MWM Chapter 552

This entry is part 553 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Asgard, the Great Hall of the Bifrost.

Leo and Thor slowly appeared as they were transported via the Rainbow Bridge.

The last time he came to Asgard, Leo was just a capable young mage who helped Thor suppress Loki’s rebellion. At that time, Odin didn’t pay much attention to him.

But this time, things had changed. Leo’s strength had grown to the point where he was on par with Odin himself.

“Welcome to Asgard. The All-Father is waiting for you in the palace.”

Heimdall, the gatekeeper, gave a small bow to Leo, who smiled and nodded back.

“Come on, Leo, let’s go!”

Thor spun his hammer and flew toward the golden palace, while Leo followed closely behind as a streak of light.

Soon, the two landed on a balcony of the palace, where they found Odin waiting for them.

“Greetings, All-Father,” Leo said, giving a formal Asgardian salute. But Odin quickly stepped forward with a warm smile and helped Leo up.

“You’re Thor’s friend; there’s no need for such formalities.”

“That’s not what you said last time,” Leo thought to himself, but outwardly, he maintained his smile.

Respect always followed power, and now that Odin had sensed the immense strength within Leo, comparable to his own, his attitude was markedly different.

Leo understood this well. It was a natural reaction—even gods were not exempt from such behavior. Therefore, he didn’t mind Odin’s change in demeanor.

“About the Eternal Flame—”

After exchanging pleasantries, Leo cut straight to the point.

“Thor, your mother wants to see you about something,” Odin suddenly interrupted, turning to Thor.

Thor, unaware of any hidden meaning, waved at Leo and hurried off, thinking his mother truly needed him.

Once Thor left, Odin turned back to Leo and said, “I’m willing to give you the Eternal Flame, but I need a favor from you.”

“What kind of favor?”

Leo raised an eyebrow, already having a rough idea of what was coming.

Sure enough, Odin’s next words confirmed his suspicion.

“I need your help to seal my eldest daughter, Hela.”

Odin then explained the full story to Leo.

Before Thor, Odin had another child, a daughter named Hela. She was once Asgard’s executioner and the original wielder of Mjolnir. Hela had played a crucial role in Odin’s conquest of the Nine Realms.

However, after the conquest, a rift formed between them. Odin had grown weary of war and sought to rule the Nine Realms through peace, while Hela wanted to continue expanding Asgard’s dominion, aiming for universal conquest.

Unwilling to submit, Hela led her army of the dead in a rebellion. Odin sent the Valkyries to stop her, but Hela’s immense power decimated them, leaving only Valkyrie herself as the sole survivor.

Odin was then forced to confront Hela personally. He defeated her and sealed her in Norway on Earth.

Odin didn’t kill her outright for two reasons: first, out of familial love, hoping she might repent while in the seal; and second, by that point, Hela had already fused her power source with Asgard.

Killing her would have required destroying Asgard itself.

Now, with Odin’s life nearing its end, Hela showed no signs of remorse. Once Odin passed, the seal would break, and no one in Asgard would be able to stop her. Given Hela’s nature, the Nine Realms would once again be plunged into chaos and bloodshed.

According to prophecy, Surtur, the fire giant, was destined to take back the Eternal Flame and trigger Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods. Asgard would be destroyed, and Hela would perish alongside it.

However, if Leo took the Eternal Flame, that prophecy could not be fulfilled.

Normally, Odin wouldn’t have agreed to give up the Eternal Flame. But seeing that Leo, once a mere Earthly mage, had now grown to match his own power, Odin had arranged this meeting.

If Leo helped strengthen Hela’s seal, even after Odin’s death, the seal would hold as long as Leo lived. Hela would remain trapped, and eventually, Thor could reinforce the seal once he matured to Odin’s level.

In this way, Ragnarok could be avoided, sparing Asgard and its people from destruction.

Previously, Odin had asked the Ancient One for help, but she had declined, saying she would die even before him.

“No problem, I know a thing or two about sealing magic.”

After hearing Odin’s explanation, Leo readily agreed. Sealing Hela was a simple task for him. Not only would he get the Eternal Flame to complete his Tsukuyomi World, but he’d also finish a side quest.

Yes, as soon as Odin began talking, Leo’s system had issued a side quest to seal Hela, with the reward being one year of time in his small world.

Seeing Leo agree so readily, Odin’s face lit up with a smile.

“Then there’s no time to waste. Let’s go!”

To save time and obtain the Eternal Flame as quickly as possible, Leo and Odin returned to Norway on Earth to reinforce Hela’s seal.

“Haha! Odin, you hypocrite! I will never submit! I know you’re close to death, and once you’re gone, nothing will stop me. I will slaughter everyone who opposes me and rule the Nine Realms as their true master!”

From within the underground seal, Hela’s laughter echoed as she sensed Odin’s presence.

Over the years, Odin had frequently visited her, attempting to sway her with familial love, but Hela wasn’t fooled.

She had long noticed Odin’s power waning, his death approaching. A few more years, and the strength of the seal would dissipate. She would once again become the unstoppable Goddess of Death.

“Hela, my daughter, it’s not too late to change your ways. If you sincerely repent, I will release you. Otherwise, you’ll remain sealed for eternity.”

Odin looked down at his eldest daughter, sighing deeply.

But Hela didn’t care. She continued to hurl insults, calling him a hypocrite, and arrogantly proclaiming her future revenge.

Eventually, Odin had heard enough. He turned to Leo, who had been quietly watching the spectacle.

“Let’s begin.”

The two of them then set to work reinforcing the seal.

Odin strengthened the existing seal, while Leo added layers of his own, employing all sorts of sealing techniques—ninjutsu, magic, and Daoist arts—all at once.

Odin, watching from the side, couldn’t help but widen his eyes in astonishment.

Even if Odin’s seal were completely removed, Leo’s multitude of powerful seals would still be more than enough to keep Hela trapped indefinitely.
