- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 545
The unexpected twist was that Valerica had been deceived by the Ideal Master. The Ideal Master wasn’t after the souls she had collected; he wanted the soul of Valerica, one of the oldest vampires.
However, Valerica was no easy prey. As one of the oldest vampires, she possessed formidable power and had a deep understanding of necromancy and the Ideal Master’s nature.
Even the Ideal Master couldn’t forcibly extract her soul. Instead, he imprisoned Valerica within the Bone City, assigning his three strongest guardians to maintain a barrier around her, waiting for her to willingly offer up her soul and submit to him.
This imprisonment lasted over a thousand years.
“Mother, how can we help you get out of this barrier?”
Realizing that her father Harkon intended to sacrifice her for his ambitions and that her mother truly cared for her, Serana’s resentment over her mother’s coldness from centuries ago vanished.
Valerica looked at her daughter and replied,
“You’ll need to defeat the three guardians maintaining the barrier together, and you’ll also have to avoid interference from Durnehviir, the dragon watching over this place. It’s too dangerous. Go back, Serana. Just hide from your father and live a peaceful life.”
She didn’t want her daughter to take any risks.
“Do you still have the Elder Scroll with you?”
Understanding the situation, Leo finally spoke, turning to Valerica with his question.
He hadn’t seen any sign of the second Elder Scroll on her.
“You… you can speak?”
Valerica was startled to hear Leo’s voice. She had assumed that this blue-flaming skeleton was just a necromantic construct controlled by Serana.
“He’s my human friend, named Leo.
He was the one who released me from my seal and protected me all the way here.”
Serana quickly explained to Valerica.
“Human?”
Valerica blinked in disbelief at the flaming skeleton, casting a look at her daughter as if she had lost her mind.
“Serana, you’ve always been a bit slow, but I didn’t think you could mistake a human for a necromancer’s minion. Have you been sealed away so long that something’s gone wrong with you?”
“I am indeed human. This is just a spell that temporarily turns me into an undead. After all, living people can’t enter this place.”
Leo clarified once more.
Serana added:
“Mother, that’s how it is. Do you still have the Elder Scroll? I don’t plan to run away anymore—I’m going to help Leo stop father’s plan.”
“Alright, if that’s your decision, then follow through with it. The Elder Scroll is safely kept in the Bone City. The three guardians are located…”
Valerica paused for a long time before finally nodding.
She understood that now that Serana was free from her seal, it was only a matter of time before Harkon’s followers found her.
Running away wouldn’t solve anything—she had been fleeing for a millennium, and Harkon was still as fixated on his plan as ever.
“No need for all that. This barrier isn’t a big deal.”
Leo wasn’t interested in wasting time. He drew out the Nanming Li Fire Sword and sliced through the powerful barrier in a single strike.
He figured that, while the Ideal Master was still observing him, he should seize the moment to get the Elder Scroll first. Fighting each guardian one by one would only give the Ideal Master more time to react, making things more complicated.
“Why are you just standing there? Time is tight, and there’s a lot to do. Go get the Elder Scroll, and let’s get out of here!”
After shattering the barrier, Leo sheathed his sword and urged the stunned mother and daughter.
“Yes, follow me, and I’ll show you where the Elder Scroll is.”
Valerica, recovering from her shock, led them deeper into the Bone City.
Having been trapped by this barrier for over a thousand years, she had tried countless ways to escape, so she was well aware of the barrier’s strength.
But to see it shattered so effortlessly left her genuinely shaken.
“This is the Elder Scroll. Take it and leave this place quickly!”
Valerica retrieved the Elder Scroll, which had been hidden in the Bone City for centuries, and handed it to Serana.
Serana took the Elder Scroll and passed it to Leo, her expression filled with disbelief as she asked,
“Mother, aren’t you coming with us?”
“You forget, I am also a Daughter of Coldharbour. Leaving here would only increase the chances of your father completing his plan to end the sun.”
Valerica gently patted Serana’s head, her eyes full of sorrow.
Just then, Leo, having secured the Elder Scroll, raised his hand and pointed to the dull sky:
“I think you’d better come with us. The Ideal Master isn’t going to let you go. Look.”
The two vampire women followed Leo’s gaze and saw a dragon approaching from the distance.
“No, it’s Durnehviir, the Overseer!”
Valerica’s face paled as she recognized the dragon.
Simultaneously, the dragon unleashed a thunderous roar in their direction.
The booming roar echoed through the Bone City, awakening countless undead thralls, which began to crawl out from the ground.
This dragon wielded necromantic powers.
“I’ll hold them off. You two need to get out of here!”
Valerica roared in defiance, transforming into her Vampire Lord form.
But then, she couldn’t help but curse under her breath.
Standing at the exit of the Bone City were three enormous, armored undead guardians, each standing at least seven or eight meters tall, weapons in hand.
They were the Ideal Master’s most powerful servants.
Valerica could potentially hold off Durnehviir if she fought with all her strength, but adding the three guardians into the mix made it impossible.
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle this.”
Leo’s forehead split open into a skeletal crack, transforming into a Rinnegan with nine tomoe, and from it, he summoned Thanos’s Sanctuary II ship.
The massive warship filled the sky above the Soul Cairn, stretching as far as the eye could see.
Leo pressed his hands onto the ship, engulfing it in hellfire, transforming it into his Hellfire Warship.
Every cannon on the warship opened, spewing out waves of hellfire that engulfed the revived undead thralls, guardians, and dragon alike, covering almost half of the Soul Cairn in flames.
With the Elder Scroll secured, he had no more reservations. It was time to cause chaos before the Ideal Master could react—burning through countless undead minions to weaken the Ideal Master’s power.
“No, what are you doing? I will destroy you!”
The powerful hellfire swept through the area, incinerating even the mighty guardians after a few seconds of resistance. Only Durnehviir, who managed to retreat just in time, survived the onslaught.
With half of the Soul Cairn’s souls consumed by the flames, the Ideal Master was infuriated.
