- MWM Chapter 516
In the evening, after saying goodbye to Wanda, Leo teleported directly to Dr. Pym’s front door and pressed the doorbell.
“Ding dong!”
An elderly man with glasses and white hair opened the door.
“Who are you looking for?”
“I’m looking for you, Dr. Pym,” Leo replied with a slight smile.
Dr. Pym looked Leo up and down, feeling that he seemed familiar, but he couldn’t quite recall where he had seen him before.
“I didn’t expect you to have a visitor this late, Professor,” said a bald, middle-aged man in a suit, stepping out from behind Dr. Pym with a cold expression.
When the man saw Leo’s face, he froze for a moment.
“You’re Mr. Leo from Li Group!”
As the current head of Pym Technologies, Darren Cross knew all too well about Li Group, the world’s most profitable company, and its leader, Leo.
Especially since a few years ago, it was revealed that Leo was the hero who saved New York, known as the Sorcerer King, the mightiest Avenger.
Cross’s current goal was to transform Pym Technologies into a company even more powerful and profitable than Li Group by partnering with the government to sell suits and weapons made with Pym Particle technology to the military.
However, Cross’s expression suddenly changed to one of hostility. He believed that Leo was there to steal Dr. Pym’s Pym Particle technology for himself.
If Li Group got their hands on that technology and developed it further, it would ruin his plans completely.
“Professor, I didn’t know you were acquainted with Mr. Leo.”
“Who I’m acquainted with is none of your business. I’ll attend the press conference in three days as planned. You can leave now,” Dr. Pym said, dismissing Cross.
Cross’s words had reminded Dr. Pym of who Leo was. He immediately suspected that Leo had come because Scott Lang had tried to steal from the Avengers’ base earlier that day, possibly offending the Sorcerer King.
But what mattered more was that Cross’s sudden arrival had caught him off guard. If Cross discovered that they were plotting to steal the Wasp suit from the company and destroy all data on the Pym Particles, he would undoubtedly kill them without hesitation.
However, with Leo, the most powerful Avenger, present, at least Cross wouldn’t dare to act rashly.
Sure enough, upon hearing Dr. Pym’s words, Cross’s face darkened with anger. But when he looked at Leo again, he forced himself to suppress his rage.
“Sometimes, it’s wise not to be too greedy, or there won’t be a good outcome,” Cross said, casting a meaningful glance at Leo before turning to leave.
Originally, Cross had come to humiliate Dr. Pym and then brutally kill him, believing he had everything in control. But seeing Leo’s presence and Dr. Pym’s daughter, Hope, who he trusted, supporting Dr. Pym, threw him off balance.
He decided to hold off on his plan to kill Dr. Pym and rethink his strategy.
“That advice suits you more than anyone,” Leo replied indifferently, not even considering Cross a threat. He then turned to Dr. Pym with a smile, “Aren’t you going to invite me in?”
“Please, come in,” Dr. Pym said, stepping aside to let Leo enter.
Seeing that Cross had left, Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, who had been hiding in the bedroom, breathed a sigh of relief and came over.
“Thank you for scaring off Cross. Did Captain America send you to find me?” Scott asked, grateful for Leo’s help.
Earlier that day, Scott had been thrilled to meet his idol, Captain America, who invited him to join the Avengers. Scott had eagerly agreed, seeing it as a way to earn money, gain fame, and prove himself to his daughter.
His plan was to help Dr. Pym with his mission before joining the Avengers for training. He never expected the famous Sorcerer King to show up at Dr. Pym’s house, thinking that Cap must really value him.
“Scott, right? Tony mentioned you. But no, I’m not here for you. You’ll learn once you join the Avengers that I’m not officially a member. I’m just on good terms with them. Today, I’m here to talk to Dr. Pym,” Leo said, then turned to Dr. Pym with a smile. “I represent Li Group and would like to invite you to join our team of scientists.”
While completing his side quest was his main goal, Leo also hoped to recruit Dr. Pym into his company.
Although he already possessed knowledge of Pym Particle technology from his time-travel to 2023, advancing the technology further would require the expertise of Dr. Pym.
Leo never underestimated the power of science. Without his portable spiritual energy device, his cultivation in the primary world wouldn’t be possible.
Even the cosmic-level entities like the Celestials, who create stars and life, harness the power of technology.
“Mr. Leo, I appreciate your help, but I must decline your offer,” Dr. Pym replied firmly.
He knew the dangers of Pym Particle technology falling into the wrong hands. If someone like Cross got hold of it, it would be catastrophic for humanity.
Years ago, Dr. Pym left S.H.I.E.L.D. precisely because he saw signs that some agents were trying to weaponize his technology.
“I know you plan to steal Darren Cross’s Yellowjacket suit and erase all his data. If you agree to join my company, I can help you take care of that,” Leo offered, unfazed by Dr. Pym’s initial refusal.
Dr. Pym’s stubborn personality was well-known. After all, his feud with Howard Stark had become legendary. But Leo had another trick up his sleeve.
“No need. We’ll handle that ourselves,” Dr. Pym said after a moment’s thought, still turning down Leo’s offer.
Leo merely smiled. “How about this? I’ll help you rescue your wife, Janet van Dyne, from the quantum realm.”
“What! What did you say?” Dr. Pym’s eyes widened in shock.
Back in 1987, while working for S.H.I.E.L.D., his wife, Janet, had shrunk to the quantum level to disarm a missile headed for the United States. She had been lost in the quantum realm ever since.
Dr. Pym had never given up hope that Janet was still alive and had devoted his life to finding a way to bring her back.
Hearing Leo’s words, he couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming surge of emotion.
