eventually unified the ninja world, the Mist Village would think twice about rebelling.
After about ten minutes, the gates of the Mist Village opened again. Leading the group was a beautiful and mature kunoichi. She had green eyes, pink lips, and long, wavy auburn hair. Her fair complexion and curvaceous figure were accentuated by the strapless blue dress she wore.
This was the Fifth Mizukage, Mei Terumi.
Following closely behind her were all the remaining jonin and chunin in the village.
“Oh my, is this really the handsome Fifth Hokage of Konoha, Yuan Chuan? They say Konoha is known for its handsome men, and it seems that reputation is well-earned.”
Mei Terumi looked Leo up and down, her hand covering her mouth as she giggled.
“The Fifth Hokage has come all this way, and you didn’t even send word ahead. And Ao, you were sent on a mission—why have you returned without permission? Come over here and explain yourself.”
Mei Terumi had been surprised when she first heard the news of the Fifth Hokage showing up at her doorstep. What shocked her even more was that Ao had been captured and was claiming that the Fifth Hokage had single-handedly wiped out their entire force.
Frankly, neither she nor the higher-ups believed Ao’s report.
Those 3,000 Mist ninjas were the village’s elite forces. The idea that one person could defeat them all was absurd, unless it was the resurrected First Hokage, which was impossible.
So, either Ao had betrayed them, Ao was an imposter, or Ao was under some kind of control.
Mei Terumi knew Ao well, and the likelihood of him betraying the village was low. When she first laid eyes on him, she could immediately tell he was the real Ao.
That left only one possibility: Ao had been controlled.
After all, Konoha was known to have several jutsu capable of controlling others.
For example, the famous Yamanaka clan’s *Mind Transfer Jutsu* and the Uchiha clan’s Sharingan genjutsu. And standing next to Ao was Kakashi, who possessed a Sharingan.
“Yes, it was indeed rude of me not to notify you in advance, Lady Mizukage, but given the current state of the ninja world, there isn’t much time for formalities. I hope you’ll forgive me for the intrusion.
As for why I came in such a hurry, Ao knows the answer. Let him explain it to you.”
Leo smiled and looked at Kakashi, who released Ao, allowing him to return to the Mist Village’s ranks, drenched in cold sweat.
Once back on the Mist Village’s side, Ao explained everything in detail to Mei Terumi.
The Mist ninjas checked Ao thoroughly to ensure he wasn’t under any other jutsu’s control. After confirming that he wasn’t, Mei Terumi couldn’t help but furrow her brow.
If things were really as Ao had described, then the Mist Village was in serious trouble.
“If the Fifth Hokage is that confident, then let me see your jutsu for myself, Lord Fifth Hokage!”
After a brief pause, Mei Terumi regained her composure, having made her decision.
Whether or not Ao’s account was true didn’t really matter at this point. If it was true, they couldn’t possibly accept Leo’s terms, and a fight would be inevitable. If it wasn’t true, then they would still need to fight to capture the Hokage and thwart any schemes Konoha might have.
Either way, a battle was unavoidable.
“It would be my pleasure.”
Leo nodded and stepped forward.
