- MWM Chapter 468
Ismir, the Dragon of the North—this was once the title of the Nord Emperor Tiber Septim, who unified the entire continent. Even to this day, when the Nords speak, they instinctively add an expression of reverence:
“Oh, by Ismir’s name.”
Now, Leo, the new Dragonborn, had inherited this title once again, and it was officially bestowed upon him by the Greybeards, respected across the entire continent.
No one, no faction, could dispute it.
“Dovahkiin, you are now the Dragon of the North, holding the rightful claim to unify the entire continent. However, we Greybeards do not interfere in worldly wars. That will be your responsibility,” Arngeir said to Leo after the ceremony ended.
Leo immediately understood the implication behind Arngeir’s words.
Arngeir was subtly telling him that, as the Dragon of the North recognized by the Greybeards, he had the divine right to be the emperor who unites the entire continent, just like Tiber Septim before him.
Whether or not he could achieve that unification would depend on his own efforts.
It was like the tale of Liu Bei during the Three Kingdoms period—Liu Bei, being of the imperial bloodline of the Han dynasty, proclaimed his mission to restore the Han, gaining the moral high ground. But whether he could succeed depended on his ability to defeat the various warlords.
In contrast, Leo, as the new Dragon of the North, was the true heir to the Empire, far more legitimate than Liu Bei ever was.
If he were to raise his banner now, countless Nord warriors would rally to his side, for he held both the moral and legitimate claim to leadership.
But of course, the current Emperor Titus Mede II, the Thalmor from the Summerset Isles, and various independent factions would likely join forces to eliminate him at the first opportunity.
No one wants a “true emperor” overshadowing them.
If Leo merely held the title without amassing power, everyone would welcome him warmly. But if he sought to unify the continent, he’d likely become the first target for elimination.
Without strength, legitimacy alone is worthless.
“Unifying Tamriel, huh? Hmm… it’s certainly possible,” Leo muttered, rubbing his chin as the idea began to appeal to him.
He had already done similar things in the Wizarding World and the Naruto World, where he unified those realms and reaped significant benefits.
If he could unify all of Tamriel, it would be similarly advantageous. Many things would be handled by his subordinates, leaving him free to focus on his cultivation.
Since the Aedra and Daedra couldn’t intervene directly, and his status was already divinely recognized, the difficulty of unifying the continent didn’t seem that high.
“First, I’ll hunt dragons and absorb their souls to strengthen my spirit, and then I’ll consider the matter of unifying the continent. Perhaps I can leverage this civil war for my plans,” Leo thought, having made up his mind.
He was about to teleport back to the Sleeping Giant Inn to meet up with Delphine and continue their dragon hunt when Arngeir stopped him again.
“We just felt the whisper of a Word of Power from one of the dragon walls in Skyrim. I’ll give you the location. When you have time, you should visit it to learn.
Remember, as the Dragonborn, your Thu’um is your greatest skill. You should spend time refining and mastering it.
We will continue sensing for more Word Walls, and we’ll let you know when we discover new ones.”
“Understood, Master,” Leo replied, his eyes lighting up once more.
He hadn’t expected the Greybeards to have the ability to sense the location of dragon walls. He had been concerned about how vast Skyrim was and how difficult it would be to find those dragon walls, hidden in remote and forgotten places.
But now, with the Greybeards’ guidance, it seemed all he had to do was stay in touch with them, and he could find all the Words of Power.
After some thought, Leo left a shadow clone at High Hrothgar before teleporting back to the Sleeping Giant Inn.
“It seems you’re ready. Let’s set out then,” Leo said, appearing in the inn’s basement and seeing that Delphine was already fully equipped.
He motioned for her to follow as he headed toward the door.
However, Delphine frowned and quickly rushed ahead of him after they left Riverwood.
“I think I should lead the way. I have more experience. Just follow me,” Delphine said, clearly wanting to maintain control over the mission.
Slaying dragons was something she felt should be her domain, with the Dragonborn simply doing the fighting.
Leo was momentarily taken aback but shrugged. “I just thought flying would be faster. If we take too long and that black dragon flies away, we’ll have wasted our time.”
“Flying? You can fly?” Delphine asked, her face showing surprise.
Without further explanation, Leo activated his *Cloud Riding Technique*, causing both him and Delphine to lift into the air.
“Not only can I fly, but I can take you with me. Walking will take too long. We’ll be there in just a few minutes if we fly,” Leo said, as the cloud beneath them shot forward with a sonic boom before Delphine could protest.
“So fast!” Delphine’s heart raced, her emotions becoming complicated.
This Dragonborn was far more powerful and independent than she had anticipated, and it seemed he would not be so easily controlled.
But Leo wasn’t concerned about Delphine’s thoughts. He fully intended to bring the Blades under his command. If Delphine was willing to assist him, all the better—it would make things easier.
If not, he had no problem using force to control her with his *Phantom Ruler Fist*.
The Dragonborn was supposed to be the master of the Blades, and the Blades were meant to obey the Dragonborn. That was how history was written.
There was no way he would let the Blades reverse that relationship and make him their tool.
During the flight to Kynesgrove, Leo split his attention, focusing part of his mind on his small universe—the *Tsukuyomi* world—where the three strange cultists who had attacked him were now imprisoned.
Inside the *Tsukuyomi* realm, the three cultists were bound to crosses, their eyes open but unable to move.
Within this world, unless someone’s power was close to Leo’s, he didn’t even need to lift a finger to subdue them. The very rules of the *Tsukuyomi* would keep any enemies trapped.
Even those stronger than him would find their strength severely diminished due to the realm’s suppressive rules.
Leo could even manipulate the flow of time within the *Tsukuyomi*. This was the power of having a domain all to oneself.
“Where are you from? Why did you attack me? And what do you mean by true and false Dragonborn? Answer me truthfully,” Leo commanded, using his overwhelming mental power to force the truth out of them.
The three cultists, their eyes glazed over, began answering obediently.
“We come from Solstheim. We are followers of Miraak, the Dragonborn…”
