At the top of the Egyptian Sphinx, Wanda and Leo lounged in their chairs, enjoying drinks bought from a Chinese night market and basking in the warm sun.
“Honey, you seem to have a lot more free time lately,” Wanda said, placing the fluffy Pygmy Puff that had crawled onto her belly aside and sipping her refreshing berry juice with a contented smile.
In the past, though Leo often made time for her, most of his hours were devoted to training, spending much of his time within his mystical seclusion.
But over the past few months, it seemed like Leo suddenly had all the free time in the world.
Now, they had ample opportunity to live life to the fullest together—watching the sunrise in Hawaii, surfing in the Maldives, dining in fine French restaurants, taking a boat ride in Venice, enjoying street food in China at night markets, occasionally sunbathing in Egypt, or even paying a visit to Antarctica to see the penguins.
In short, they did whatever made them happiest, wherever it took them.
“Yes, for the next two years, I might be pretty free,” Leo replied, pulling a bottle of sunscreen out from the Tsukuyomi World.
Although his Nascent Soul had largely stabilized and didn’t require any more seclusion, it still needed around two more years to fully settle into a state where he could transcend to the Earth Immortal realm.
So, during these two years, his main task was to maintain a balanced state of mind and wait patiently.
Of course, this didn’t restrict his power; it was just that keeping a calm and peaceful mindset would help his Nascent Soul stabilize faster.
Most cultivators would spend this stage in seclusion to calm their spirits, eventually emerging ready to transcend. However, Leo had no intention of shutting himself away in the main world; instead, he saw this as a great opportunity to spend quality time with Wanda.
“Come on, turn around. Let me put some sunscreen on you,” he said.
“I thought you said our bodies wouldn’t tan?” Wanda asked, confused, but she still turned over.
Leo had told her before that because of their dual cultivation, her body was beyond ordinary. Things like colds, sickness, fevers, or even tanning wouldn’t affect her anymore.
“Ahem… well, it’s all about the ritual, you know? Lying in the sun without applying sunscreen just feels like something is missing, right?” Leo explained seriously, squeezing a generous amount of sunscreen into his hand as he walked around to Wanda’s back.
Lying down on her lounger, Wanda closed her eyes. “You know what, you’re right. Go ahead, then.”
“Absolutely!” Leo happily slathered a large amount of sunscreen onto her fair back.
Two hours later, at the luxurious Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Paris, Wanda, now dressed in a red evening gown, couldn’t help but complain as she sat across from Leo.
“You said you were just putting on sunscreen, but then you sneak-attacked me from behind.”
“What can I say? My wife is just too alluring!” Leo shrugged, feigning helplessness.
At his words, Wanda couldn’t help but laugh. “Fine, I’ll let you off this time!”
While they laughed and chatted, Leo’s phone suddenly rang.
“It’s Thor. I haven’t heard from that guy in a while,” Leo said as he answered the call.
Thor’s boisterous voice boomed through the phone: “Brother! I’m getting married to Jane in three days! You better be there for the wedding!”
“No problem, I’ll be there,” Leo replied with a smile, surprised but understanding.
Given that Leo’s interference meant the Bifrost Bridge was never destroyed, there were no disruptions across the Nine Realms. This meant Thor didn’t need to constantly return to Asgard to quell uprisings, avoiding any relationship troubles or breakups with Jane.
It’s no secret that even the best of relationships struggle with long-distance. But now that Thor and Jane lived together in New York, any small squabbles were easily resolved, often by the next day. Over time, marriage naturally became the next step.
And with no financial burdens, unlike most couples hesitant about tying the knot, their path was clear.
Lastly, Loki, who always loved to stir up trouble, was currently dealing with Kang alongside his female variant in the TVA, so he wouldn’t be causing any wedding disruptions either.
Three days later, on the lawn outside a grand New York cathedral…
Iron Man Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, Captain America Steve Rogers and Winter Soldier Bucky, Quicksilver Pietro and Black Widow Natasha, Hawkeye Clint Barton and his family, Dr. Bruce Banner and Dr. Betty Ross, War Machine Rhodey, and Falcon Sam Wilson—all the Avengers were gathered.
Yes, even though Leo’s presence had changed a lot of things, it seemed that fate had still brought the Avengers together in this timeline.
The main reason for the Avengers’ assembly was that S.H.I.E.L.D., led by Nick Fury, had won an overwhelming victory over Hydra. Utilizing agents like Coulson, Fury successfully persuaded the heroes to form the Avengers.
However, leadership of the Avengers remained with Tony and Steve since most members distrusted the shady old spymaster, Nick Fury.
Of course, many stories unfolded during this period, but Leo, preoccupied with honing his cultivation, didn’t pay much attention to these events.
At one point, Fury had hoped to recruit both Leo and Wanda into the Avengers. But Leo, not fond of Fury, ensured that the agent couldn’t even set foot inside their community, being stopped at the gate by Xiao San and the other guards.
Among the Avengers, Quicksilver Pietro was more of an honorary member, primarily because of his relationship with Natasha. His main job was still delivering packages.
To ensure his brother-in-law’s safety after he decided to join the Avengers, Leo used nanotechnology he’d brought back from the future to craft a Vibranium suit for Pietro.
While Quicksilver’s speed was exceptional, his defense was lacking. With the Vibranium suit, his defense was greatly enhanced, making him a formidable force among the Avengers.
As for Dr. Banner, after Leo returned from the future, he shared insights from the 2023 version of Banner, who had successfully integrated Hulk and Bruce into one being. This allowed his own Banner to complete the same process, eliminating any worries of losing control.
It meant some struggle for Betty, his girlfriend, but with the special pills from Leo’s company, she adapted soon enough.
Now, even though Dr. Banner’s appearance was unique, he’d joined the Avengers to avoid complications, becoming a superhero to help fight crime and gain public acceptance.
This was why, even in his form, it wasn’t unusual to see children approach him for photos when he walked down the street.
Banner’s main profession, however, remained unchanged. Alongside Betty, he served as a top-tier scientist at Leo’s company, only moonlighting as a superhero when needed—much like Pietro.
