- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 474
In the days that followed, word spread throughout Skyrim and even across the entire continent of Tamriel. The hidden Blades circulated rumors that the Golden Dragonborn was going to face off against the World-Eater Alduin on the plains of Whiterun.
However, not everyone believed this rumor.
Most people thought that the World-Eater Alduin had been killed by the three Nordic heroes thousands of years ago, as recorded in the history books.
But many believed in the upcoming battle between the Golden Dragonborn and the dragons. Some were so intrigued that they began traveling from all over the continent to Skyrim’s Whiterun to witness this event and see for themselves.
The return of the dragons was a fact, and the existence of the Golden Dragonborn was confirmed by the Greybeards.
Meanwhile, Leo continued to gather information from the Greybeards about the locations of the Word Walls, traveling across Skyrim to learn new Dragon Shouts.
Along the way, he encountered many adventures and acquired various magical items of this world.
Most importantly, during this time, he visited every dragon burial mound that had not yet been revived by Alduin, forcing Alduin to resurrect each dragon one by one and transfer them into his own Tsukuyomi realm.
He didn’t kill these dragons or absorb their souls immediately.
According to his deal with Alduin, Leo could not kill the dragons until the final battle. Only then would Alduin agree to revive the remaining dragons.
During this period, Leo also made a trip to the Dark Brotherhood.
By asserting his role as the “Listener” and showing his absolute power, he forcibly brought this assassination organization under his control.
It was then that he learned the Dark Brotherhood had no great intelligence network of its own. Most of their information came second-hand from the Thieves Guild.
So, if someone performed the Black Sacrament to call for an assassination, without a Night Mother or Listener to guide them, the Brotherhood might not even know unless it was widely publicized.
However, since he no longer needed the Brotherhood to track down dragons, intelligence was not important to Leo.
He gave the Dark Brotherhood a simple order:
Recruit new members, expand the organization, and assassinate all members of the Imperial royal family, especially Emperor Titus Mede II.
Since he would later declare the unification of the continent, the current Imperial family would be the biggest obstacle.
As the Golden Dragonborn, Leo himself could not act directly, so it was best to let the Dark Brotherhood handle these killings. After all, no one would find it strange for them to strike.
The Dark Brotherhood had always been unpredictable in their assassinations.
On his path to future unification, many targets unsuitable for Leo to personally eliminate could be handled by the Dark Brotherhood.
As for any targets the Night Mother suggested? That was none of Leo’s business.
From Alduin, Leo also obtained some useful information.
This information concerned the first Dragonborn, Miraak, who had once tried to assassinate him.
It turned out that when Alduin sent the head dragon priest to kill Miraak long ago, Miraak was saved at the last moment by the Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora and hidden away in Mora’s realm.
Back then, Miraak had made some kind of pact with Mora, gaining access to his knowledge and creating a Dragon Shout that could enslave dragons.
So, Miraak’s current return was likely related to Mora in some way.
Originally, Leo planned to visit Solstheim and confront the first Dragonborn, but now that a Daedric Prince was involved, he decided it would be safer to wait until after he absorbed all the dragon souls.
Two months later, on the plains of Whiterun—
The plains were now surrounded by countless people from all over the continent, either seeking to confirm the truth of the rumor or to witness history.
Since Whiterun held a neutral position in the Skyrim Civil War, both Stormcloak forces and the Imperial forces from Solitude were present on opposite sides of the plains, not interfering with one another.
Other groups, such as the Argonians from Black Marsh, Imperials from Cyrodiil, Khajiit from Elsweyr, Redguards from Hammerfell, Bretons from High Rock, Dark Elves from Morrowind, High Elves from the Summerset Isles, and Wood Elves from Valenwood—
Representatives from various nations and cities had also come to observe the scene.
The dragons once ruled the entire continent, not just Skyrim.
If the crisis of dragon resurrection wasn’t dealt with, it would surely spread from Skyrim, the heart of the continent, to all the surrounding provinces.
At the same time, thousands of meters above the Whiterun plains—
Leo observed that the gathered crowd below was mostly complete, so he decided not to wait any longer. He immediately released Alduin and the eighty dragons that had been revived so far.
“Alduin, summon them. And don’t try anything funny.”
“Dovahkiin, I will be the one to survive this battle.”
Alduin glanced at his eighty followers, realizing that fighting Leo directly would be a losing battle. So, he opened his mouth and began to shout the dragons’ names:
“Odahviing, Kadanil, Iluxi, Odol…”
One by one, the names of the dragons were called out, and the powerful Dragon Shouts echoed throughout all of Skyrim.
Soon, roars from dragons sounded from all directions, gradually converging toward the Whiterun plains.
“Lord Alduin, we answer your call!”
The armies surrounding the plains, hearing the dragon shouts from the sky and seeing dragons flying toward the area from all directions, couldn’t help but draw their weapons in alarm.
After all, who wouldn’t be afraid to witness so many legendary dragons?
Perhaps the most nervous of all was Jarl Balgruuf of Whiterun, who had come in person.
The plains were very close to Whiterun city, and if all these dragons attacked Whiterun together, the city would be reduced to rubble.
Now all he could do was pray that the Golden Dragonborn Leo, whom he had met a few times, truly had the power to take on so many dragons by himself. Otherwise, he wouldn’t know where to turn to cry.
Or at least, if Leo could take out most of them, the remaining forces on the plains might have some hope of survival.
“Good, looks like everyone’s here. You all go down; I’ll make my entrance last.”
Seeing a total of one hundred and twenty dragons flying in, Leo couldn’t help but lick his lips. These dragons were the best nourishment for his spirit!
Alduin, looking at the two hundred dragons now gathered behind him, felt his confidence surge.
However, he refrained from disobeying Leo’s instructions. To be honest, Alduin wasn’t sure if he and his two hundred dragons could defeat Leo.
If he angered Leo now and got dragged back into that realm again, it would be over for him.
Alduin’s plan was simple: if the battle favored him, he would fight to kill Leo and reclaim his pride.
If not, he would use his dragons to stall for time. He knew Leo wanted to absorb their dragon souls, and this would be the perfect chance for Alduin to escape.
