- MWM Chapter 465
“You! Yes, you! Are you the so-called Dragonborn everyone speaks of?”
The leader of the cultists stepped forward, rudely interrupting the conversation between Leo and Camilla. His tone was hostile.
Sensing the malice radiating from the three figures in front of him, Leo raised an eyebrow and responded, “And if I am?”
“Fraud! Your lies mean nothing to us. The true Dragonborn is about to return, and you are nothing but a shadow, a mere imposter. When my lord, Miraak, reveals himself, all will witness his power, and none shall stand in his way!”
Upon hearing Leo admit to his identity, the three cultists shouted maniacally and launched a surprise attack.
Large fireballs, bone-chilling ice storms, and deadly lightning bolts burst from the hands of the three cultists, all aimed directly at Leo, clearly intent on ending his life in one strike.
“Miraak, the true Dragonborn?” Leo frowned.
He had learned from the Greybeards that there were many Dragonborns throughout history and that he was simply one among them. However, they had only detected him in this current era, leading Leo to believe he was the only Dragonborn in existence at the moment.
He hadn’t expected there to be another Dragonborn still alive.
Though they were both Dragonborn, they had no personal grievances, and yet these cultists had ambushed him, aiming to kill him. It seemed excessive.
“And you think you three fools can kill me?”
With a casual motion, Leo raised a hand, summoning a protective shield. The *Ironflesh* spell materialized instantly, blocking the powerful destruction magic headed his way.
Just as he prepared to retaliate, the guards and villagers of Riverwood sprang into action.
“Protect the Dragonborn!”
With a fierce battle cry, the sturdy guards drew their swords and, shield in hand, charged at the three cultists like bulls.
The other villagers didn’t remain idle either. The blacksmith grabbed a massive Nordic warhammer, the Bosmer hunter jumped onto a rooftop and nocked an arrow, and even the bard from the Sleeping Giant Inn pulled out a small dagger and crouched, ready to sneak in.
But these cultists were not ordinary enemies.
If they had been like the rogue mages Leo had encountered in the tombs, they would likely have scattered in fear. Rogue mages usually knew only a few weak spells, and while their magic might be effective at a distance, they were as good as dead once a warrior closed in.
However, these cultists remained calm and displayed a high level of training.
First, they cast alteration spells to reinforce their robes, giving them the durability of armor. With one hand, they maintained magical shields, and with the other, they continued to cast destruction spells.
Their magical shields blocked melee attacks, their armored robes protected them from the arrows flying through the air, and their destruction magic turned them into powerful artillery.
In a matter of moments, the three cultists had overpowered the guards and villagers of Riverwood. Many had been injured by the destructive magic, and even several houses along the street had been damaged.
“Everyone, step aside. I’ll handle this from here.”
Seeing the situation unfold, Leo quickly spoke up.
While he appreciated the villagers’ efforts to protect him, the truth was that they were only getting in the way.
The guards and villagers, exhausted from dealing with the powerful mages, heeded Leo’s words. Knowing his prowess from the tales of his dragon-slaying exploits, they quickly moved aside.
Seizing the opportunity, the three cultists unleashed their most powerful destruction spells, aiming once more at Leo.
“You claim I’m a false Dragonborn? Then let me show you the power of a true Dragonborn!”
Leo didn’t bother raising another defense spell or using any magic or ninja techniques. Instead, he simply opened his mouth slightly.
“Fus… Ro Dah!”
A tremendous Dragon Shout erupted from Leo’s mouth.
The powerful second-tier *Unrelenting Force* shout not only dispersed the three cultists’ destruction magic but also crashed into their magical shields.
The shields, which the guards had been unable to break through, shattered instantly upon contact with the shockwave from the Dragon Shout.
The alteration magic that had turned their robes into armor also failed, and the cultists’ robes tore apart under the sheer force of the shout.
“You… how can a false Dragonborn have such a powerful shout?”
All three cultists, now left without even their undergarments, stared at Leo in disbelief. Blood poured from their mouths as they collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Ordinary Dragon Shouts were not as powerful as Leo’s, especially since he had not yet learned the third tier of the shout. However, with his exceptionally strong soul, the shout had been vastly amplified.
“As expected of the Dragonborn!”
Seeing Leo effortlessly defeat the three formidable mages with just a shout, the villagers and guards couldn’t help but feel awed.
“Tsukuyomi!”
Leo summoned the three unconscious cultists into his *Tsukuyomi* realm and then waved his hand.
“Restore everything.”
With his *Mending Charm*, time seemed to reverse. The damaged street and houses were instantly repaired, returning to their pristine state as though nothing had happened.
This feat earned another round of astonished gasps from the villagers.
A spell like *Mending* didn’t exist in this world, or at least Leo hadn’t found any record of it in the books he had read.
The villagers, having witnessed this spell for the first time, believed it to be a divine miracle.
The Nords’ prejudice against magic primarily stemmed from their negative experiences. Destruction magic that could easily set houses on fire and necromancy that was inherently evil were naturally despised because of the calamities they brought.
However, they had no issue with restoration magic since it helped heal their wounds and alleviate their suffering.
As such, Leo’s *Mending Charm*, which restored their homes and streets, was seen not as dark magic but as a divine blessing.
“Thank you all for your help,”
Leo said, healing the injured guards with a few restorative spells. After greeting the villagers, he made his way to the Sleeping Giant Inn.
As soon as he left, the bard Sven exclaimed with excitement, “I’m going to compose a song about the Golden Dragonborn! It will echo across the land along with the name of the Dragonborn, and I’ll become the most famous bard ever! This is perfect! I’ve already got some inspiration!”
Humming a tune that had just come to mind, Sven hurried home, clearly eager to put his ideas into words as quickly as possible.
