MWM Chapter 439

This entry is part 440 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“What exactly is Dragon Shout? Is it like a sonic attack, similar to Lion’s Roar?”

Leo was curious about the Dragon Shout because neither Lokir nor anyone he had met so far had seen it firsthand. They had only heard that Ulfric Stormcloak could use it. So, Leo wasn’t entirely sure what kind of power it was.

He took the name literally and wondered if it was something akin to the Lion’s Roar technique, which uses sound waves as an attack.

If that were the case, then it didn’t seem particularly impressive. After all, Leo could cast an Amplifying Charm on himself and, with his powerful voice, achieve an effect just as strong as the Lion’s Roar.

But he suspected it wasn’t that simple.

“Let’s keep going and find out what this ancient Nordic Dragon Shout is all about.”

With that thought in mind, after obtaining the golden claw, Leo didn’t return but continued down the tomb’s passage.

“There’s actually something like zombies here? So these are what they call Draugr?”

The passage ahead was different from the previous ones, with bodies wrapped in burial shrouds resembling mummies lining the sides. These shrouded corpses didn’t pose much danger.

The real threat came from the armored draugr, wielding greatswords, axes, long blades, and bows.

As soon as they sensed Leo’s presence, they were reanimated by an invisible force, rising to attack him.

Compared to the bandits, these ancient Nordic draugr were far stronger. Not only were they incredibly powerful, but they also felt no pain and had no weak points.

To kill them, one had to hack them into pieces or use magic to obliterate their bodies entirely.

What made them even more dangerous was that some draugr were also spellcasters, capable of casting destruction magic.

These draugr were clearly ancient Nords, known as draugr in this world. Due to the differences in their power before death, the draugr’s strength also varied. Some, with better armor and weapons, were obviously of higher status and more powerful in life.

Leo gave them names: draugr soldiers, draugr captains, and draugr mages.

Unfortunately for them, their undead status was no match for Leo. With a flick of his wrist, he unleashed the *Avada Kedavra* lightning chain, wiping out their souls trapped in the corpses, causing them to collapse back into lifeless bodies.

As green flashes flickered through the tomb, Leo advanced, killing countless draugr and deactivating numerous deadly traps. Eventually, a large stone door, engraved with runes, blocked his path.

The stone door had three rotating wheels, each engraved with an image: a moth, a bear, and an owl. At the center were several round slots.

It was clear that in order to open the door, he needed to rotate the wheels to match the correct animal symbols and then insert the golden claw into the slots.

But Leo wasn’t in the mood for puzzles.

At that moment, Leo found himself understanding Thor a little better. When sheer strength could easily solve a problem, why bother using your brain? He figured he could save his intellect for more worthy opponents.

“Alohomora!”

He tried casting the unlocking spell again, but unlike before, this time, the blue light from the spell was absorbed by the runes on the door, leaving the door completely unaffected.

Clearly, the door was protected by magical defenses, designed to only open for those who possessed the golden claw and knew the correct combination.

“Boom!”

This didn’t bother Leo at all.

He simply channeled his cosmos, raised his fist, and punched the door. Instantly, cracks spread across the surface, and the door crumbled into pieces, falling to the ground.

Since magic couldn’t open the door, brute force would suffice. Although it was a bit crude—especially considering that the door was probably considered a historical artifact in this world—efficiency was what mattered most right now.

After smashing through the magical stone door, Leo found himself in an enormous chamber, easily larger than a football field.

The most striking feature of the chamber was a massive semicircular stone wall carved with dragon-like figures and mysterious runes.

Leo felt a faint resonance in his soul as he approached the wall, as though his soul was connecting with the runes.

Behind the dragon wall was a waterfall that divided the chamber in two, with a river flowing through the tomb into an unknown area beyond.

This must be the origin of the name “Bleak Falls Barrow.”

Leo stepped toward the wall. As he drew closer, the resonance between his soul and the runes intensified.

However, just as he crossed the stone bridge over the river and was nearing the wall, the lid of a large stone coffin in front of the wall suddenly flew open. A massive draugr, much larger and stronger than the others, sat up from within.

Leo guessed this must be the most powerful draugr in the tomb, likely the tomb’s master. He decided to call it the Draugr Lord.

“Lot do vah ro lot da!”

Wielding an axe, the Draugr Lord banged it against his shield in a show of intimidation as he pointed his weapon at Leo and spoke in a strange tongue.

The language the Draugr Lord used wasn’t one that Lokir, the body Leo now occupied, had ever heard before, but strangely, Leo understood its meaning perfectly.

It felt as though the language had already been etched into his soul.

Leo suspected it was related to the Dragonborn bloodline that had enhanced his soul when he first arrived in this world.

The translation of the Draugr Lord’s words was:

“Intruders must die!”

“Avada Kedavra.”

Leo raised his hand, and a green light shot toward the Draugr Lord.

However, unlike the previous draugr, the Draugr Lord didn’t instantly succumb to the Killing Curse. Instead, his body merely stiffened for a moment before returning to normal.

It was clear that the Draugr Lord’s soul was far more powerful than that of the ordinary draugr, strong enough to resist Leo’s Killing Curse.

“Fus Ro Dah!”

Enraged at having survived the attack, the Draugr Lord let out a thunderous shout aimed at Leo.

This wasn’t an ordinary shout—it was a Dragon Shout, and the power within the shout rushed toward Leo like a tidal wave.

Leo braced himself, confident that his physical strength would prevent him from being affected. However, to his surprise, the force of the shout made his body wobble slightly.

The effect wasn’t like a physical impact but more like some kind of special law or energy at play.

It reminded him of his unlocking spell, which could open any lock, whether it was a simple padlock or a high-tech lock, as long as there was no magical interference.

Taking advantage of the momentary unsteadiness, the Draugr Lord lunged forward. His left hand slammed a heavy Nord shield into Leo’s face, while his right hand brought the axe down toward Leo’s shoulder.
