MWM Chapter 421

This entry is part 422 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Water-style techniques generally aren’t known for their sheer destructive power and are mostly used for support, with only a few exceptions. The *Water Style: Water Severing Wave* is one such exception.

This technique was developed by the inventor of forbidden jutsu, the Second Hokage Tobirama Senju, as a purely offensive water-style ninjutsu. In Tobirama’s hands, it could easily cut through the Divine Tree or slice a small mountain in half, making it one of the most powerful water-style techniques for single-target destruction.

Leo’s version was no less impressive, and combined with the added strength of his Sage Mode chakra, it was even more devastating than Tobirama’s.

Thousands of high-pressure water jets shot from the mouths of Leo’s shadow clones, cleanly bisecting every Chitauri Berserker Ape within range in an instant.

With the Outriders mostly wiped out, the Leviathans severely damaged, and now even the Berserker Apes being slain in droves, Thanos finally had enough.

“Stubborn fools, charge with me!” Thanos roared, gripping his double-edged blade, leading the charge with the Black Order and the remainder of his forces.

“Perfect timing!” Leo smiled as he saw Thanos leading the charge. With a thought, the Sagittarius Gold Cloth that had been nurtured by his life force instantly enveloped his body.

Though his shadow clones had killed many of Thanos’ soldiers, they were only a fraction of the army’s total. Now that Thanos was personally joining the battle, Leo decided to unleash his ultimate technique.

“Sage Art: Water Style—Great Exploding Water Colliding Wave!”

All of his clones gathered their remaining Sage Mode chakra into this massive water-style technique, unleashing a torrent of water that engulfed the entire Thanos army, including the ships and advanced weaponry deployed from the Sanctuary II.

The monstrous waves created by the jutsu covered everything, but their destructive power was relatively modest. They wouldn’t kill any of Thanos’ toughened soldiers—probably not even the cannon-fodder Outriders.

But that wasn’t Leo’s intention. His goal was simply to enclose all his enemies within the water.

The true finishing move was yet to come.

“Burn, my Cosmos!”

Leo ignited the microcosm within him, the essence of his being, and with the Sagittarius Gold Cloth amplifying his power, his Cosmos surged toward the threshold of the Seventh Sense.

“Athena Exclamation!”

The absolute zero freezing air, imbued with the seven-colored light of the Aurora, burst from Leo’s hands and flooded into the massive waves created by his water-style jutsu.

This was Aquarius Gold Saint Camus’ ultimate move.

As the freezing energy merged with the water, every soldier from Thanos’ army, every ship that had descended from the Sanctuary II, was instantly frozen in place by the absolute zero ice. The entire battlefield became a vast frozen wasteland.

The scene looked like a landlocked ocean of ice stretching as far as the eye could see.

“Good grief, it’s so cold, like we’re standing in the Arctic!” Ant-Man couldn’t help but marvel, shivering as the cold air radiated from the enormous ice field.

“Did we… win?” someone asked hesitantly.

“Not quite. This cold is impressive, but I doubt it’s enough to kill Thanos,” Tony said, using his suit to scan the temperature of the ice.

Sure enough, a few moments later, a tremendous explosion rang out from the center of the frozen battlefield. Thanos shattered the surrounding ice with his double-edged blade, emerging with the Black Order at his side.

“It’s enough for now. At least we have a chance now,” Steve said, observing that only Thanos and his four generals had survived, while the rest of his army lay entombed in the ice. Raising his shield, Steve charged toward Thanos.

“It’s our turn! Avengers, charge!”

The 2014 version of Thanos had arrived due to their own creation of the quantum tunnel, a consequence of their efforts to bring back the half of the population lost five years ago. This was their burden to bear. Leo had already helped them enough—now it was their time to act.

“Thanos!”

With Steve’s command, Thor, wielding Stormbreaker in one hand and Mjolnir in the other, flew straight toward Thanos. Behind him were Iron Man and War Machine, while on the ground, Steve, who led the charge, was joined by a now-recovered Bruce Banner, Rocket, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and the giant-sized Ant-Man, Scott.

“I’ll let you handle it for now.”

Leo, having just expended all his Cosmos energy and feeling the onset of an epiphany, sat down cross-legged and closed his eyes. The extreme exertion had finally given him a glimpse of the Seventh Sense. If he could meditate now, he might be able to break through and become a true Gold Saint.

With the threat of Thanos’ army significantly reduced, Leo didn’t feel the need to intervene as urgently. Although the Avengers were likely outmatched, they could probably hold out long enough. If their lives were truly at risk, he could step in to help at any moment.

And so, the Marvel Trinity—Thor, Tony, and Steve—faced off against Thanos, while the rest of the Avengers took on the Black Order. The final battle began.

Leo kept a fraction of his awareness on the fight as he meditated. Unsurprisingly, the Avengers were struggling. While Black Dwarf, Proxima Midnight, and Corvus Glaive weren’t too overwhelming, Ebony Maw and Thanos were far too powerful.

Ebony Maw had previously bested Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wong, and it had only been through trickery that they had managed to send him into space. As for Thanos, his immense physical, magical, and mental resistance, combined with his monstrous strength and mastery of combat, made him a nearly unstoppable force.

Even with Tony’s nano-suit, Thor’s awakened godly power, and Steve wielding Mjolnir, the trio was barely holding their own against Thanos.

Several times, Leo had been tempted to stop meditating and step in, as the battle’s intensity neared dangerous levels. But in the end, the Avengers’ teamwork and unyielding spirit saw them through each critical moment.

Finally, after deep contemplation, Leo opened his eyes.

“I’ve finally reached the Seventh Sense!”
