MWM Chapter 431

This entry is part 432 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“You’re up next,” said the Black woman captain as she pulled the lever in front of the elevator, and it slowly opened.

Just as Leo was about to step inside, a Time Guard in uniform quickly approached the captain.

“Captain, the machines are showing that the 2012 branch timeline has not been fixed, and the time reset device left there was destroyed.”

“That’s impossible!” The Black woman captain immediately frowned upon hearing this.

She quickly pulled out a device and scanned Leo. Her expression changed dramatically.

“This isn’t the target. The real target is still in the original timeline!”

“Have they found out? Seems like I’ll have to fight my way out after all,” Leo said with a helpless smile. He then reached up and tapped the collar on his neck, which instantly unlocked and fell into his hand.

The captain’s face turned ghostly pale at the sight. “That’s impossible! In here, no magical powers can be used!”

“There’s no such thing as impossible. You just haven’t seen enough,” Leo said as he casually tossed the broken collar to the ground.

Normally, in the Time Management Bureau, it’s true that magical powers can’t be used.

But Leo was an exception.

In the Marvel universe, most special powers have specific sources, meaning their power isn’t inherent. For example, the magic of sorcerers like Doctor Strange comes from beings like the Vishanti and various dimensional gods. Loki’s Asgardian magic comes from the World Tree of the Nine Realms.

In the Time Void, which cuts off external energy sources, their powers become useless because they can’t draw from their origins.

Even Wanda’s Chaos Magic, sourced from Chthon, would make her powerless here. The Infinity Stones themselves would be reduced to mere rocks because their power is tied to the six fundamental laws of the universe. Once removed from their universe, they lose their effectiveness.

The Time Bureau has many such powerless Infinity Stones, often used as paperweights.

But there are exceptions, and one of them is technological power and powers that come from within. In the Time Void, neither of these is affected.

Technology harnesses laws of the universe through devices, and as long as the device remains functional, it can still be used. Similarly, powers that come from within, like physical strength, remain unaffected.

For instance, heroes like Captain America and Hulk would retain their full strength in the Time Management Bureau because their power comes from their bodies.

However, the Bureau isn’t usually concerned with such individuals, as their time-manipulating weapons are highly effective against them. Even a mighty warrior like Asgardian Sif, whose strength rivals Captain America’s, was easily captured by the Time Guards.

Leo’s ability to break the time collar was because his shadow clone’s power came entirely from within. It didn’t rely on any external source.

The magic within the shadow clone was a portion divided from his main body’s power. The chakra was directly halved, and a portion of his true essence and microcosm energy was also divided.

He could use as much of it as he wanted, but once it was depleted, the shadow clone would either disappear or be destroyed if it took too much damage.

Similarly, if Leo’s main body had been there, he could still use all his abilities within the Time Management Bureau.

To be cautious, he had sent the shadow clone to scout ahead.

“Capture him!” the Black woman captain shouted, activating the alarm as she prepared to press the button on her time-manipulating device to freeze the time around Leo.

However, Leo had anticipated this and wasn’t about to let her succeed.

“Expelliarmus!” A flash of blue light struck the captain, and her time-manipulating device was instantly knocked out of her hand.

The time control device was indeed a formidable weapon, but the person using it was only human. And no human, no matter how strong, could match Leo’s reflexes.

Even though the captain was far stronger than an ordinary person, she was still no match for him.

Due to the alarm, a large number of Time Guards began to swarm into the hall from all directions.

But Leo wasn’t fazed. He brought his hands together, giving the Time Guards no chance to use their high-tech weapons. He unleashed a flurry of ninjutsu, magic, and Taoist techniques, taking them down before they even had a chance to see him.

Leo, however, showed restraint. He only stunned or injured the guards, leaving them unable to fight but not killing them. He didn’t want to truly provoke He Who Remains into an all-out confrontation that would leave both sides badly wounded.

“Hahaha, I knew these guys couldn’t stop you. No wonder you’re Thor’s friend! I’ve been away from my brother for so long. He must be missing me, and to be honest, I kind of miss him too. If it’s convenient, how about taking me with you?” Loki’s voice rang out.

Seeing Leo so easily defeat the mysterious Time Guards, Loki’s attitude immediately shifted, and he came over with a flattering smile.

Loki wasn’t like Thor. As the God of Mischief, lying was second nature to him, and he had long discarded any sense of dignity. First, he invoked his brother Thor to ease the tension, hoping to trick Leo into helping him escape. Then, once free, he would find a way to release Hela, regain his powers, and once again seek the throne.

But Leo, seeing Loki’s ingratiating smile, shook his head.

“Given your track record, I think it’s best you stay here. We’ll meet again if we have the chance.”

With that, Leo’s figure flickered and vanished from the reception hall of the Time Management Bureau.

He had no intention of rescuing Loki. Not only was Loki too prone to causing trouble, but Leo also needed him—and Lady Loki—to deal with He Who Remains.

In the Time Bureau’s courtroom, Judge Ravonna Renslayer was in the middle of sentencing a time criminal when Leo suddenly appeared in front of her.

While dealing with the Time Guards earlier, he had used his divine sense to scan the entire Bureau and had pinpointed the location of the judge.

In the Time Management Bureau, aside from the three Time Keepers created by He Who Remains, Judge Ravonna held the most authority.

If Leo wanted to negotiate with He Who Remains, he would need to find Ravonna first.

“Who are you? How dare you barge into the courtroom!” Ravonna exclaimed in shock, immediately rising to her feet and shouting in anger.
