MWM Chapter 5

This entry is part 6 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

In the evening, after finishing dinner, Leo returned to his room to begin his first chakra extraction.

After becoming Chiriku’s disciple, Leo sent Kina and the others back to the prince’s mansion. He came to the Temple of Fire to train, not to enjoy a life of luxury, so he did not need servants to attend to him.

This behavior made Chiriku secretly nod in approval.

Although he knew that starting chakra extraction and training at Leo’s age might only lead to becoming a lower-ranked ninja at best, he still hoped his disciple would put in some effort, as he was his disciple in name.

Of course, as a noble prince, Leo’s treatment was different from that of ordinary disciples. At least he had a private room and didn’t have to sleep in a large dormitory with the other monks.

“Hmm, it’s quite simple!”

Leo found his first attempt at extracting Sage Talent chakra to be much easier than Chiriku had suggested. It did not take a week or two to get started; instead, he smoothly harmonized the physical, mental, and natural energies in proportion, transforming them into Sage Talent chakra.

Upon reflection, he found this made sense.

What are the difficulties in extracting chakra? What determines the speed of chakra training? These were explained in detail by Chiriku earlier that day.

The main difficulties in normal chakra extraction are physical strength, mental strength, and control ability.

Sage Talent chakra added a bit of natural energy, but the amount needed was so small it was negligible.

The stronger the body and mind, the easier it is to sense and extract energy. The stronger the control, the more smoothly the three types of energy can be fused into chakra.

These aspects might be challenging for normal seven- or eight-year-olds.

But for Leo, it was very simple.

Firstly, his physical condition: training in martial arts emphasizes physical strength, with exercises like stance training, breathing techniques, and the sound of the tiger and leopard aimed at strengthening the internal organs and body.

Even without chakra and ninjutsu enhancing his body, Leo’s pure physical strength was likely far superior to that of an average lower-ranked ninja, perhaps even comparable to some mid-ranked ninjas.

Secondly, his mental strength: reaching the level of dark strength in martial arts and frequently engaging in life-or-death battles would undoubtedly forge a strong spirit and will. Coupled with his accumulated mental strength from two lifetimes, he was even stronger.

A clear manifestation of this was his exceptionally strong memory in this life, able to achieve photographic memory when focused.

Lastly, control ability: this was his strongest suit. As a martial arts expert, the basic requirement was to control every muscle in his body.

So when Leo began extracting Sage Talent chakra according to Chiriku’s method, it went very smoothly.

Additionally, given his physical condition, his chakra extraction speed far surpassed that of ordinary people since the speed is primarily related to physical strength.

The stronger a person’s vitality and body energy, the faster they can extract chakra, as seen with the Uzumaki clan of Naruto.

Of course, having a large amount of chakra doesn’t necessarily equal to strength. A ninja’s strength is judged by considering ninjutsu, taijutsu, experience, techniques, and other factors.

When Naruto was still a lower-ranked ninja, he had far more chakra than upper-ranked ninja Kakashi, but Kakashi could defeat Naruto with one hand.

Nevertheless, having more chakra is undoubtedly beneficial as it means that, all else being equal, the one with more chakra will win in prolonged battles. Additionally, many powerful ninjutsu require a large amount of chakra to be unleashed.

The next day, in the same training room.

“Chuan, extracting Sage Talent chakra is more difficult than normal chakra extraction, so you need to be patient. After last night’s attempt, if there are any aspects you don’t understand, feel free to ask. Our goal for the next two weeks is to extract chakra. Only with chakra can we proceed with further learning.”

Chiriku knew there would be many challenges when starting chakra extraction, and he feared his princely disciple might get discouraged. So he offered reassurance as soon as he sat down.

“Master, I have already extracted chakra!”

Leo smiled slightly.

He felt no need to hide his strength and talent from Chiriku. Instead, he believed in showcasing his abilities. Only if Chiriku saw potential in him would he teach him all the ninjutsu.

“What? You’ve already extracted chakra? That’s impossible! Regarding chakra extraction, you don’t need to feel pressured. It’s normal to take a few months to extract chakra…”

Chiriku did not believe that Leo had extracted chakra. His first reaction was that his princely disciple was too proud to admit any difficulty.

Having served as a bodyguard for the daimyo, Chiriku knew well that nobles were very concerned about saving face.

Leo did not explain further. Instead, he concentrated the Sage Talent chakra in his hand, emitting a faint golden glow.

Since he could not yet form seals or perform ninjutsu, he used this method to prove he had successfully extracted Sage Talent chakra.

Seeing the characteristic golden glow of Sage Talent chakra in Leo’s hand, Chiriku was momentarily silenced, his eyes wide and mouth agape.

He was certain that Leo had no chakra in his body the day before. Now, he was equally sure that the golden glow in Leo’s hand was indeed the unique Sage Talent chakra of the Temple of Fire.

Thus, this twenty-year-old prince had truly succeeded in extracting Sage Talent chakra in just one night.

At the same time, Chiriku felt a pang of regret. With such excellent ninja talent, if Leo had started as a child, he might have become a formidable upper-ranked ninja in the future.

What Chiriku did not know was that Leo had not spent an entire night but only a few seconds to smoothly extract the Sage Talent chakra, which was slower than normal chakra.

“Very good, you have great talent. I am very pleased. Since you can successfully extract chakra, today we will learn the basic hand seals of ninjutsu.

Most ninjutsu are performed through hand seals. There are twelve types of seals, each with unique hand gestures, some of which are quite complex.

Follow me and learn them one by one. Remember, precision is crucial; otherwise, the ninjutsu won’t be successfully executed.

The first seal: Rat!”

“Rat!”

Leo glanced at Chiriku’s hand gesture and immediately replicated it perfectly.

As a martial arts master with exceptional muscle control and a photographic memory, these hand seals posed no difficulty for him.

Chiriku scrutinized Leo’s hand gesture, initially intending to correct any mistakes but found none.

“Very good. The Rat seal is quite simple. Next, we will learn the Ox seal.”
