- MWM Chapter 435
“Stupefy!”
After the five bandits finished eating, Leo waved his hand, casting a stunning spell in a chain of lightning, knocking all of them unconscious. He then activated the power of his right eye, *Tsukuyomi*, pulling all five bandits into his Tsukuyomi world.
Although Leo had promised not to kill them, it didn’t mean he would let them continue robbing travelers.
Moreover, during his interrogation, he learned that the group had robbed a noble near Whiterun a few months ago, leading to them being wanted across the city.
Turning them in would not only earn him a bounty but also help build some reputation in Whiterun, which would make it easier for him to operate in the city.
“Look at this, a treasure map and an enchanted mage robe.”
After thoroughly searching the bandits’ tents and hidden chests, Leo found a handful of septim coins and some useless junk, but also a treasure map and a black enchanted mage robe.
In this world, currency between cities was universal, and there was only one form of it: the septim coin. There were no silver or copper coins.
However, a septim wasn’t as valuable as one might think. This world had an abundance of gold, and a decent loaf of bread could cost seven septims, while a regular bottle of mead might be ten.
Eating a good meal in a big city could easily cost at least twenty septims.
In this medieval-like setting, food and drink were considered precious, while human life was cheap.
The tattered treasure map came from the noble the bandits had robbed near Whiterun, the very robbery that had gotten them into trouble.
The treasure it hinted at was supposedly near Riverwood, which was why the bandits had been camping in the area, both robbing travelers and searching for the hidden treasure. But the map’s location markings were vague, and they hadn’t found anything yet.
Leo wasn’t particularly interested in treasure. He had come well-prepared, and his *Tsukuyomi* world was filled with vast quantities of gold, gems, and other valuable items created by Wanda’s magic, usable in many different worlds.
What intrigued him more was the enchanted black mage robe he had found.
Enchanting was a powerful skill in this world, allowing one to imbue ordinary objects with permanent magical effects, turning them into enchanted items. Such items immediately skyrocketed in value due to their enhanced properties.
Enchantment effects varied widely.
There weren’t many highly skilled enchanters in the world, with most being novices. However, even novice enchanters were highly respected.
Unlike pure mages, enchanters didn’t only enhance magical abilities but could also significantly boost a warrior’s combat power and vitality. Many powerful warriors worked hard to save up just to buy enchanted equipment suited to their abilities.
The black mage robe Leo found was a valuable enchanted item the Dark Elf bandit had saved up for years to purchase. When worn, it increased the wearer’s mana regeneration rate by 10%.
“Let’s give it a try.”
Leo donned the black mage robe and immediately felt his magical absorption rate increase by 10%, thanks to his wizard bloodline.
“It seems I’ll definitely need to learn enchanting in this world,” he mused.
Leo already had experience with enchanting, having learned much about magical item creation from the 600-year-old alchemy master Nicolas Flamel in the *Fantastic Beasts* world.
However, the way magical items were created in the two worlds appeared to differ.
In the *Fantastic Beasts* world, magical items were typically functional in nature. Examples included Portkeys for teleportation, flying cars, animated chess pieces, flying broomsticks, and the Philosopher’s Stone, which could create the Elixir of Life.
In *The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim*, however, enchantments usually enhanced the user’s own abilities. For instance, some enchantments increased mana regeneration, boosted mana reserves, reduced the mana cost of casting certain spells, or increased health, stamina, or recovery rates.
Leo would need to study this world’s magic more deeply before determining whether the two systems were fundamentally the same or different.
After finishing his search, Leo sat cross-legged by the campfire. He tore off a golden-brown wolf leg from the roast, sprinkled some of his own seasoning on it, and ate while enjoying the night view of this world.
The night sky, filled with stars, looked much like Earth’s, but there was one key difference: there were two moons in the sky instead of one.
According to the common myths of this world, the moons were said to be the transformed body of Lorkhan, the god who had created the world.
However, myths varied from nation to nation and race to race, so it was best to take them with a grain of salt.
The next morning, at the crack of dawn, Leo returned to the road and resumed his journey.
This time, he didn’t encounter any more bandits, just a few wild wolves, which he dispatched with ease.
After a leisurely walk through the dense forests, around noon, he finally emerged from the woods and, after rounding a bend, saw three standing stones near a beautiful lake.
“It looks like I’m almost there,” he thought.
Seeing the lake and the stones, Leo realized that Riverwood was close.
According to the information he had gathered from the bandits, Riverwood was named for its abundance of timber and its location by a small river, which connected to the lake in front of him.
If all went well, he would reach Riverwood within half an hour by following the road.
However, instead of turning toward Riverwood right away, Leo walked up to the three standing stones, which were inscribed with mysterious symbols.
“I can sense some kind of strange power from these stones.”
“These are the stones blessed by the gods?”
Leo hesitated for a moment before cautiously placing a hand on one of the stones.
According to the bandits, these stones near Riverwood were known as the Standing Stones, blessed by the gods. By touching them, one could receive a divine blessing.
The stone inscribed with the symbol of a mage was called the Mage Stone, and those who touched it would learn magic faster.
The stone with the warrior symbol was the Warrior Stone, which granted warriors more effective training.
The stone with the thief symbol was the Thief Stone, which made skills related to stealth easier to learn.
