MWM Chapter 537

This entry is part 538 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Hermaeus Mora is one of the sixteen Daedric Princes, possessing his own Oblivion realm, Apocrypha. He often uses his vast knowledge to lure mortals who seek and crave knowledge, pulling their souls into his domain.

His victims are typically mages who are passionate about studying magic.

One of those who had attacked Leo earlier, the first Dragonborn, Miraak, was seduced by Hermaeus Mora, leading him to betray Alduin and Akatosh.

“Yes, my champion, it seems you’ve heard of me. Spread my knowledge well, and bring more humans to worship me!”

Hermaeus Mora commanded Leo with a lofty tone.

“I am not your champion, nor will I spread your faith.”

Leo narrowed his eyes as he looked at the Daedric Prince before him.

The true form of a Daedric Prince cannot manifest in Nirn, and what stood before him was merely a projection of Hermaeus Mora.

Such a projection was of little concern to him.

Thus, he spoke without much caution or deference.

In reality, as long as he avoided the Daedric Prince’s realm, with his current power, he believed he could hold his own even if faced with a Daedric Prince’s true form.

“You have taken my *Oghma Infinium* and learned from my knowledge. Whether you admit it or not, you will become my champion, and this is only the beginning. We shall meet again.”

Hermaeus Mora, unperturbed by Leo’s attitude, vanished from the hall.

“It seems quite similar to Shuma-Gorath’s *Darkhold*.”

After Hermaeus Mora’s departure, Leo took the *Oghma Infinium* and entered his Tsukuyomi Dimension, where he opened the book.

The *Darkhold* of Shuma-Gorath similarly contains vast knowledge—whether one seeks magical secrets or scientific knowledge, it provides access to any information that exists within the universe.

The *Darkhold* is directly linked to Shuma-Gorath’s mental realm, acting much like a monitor to a computer.

However, while it grants knowledge, it also subtly influences the reader, twisting their thoughts and gradually altering their mindset under Shuma-Gorath’s sway.

Even powerful beings like Wanda and Doctor Strange could not entirely resist its influence.

Leo suspected that Hermaeus Mora’s *Oghma Infinium* worked similarly. However, compared to the immeasurable knowledge of the *Darkhold*, which spans countless universes, Hermaeus Mora’s library is limited to the world of Nirn.

This strategy would be effective on most individuals; those who read the *Oghma Infinium* would gradually develop a subconscious affinity for Hermaeus Mora, leading them to help spread his worship.

But this approach had no effect on Leo.

Firstly, his own spirit was robust enough to resist Hermaeus Mora’s subtle mental influences.

Secondly, he possessed his own dimensional space; as long as he was inside his Tsukuyomi Dimension, he could naturally block out any mental intrusions from Hermaeus Mora.

Two days later, Leo emerged from his Tsukuyomi Dimension and returned to the hall.

“It does contain some valuable knowledge,” he remarked.

During these two days, he had absorbed a wealth of information from the *Oghma Infinium*, especially regarding magic, which deepened his understanding of this world’s magical principles.

He even managed to deduce the spell for finding objects that Baldir had demonstrated, using the principles of clairvoyance.

Moreover, with time, he believed he could also develop a spell for locating people.

The principle was the same: using a person’s name to resonate with the world and thus find their precise location.

For example, if he needed to find Septimus Signus again, he could use such a spell to locate him. Once the spell was cast, he would be guided directly to the target’s exact position.

In fact, similar spells exist in the wizarding world.

While wizards had not yet developed such spells, magical creatures like owls inherently possessed this ability.

In the world of *Fantastic Beasts*, as long as a letter was addressed with the recipient’s name and handed to an owl, the owl could deliver it accurately to that person, no matter where they were.

Even if thousands of people shared the same name, the owl would never make a mistake, always finding the intended recipient—unless a concealment spell was used to block the delivery.

“Hermaeus Mora is not a priority right now. Since there are no clues here about the second Elder Scroll, I should retrieve the third one first.”

Without lingering on the northern ice fields, Leo flew directly toward the cave in the Pale Hold that housed the third Elder Scroll.

Half an hour later, as the sun set, a mountain with a massive statue of Mehrunes Dagon gradually came into view.

But as he approached the mountain, he suddenly stopped, his gaze shifting to a location at the mountain’s base.

“So these are vampires.”

With his sharp vision, he could clearly see what was happening at the base of the mountain.

A fierce battle was taking place outside a house, where a large group of vampires was attacking a base belonging to the Vigilants of Stendarr, who were clearly at a disadvantage.

The Vigilants are a widespread organization across Tamriel. They worship Stendarr, the god of mercy, compassion, and justice, and do not engage in worldly wars.

Their sole mission is to eradicate all forms of darkness on the continent, including vampires, werewolves, and various dark creatures from Daedric realms, protecting the safety of humankind.

They also assist in healing the sick, making them a welcome presence in every city.

“Durak, we can’t win this fight. Go, go to Fort Dawnguard and find Isran. We were wrong—the vampires are far more numerous than we thought!”

The leader of the Vigilants, a woman named Casidhe, shouted to the strongest member, Durak, as she struggled to fend off the attacking vampires and saw yet another Vigilant fall.

Vampires on the continent had always been scattered, so the Vigilants had never paid them much mind.

Previously, Isran, one of the Vigilants’ leaders, had warned that the vampires were far stronger than they appeared, urging them to take the threat more seriously. But she had dismissed his concerns.

Later, Isran took some of the Vigilants and left to form the Dawnguard, a group dedicated to hunting vampires.

It turned out that Isran was right. When one of the Vigilants accidentally discovered signs of a potentially sealed vampire artifact in a cave on the mountainside, they were immediately attacked by a large force of vampires.

These vampires were far more powerful than those the Vigilants had encountered before—they were organized, disciplined, and equipped with specialized vampire gear.

The Vigilants stood no chance against them.
