- MWM Chapter 489
“Perfect, this will make an excellent gift for Charlie’s one-month celebration.”
There were still twelve days until the Aether would appear, and Leo already knew the exact location from his time in the main timeline.
All he needed to do was arrive early and wait, and he’d be able to easily claim the Aether.
For someone as prepared as he was, this side quest posed little difficulty.
The only thing to be cautious of was that once the Aether was extracted, the Dark Elves, who had been slumbering in the depths of the universe, would awaken.
The Dark Elves originated from Svartalfheim, one of the Nine Realms, and were among the oldest races.
They existed even before the Celestials had created stars throughout the universe. However, over time, they had weakened due to the growing power of light.
In 2988 B.C., during the celestial event that occurs every 5,000 years—the Convergence of the Nine Realms—the Dark Elves’ leader, Malekith, attempted to use the Aether to plunge the Nine Realms back into darkness, sparking the First Battle of the Realms.
The outcome was that Odin’s father, Bor, used the Bifrost to seize the Aether, leading to the Dark Elves’ defeat.
Malekith was forced to retreat with the last of the Dark Elves aboard a massive warship, where they entered a deep slumber, waiting for the next Convergence 5,000 years later.
Physically, Dark Elves were slightly weaker than Asgardians, but their technology was incredibly advanced, rivaling the most developed planets in the universe even 5,000 years ago.
Additionally, they could extract energy from the Aether to transform ordinary Dark Elves into Cursed Warriors, significantly increasing their power.
Malekith’s strongest guard, after becoming a Cursed Warrior, could even overpower Thor in battle.
But that wasn’t much of a concern for Leo now.
After all, he had already dealt with Thanos, and a Cursed Warrior was far weaker by comparison.
As for Malekith himself, he was indeed formidable, particularly due to his deep knowledge of the Aether after years of study, which allowed him to expertly manipulate its energy.
However, Leo wasn’t foolish enough to let Malekith obtain the Aether.
After spending two more days at the hospital, learning a lot of parenting knowledge, Leo and Wanda took little Charlie home.
The following days were spent in practice, taking care of their daughter.
Unlike many first-time parents who become overwhelmed and stressed, Leo and Wanda found it quite easy.
Though Charlie, with her witch bloodline, was harder to manage than an ordinary baby, both Leo and Wanda were skilled in magic, making these problems easy to solve.
Leo could even create a shadow clone to watch over Charlie 24/7, ensuring no harm came to her.
Often, Wanda didn’t even need Leo’s help—her chaos magic alone was more than enough to take excellent care of their daughter.
Wanda, overflowing with motherly love, was remarkably patient with Charlie.
“Sweetheart, look here!”
In the bedroom, Wanda was holding a video camera, filming a very happy Charlie.
She planned to document every day of Charlie’s life, capturing all her milestones as she grew up.
Meanwhile, Leo used magic to lift Charlie into the air above the bed, posing her in various funny positions—spread-eagle, flying, hanging upside down, and more.
Once Wanda set down the camera, Leo handed Charlie back to her and then Disapparated, leaving temporarily.
Today was the 12th, and it was time for him to prepare a special gift for his daughter’s one-month celebration.
In London, England, in a semi-abandoned building, a few children were playing excitedly.
In their secret hideout, they had discovered a strange phenomenon: whenever they threw something from the top floor, it mysteriously disappeared halfway down and then reappeared, falling again from the rooftop, endlessly looping.
There was also a truck parked below that would float into the air whenever they touched it, as if gravity no longer applied.
As they were having fun, a figure suddenly appeared beside them.
“It seems this is the spatial rift that opens just before the Convergence of the Nine Realms.”
The figure was none other than Leo, who had just Apparated into the scene.
“Wow! Who are you? How did you appear out of nowhere?” the children exclaimed, startled but curious.
Leo glanced at the children, a playful glint in his eye, and said with a smile:
“Me? I’m a great wizard from the magical world. I discovered that this place is a portal between Hell and Earth, so I came to seal it.”
Ever since the birth of Charlie, Leo found himself viewing children much more fondly.
Perhaps this was why even people with a dark past tended to soften after starting families.
“A wizard! Hell!” The children’s eyes widened with amazement.
Leo conjured a handful of candy and handed it to them.
“Alright, time to leave. It’ll be dangerous if demons start coming through.”
With a flick of his thoughts, the children began to float, drifting gently out of the building and landing in the square outside.
Although this wasn’t truly a gateway to Hell, with the Convergence approaching, it was indeed dangerous for the children to stay there. A slight misstep could see them transported to another realm.
“Muggle-repelling charm.”
After sending the children out, Leo cast a Muggle-repelling spell on the building. For the next month, ordinary people would instinctively avoid the area.
“Wow, he really was a wizard!”
It wasn’t until they were outside in the square that the children realized Leo hadn’t been lying. He truly was a wizard.
Brimming with curiosity, the more daring among them tried to re-enter the building to witness the wizard’s battle with the demons. However, no matter how hard they searched, they could no longer find the building.
This magical experience became one of the most unforgettable memories of their lives.
They had once discovered a gateway to Hell, met a real wizard, and even received candy from him.
Meanwhile, inside the building, Leo sensed the spatial fluctuations and walked through the rift, arriving at the place where Bor had sealed the Aether so long ago.
Due to the approaching Convergence, the Aether was growing increasingly active, its energy on the verge of breaking through the seal.
Leo didn’t waste time. He immediately retrieved a device, inserted it into the seal, and activated the switch.
This was the machine Tony had given him in the main timeline, designed to absorb the Aether and convert it into the Reality Stone.
Moments later, the Aether, liquid and blood-like in appearance, was fully absorbed into the device.
With a press of the transformation button, the liquid Aether reverted to its original form—a beautiful red gemstone.
“What a beautiful ruby. This should make a fine gift for Charlie’s one-month celebration!”
Holding the Reality Stone in his hand, Leo smiled and vanished from the scene.
