- MWM Chapter 526
“Let’s check out the other two worlds!”
After some thought, Leo decided to visit the worlds of *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim* and *Saint Seiya*, as there were still many opportunities to explore in those places.
For instance, he had previously learned from Alduin that during the Dragon War, humanity’s victory was primarily due to their invention of a shout specifically designed to target dragons.
This shout, called Dragonrend, was an exceptionally unique Dragon Shout.
Theoretically, all dragons were fragments of the Time Dragon God Akatosh, with their souls imbued with divinity, making them immortal beings. Alduin, in particular, was considered the embodiment of the end of time.
In other words, their souls, much like Leo’s own, possessed attributes of immortality.
However, this Dragonrend shout could force dragons to experience the sensation of mortality, temporarily weakening their souls to the extent that they couldn’t fly and had to land to recover.
Humans used Dragonrend to ground the dragons and then collectively attacked them, eventually leading to their defeat.
So, if he could master Dragonrend, it might prove effective against Dormammu. If he could unleash Dragonrend with his level of power, even Dormammu’s avatar might be stalled for a moment.
This would prevent Dormammu from escaping, giving him a chance to defeat the entity.
The problem was that the Dragonrend shout seemed to have been lost to time.
“Let’s go to Skyrim first.”
Opening the panel, Leo’s surroundings shifted, and he found himself in the Imperial Palace above Whiterun Hold.
Since he hadn’t synchronized this world’s timeline when he left, the political situation in Tamriel was still in the stage where they had just captured the original Imperial capital and were demanding that the Summerset Isle’s Thalmor surrender within a week.
Leaving a shadow clone in the palace to oversee things, Leo teleported directly to High Hrothgar.
He now knew that the dragon residing at the peak of High Hrothgar was actually Paarthurnax, the dragon leader who betrayed Alduin to assist humanity.
After Alduin was banished into the currents of time by the three Nord heroes using the Elder Scroll, Paarthurnax secluded himself atop the Throat of the World. Later, he became friends with Jurgen Windcaller, the founder of the Greybeards.
When Jurgen Windcaller passed away, Paarthurnax became the mentor to all the Greybeards who followed.
So, if anyone still knew the lost Dragonrend shout, Leo guessed that it could only be this ancient dragon, Paarthurnax, who had survived since the Dragon War.
The summit of the Throat of the World was constantly surrounded by a powerful storm spell. Typically, only those who had mastered the Clear Skies shout could halt the storm and ascend the peak.
Naturally, Leo knew this Dragon Shout, but he didn’t actually need to use it. Given the current strength of his physical body, what could freeze ordinary people solid felt to him like nothing more than a gentle breeze.
After briefly greeting Arngeir, the leader of the Greybeards, Leo continued walking towards the storm-battered platform of the Throat of the World, much to Arngeir’s surprise.
On the platform, a massive brass-colored dragon lay meditating. Sensing Leo’s arrival, it slowly lifted its head, a look of curiosity crossing its face.
“Who are you? I sense the presence of Dovahkiin within you.”
“Greetings, Paarthurnax. I am a Dragonborn blessed with the soul of a dragon by Akatosh. I assume you have sensed Alduin’s return?”
Leo smiled as he spoke.
He knew from Arngeir that Paarthurnax seldom interacted with others during his meditations atop the peak, so even the Greybeards rarely visited him.
Thus, they had not yet informed Paarthurnax of his defeat of Alduin.
“So it was you. I did sense Alduin’s return, but soon after, I lost track of him. Have you come seeking my assistance?”
Paarthurnax nodded his massive head, his voice gentle and calm.
As a creation of Father Akatosh meant to oppose his elder brother Alduin, Paarthurnax was naturally inclined to help if the Dragonborn was willing to fulfill their destiny.
“I wish to learn the Dragonrend shout. Do you know of it?”
Leo asked directly.
Paarthurnax seemed to have anticipated this request from Leo: “You seek to oppose Alduin, yes? Dragonrend is a shout that only mortals can master, so I do not know it myself.
However, if you can obtain the Elder Scroll of Dragons, you could come to me, and I could teach you how to use the scroll to witness the ancient battle between the three heroes and Alduin. That way, you can learn it for yourself.”
To defeat Alduin, the Dragonrend shout was essential, and after confirming that Leo was indeed the Dragonborn, Paarthurnax had already guessed his intention.
This was also one of the reasons he followed Akatosh’s guidance to seclude himself on the mountain.
“So the Elder Scroll can be used in that way as well.”
Leo was surprised to hear Paarthurnax’s words.
He had already known that the Nords used the Elder Scroll to banish Alduin, which suggested it wasn’t a simple artifact. Now he understood that it truly was a treasure with temporal properties.
Currently, there were no records in all of Tamriel regarding the origin of the Elder Scrolls; they seemed to have existed since the world’s beginning.
He suspected they might be similar to primordial treasures that existed when the universe first came into being.
Moreover, there wasn’t just one Elder Scroll; there were many scattered across the world.
The most peculiar thing about them was that they seemed unquantifiable—sometimes there would be only a few, and other times a whole cache would appear, only to disappear later.
Leo speculated that all Elder Scrolls might actually be one single entity that could split and merge.
“Where can I find the Elder Scroll of Dragons?”
He asked.
Paarthurnax shook his enormous head: “That, I do not know. I have not left this place for thousands of years. You should ask Arngeir.”
“Understood, thank you.”
Although he didn’t learn Dragonrend directly from Paarthurnax, at least he now knew how to obtain it.
Compared to other dragons, Paarthurnax felt completely different. Other dragons exuded arrogance and brutality, traits inherent to their nature, while Paarthurnax gave off the aura of a wise, benevolent elder.
“Oh, by the way, you don’t need to worry about Alduin anymore. I defeated him before coming here, and I’ve also subdued his dragons, so you can continue your peaceful meditations.”
Just as he was about to descend the mountain to find Arngeir, Leo turned to Paarthurnax and mentioned this.
“What!”
Paarthurnax lifted his head, his eyes widening in disbelief, glowing like lanterns.
