MWM Chapter 53

This entry is part 54 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

The Body Flicker Technique is not a specific jutsu; rather, it refers to any technique that allows for rapid movement, which can be broadly categorized as a Body Flicker Technique.

Typically, it involves a sudden burst of internal chakra to enable high-speed movement. For instance, when Zabuza created a mist and moved swiftly within it to get close to Kakashi, that was an example of Mist Body Flicker.

The Third and Fourth Raikage, who use lightning chakra to enhance their speed, are known for their Lightning Body Flicker. Similarly, the Second and Fourth Hokage’s Flying Thunder God Technique also falls under the category of Body Flicker Techniques.

Among the most famous is Uchiha Shisui, who uses the Sharingan to create afterimages, earning him the moniker “Shisui of the Body Flicker.”

Leo used the simplest form of Body Flicker, which involves a sudden burst of internal chakra—a technique most ninjas with good chakra control can perform.

“Alright, that’s all for today’s class. Dismissed!”

Ten minutes later, Dr. Stern checked the time, ended his lecture on cellular biology, and prepared to leave the classroom for his lab.

At this moment, Leo also got up and headed towards the door.

However, before he could take a few steps, a stylish blonde female student blocked his path.

“Hey, my name is Lila. Which department are you in? I don’t think I’ve seen you before.”

Just before class ended, she had noticed an incredibly handsome guy sitting in the back row. Despite being Asian, his chiseled face and expensive-looking attire gave off a noble air.

In that instant, she decided to ditch her current boyfriend, the football team captain, to pursue this new man.

“I’m not a student here. I’m just here for some business.”

Leo politely shook the girl’s outstretched hand and then tried to move past her.

Knowing that women in this country were generally open and direct, he was similarly straightforward. A handshake was already very polite.

“No worries. I’m having a party at my place tonight. Would you like to come?”

Lila, unfazed by Leo not being a student, smiled and extended an invitation. Whether he was a student or not didn’t matter; having such a boyfriend would be impressive anywhere.

Leo paused, then gave the student a courteous smile:

“Sorry, but I’ve already promised my wife we’ll visit Chinatown tonight.”

“You’re… you’re married?”

Lila’s eyes widened in shock. She couldn’t imagine that such an outstanding man was already married.

“Then I wish you happiness!”

Disappointed, she could hardly believe that such an exceptional man would marry so early.

“Thank you.”

Nodding, Leo continued toward Dr. Stern.

However, just as he reached the door, he was stopped again. This time, it wasn’t a female student trying to flirt but a burly male student.

Of course, it wasn’t to flirt but to issue a warning.

“Hey, little monkey, I don’t care which department you’re in. Stay away from Lila, or I’ll shove your head up your ass!”

“Boom!”

The white male student was immediately kicked in the stomach by Leo, causing him to crouch in pain.

“Annoying.”

Without sparing the student another glance, Leo left the classroom and quickly caught up with Dr. Stern.

“Excuse me, are you Dr. Samuel Stern?”

“And you are?”

Dr. Stern looked at Leo, initially thinking he was a student, but Leo’s attire and demeanor suggested otherwise.

Leo pulled out a business card from his pocket and handed it over:

“I’m the chairman of the Li Group. I have something to discuss with you. Do you have some time now?”

“Li Group? Oh, I know. You produce the Tri-Color Pills. That’s quite an impressive invention. I’ve spent some time analyzing them. They contain…”

Upon seeing the card, Dr. Stern’s eyes lit up, and he began excitedly discussing a series of technical terms.

After a while, he realized he had lost himself in excitement and apologized:

“Sorry, I got a bit carried away. Let’s head to my lab, and we can talk there.”

“No problem. Dr. Stern, your passion for biological science is admirable. Lead the way.”

Leo nodded in satisfaction. The Li Group needed dedicated and talented biologists like Stern.

Unlike top universities like NYU and Columbia, Grayburn College was considered a second or third-tier institution even within New York City.

Therefore, Dr. Stern, a relatively unknown biology professor, was fortunate to have his own lab at this college.

“What brings you to me, Mr. Leo?”

Once in the lab, Dr. Stern, now calm, made a cup of coffee for Leo.

The fact that the chairman of a highly sought-after pharmaceutical company had personally come to see him was quite surprising.

Leo wasted no time and directly stated his purpose.

“Dr. Stern, I’m not one to waste time, so I’ll get straight to the point. I’ve read many of your published papers and agree with some of your theories.

I believe that with your talent, being a professor here is a waste. I’d like to invite you to join the Li Group. The salary and benefits will be ten times what you currently earn.”

“This… you’re asking a lot all of a sudden… I need some time to think.”

Dr. Stern was momentarily flustered by Leo’s proposition.

He hadn’t expected Leo to ask him to leave his decade-long job to join the Li Group.

Honestly, the tenfold salary increase wasn’t the main attraction. It was Leo’s appreciation and recognition of his work that moved him, causing some hesitation.

In his heart, he didn’t think he was inferior to the world’s top biologists, but due to certain limitations, he had yet to achieve notable success.

Capitalists are pragmatic. No matter how beautiful your theory is, without tangible experimental results and the ability to convert them into money, capitalists won’t invest heavily in your work.

Coming from an ordinary background, without investments for experiments, many of his theories couldn’t be realized.

If not for his lab at Grayburn College, he would have made even less progress, which was why he was somewhat tempted.

However, he hoped Leo would invest in his experiments rather than joining Leo’s group.
