MWM Chapter 509

This entry is part 510 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“So, we meet again, Thanos!”

As the hatch of the Milano slowly opened, Leo stepped out with Mantis and Drax, raising his hand to greet Thanos with a friendly wave.

Thanos rested his hand on his chin, his large purple face wearing a puzzled expression as he stared at Leo.

“If I’m not mistaken, this is our first meeting,” Thanos said.

He had heard of this Earthling’s name, knowing he was somewhat capable, that he had defeated Ronan, and had a significant connection with the Augur Corporation. He was also the former leader of the so-called Guardians of the Galaxy.

However, this was indeed their first face-to-face encounter.

Yet the way Leo looked at him and his tone suggested otherwise.

“No, we met nine years from now, and I killed you once,” Leo said, shrugging his shoulders.

Hearing this, Thanos narrowed his eyes, his mind racing.

As the most brilliant scientist of Titan, he was not only a powerful warrior but also possessed an exceptionally high intellect.

It’s worth noting that the infamous Thanos army was created using Titan’s technology that he developed.

He quickly grasped the meaning behind Leo’s words.

“You’ve created a time-travel machine?” Thanos asked.

“No, Earthlings in the future created the time-travel machine. I just went back to lend a hand,” Leo replied openly.

Thanos sat up, a glimmer of interest in his eyes.

“If that’s true, then you must know my plan. Did I succeed nine years from now?”

“You did. You collected all the Infinity Stones, forged the Infinity Gauntlet, and wiped out half the universe’s population. In the end, you even destroyed all the Infinity Stones,” Leo said, watching the smile spread across Thanos’s face before continuing, “But unfortunately, Earth’s heroes built a time-travel machine, went back in time to collect the Stones again, and undid everything you did.”

“It seems my plan wasn’t perfect after all. Thank you for telling me this. You’ve given me a new idea. Destroying half the population was a mistake; as long as some survive, they will resist. Perhaps I should turn the entire universe to dust and then use the Infinity Stones to create new life. They will not hate me but only feel gratitude,” Thanos said, lifting his helmet and standing up from his throne.

He might not have fully believed Leo’s words at first, but hearing the details of his plan confirmed, he began to take it seriously.

As for Leo’s claim of killing him, Thanos figured it was likely that Leo had defeated the weakened version of himself after using the Infinity Gauntlet and destroying the Stones.

He didn’t believe that Leo could take on him at his peak, along with his cosmic army.

“Hand over the Orb, or you and your companions will die today,” Thanos demanded.

“The Orb is in my possession, but you lack the power to take it. As for my team’s fate, that’s not for you to decide,” Leo said, holding up the Orb before putting it away. With a flick of his finger, the metal cages containing the Guardians flew toward him.

“How dare you!” Ebony Maw, hovering near Thanos, shouted, using his telekinetic powers to halt the cages in mid-air.

“In the way,” Leo muttered, raising an eyebrow.

“Southern Ming Fire Sword, go!”

With a gesture, the Southern Ming Fire Sword, engulfed in blue flames, appeared in his hand and then shot toward Ebony Maw like a streak of blue light.

Thanos tried to intervene, but he couldn’t match the speed of the Southern Ming Fire Sword, wielded by Leo with the mastery of an Earth Immortal.

Before Thanos could even lift his weapon, the Southern Ming Fire Sword pierced straight through Ebony Maw and returned to Leo’s hand.

Ebony Maw’s body, pierced by the Southern Ming Fire Sword, shattered like a broken piece of pottery, his insides completely incinerated, turning into fine ash that dissipated into the air.

Such is the power of the Southern Ming Fire Sword. It can heal the gravest of injuries when used for good but will utterly annihilate foes in an instant when used in battle.

Without Ebony Maw’s interference, the metal cages holding the Guardians landed safely at Leo’s feet.

“Alohomora!”

With a wave of his hand, the energy-restraining metal cages made with Titan technology opened, and Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, Rocket, and Groot were released.

On the other side, Thanos’s face finally grew serious as he watched the ashes of Ebony Maw scatter in the wind.

For the first time, he realized that this Earthling, Leo, was indeed powerful and a true threat to him.

He acted swiftly and made a hand gesture.

Instantly, the colossal Sanctuary II above them activated its entire arsenal, targeting Leo below.

Simultaneously, every nearby ship and soldier in Thanos’s army turned their weapons toward Leo.

Thanos might have believed Leo was strong enough to be a match for him, but he didn’t think Leo could withstand his might and that of his entire cosmic fleet.

“So stubborn. Let’s see how you handle my new ability!” Leo said with a fearless grin. He turned to Star-Lord and said a quick word before disappearing in a flash.

In an instant, he reappeared next to the massive Sanctuary II.

“Ghost Rider!” he shouted.

Unleashing the power of the Spirit of Vengeance within him, Leo’s body transformed into a skeletal form wreathed in hellfire.

He placed his hands on the Sanctuary II.

“Become my steed!”

With a powerful roar, he channeled the hellfire of the Spirit of Vengeance, spreading it from his hands across the entire Sanctuary II.

That’s right—he intended to transform the entire Sanctuary II into his ride.

A Ghost Rider can turn any vehicle into their personal steed through hellfire.

Whether it was mammoths, horses, motorcycles, or cars that had been modified, all were mere toys compared to what Leo had in mind. They were far too slow to be of any use to him.

His target was nothing less than one of the most formidable warships in the universe, Thanos’s Sanctuary II.

A ship that could traverse the cosmos would serve him much better as a transformed mount.

Unlike ordinary Ghost Riders, who could only access a fraction of the Spirit of Vengeance’s power, Leo’s strength allowed him to harness most of its abilities.

Even the immense size of the Sanctuary II was no barrier to his power.

“Ghost Rider? No, I am the Ghost Captain!” Leo declared.

As Leo fully unleashed the power of the Spirit of Vengeance, the entire Sanctuary II was engulfed in hellfire, transforming dramatically in appearance.

As for Thanos’s pilots and soldiers inside, they were all reduced to ashes by the hellfire.
