MWM Chapter 584

This entry is part 585 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Summary and Announcement from Author

With the completion of this book, the *The Lotus Lantern* world will soon come to an end.

To summarize, perhaps because there were too many worlds and the system was too complex and poorly integrated, this book didn’t perform as well as the previous one. The initial subscription count was only 300. Although I worked hard and managed to reach an average of 1,500, it ultimately couldn’t reach the high-quality tier.

Therefore, the new book launched today will not focus on the multiverse but will instead concentrate solely on the Marvel storyline.

The story begins in the Marvel 838 universe—the one where Wanda annihilated the Illuminati.

The starting location is Sokovia, in the year 2000, with Wanda as the female lead.

If you’re interested, please add it to your bookmarks and consider investing. I’m deeply grateful (^^).

(Take my knee!)

Rest assured, this book will continue with two updates per day until it’s properly finished.

====================

In the Heavenly Court, within the Queen Mother’s palace, the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother listened as the old Dragon King tearfully recounted the death of his son, the Third Prince Ao Bing, at Nezha’s hands. Watching Leo standing there with a serene smile, the two deities felt a headache coming on.

Under normal circumstances, they would naturally side with the Dragon King. However, they had just promised Leo that any mistakes made by the Chan Sect disciples, as long as they weren’t severe, would be treated leniently.

To go back on their word now would be a humiliating slap in the face.

Moreover, Leo still held the recording stone. If they reneged on their promise and he caused a stir, it would be a major embarrassment for the Heavenly Court, not to mention further troubles for the Great Golden Crow.

*Cough cough*, “Ao Guang, Nezha is just a child. As Li Qing said, let him return and be properly disciplined by Taiyi Zhenren. There’s no need to demand a life for a life.”

In the end, it was the Queen Mother who spoke first.

Such a matter was difficult for the Jade Emperor to address directly, so she hinted at it instead.

In her eyes, the son of the Dragon King was insignificant compared to the Great Golden Crow. If not for the Heavenly Court’s reputation, she wouldn’t bother with such a trivial matter.

“But, Your Majesty, my son is dead! His soul is scattered—how can this be… this be…”

Ao Guang was stunned. This was not what he had expected.

At this moment, Leo interjected:

“From what I’ve heard, Ao Bing often came ashore with the Sea Patrol Yaksha, using his status and the fear mortals have of the dragon clan to commit numerous atrocities. He killed more than just one or two innocent mortals.

If we were truly to demand a life for a life, how many times would Ao Bing have to pay?”

Leo smiled faintly.

“Nezha’s actions could be seen as delivering justice on behalf of Heaven, restoring the honor of the East Sea Dragon Palace. The Dragon King should be grateful.”

“You lie! My third brother never harmed any mortals!”

The Fourth Princess shouted angrily, unaware of Ao Bing’s deeds.

The old Dragon King remained silent. He knew all too well what Ao Bing had done, but the lives of mere mortals meant little to him. However, such matters could not be publicly acknowledged.

“I believe the Dragon King and the Fourth Princess were unaware of this. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have allowed Ao Bing to wreak havoc.”

“So, let’s do this: Let the Jade Emperor send some celestial soldiers with us to investigate. We’ll question the shrimp soldiers and crab generals of the Dragon Palace and speak to the mortals living along the coast.

With a proper investigation, the truth will come to light.”

Leo turned to Ao Guang:

“Dragon King, don’t you think this is a reasonable suggestion?”

“Let’s go right now. If Nezha is lying, I’ll willingly exchange my life for his. But if it’s true, then every dragon of yours who has harmed mortals will face my wrath. I won’t spare a single one!”

Nezha brandished his Fire-tipped Spear, his powerful aura making the Queen Mother raise her eyebrows in surprise.

She hadn’t expected the Chan Sect’s third-generation disciples to be this formidable.

“Nezha, that’s enough. Put away your spear. Ao Guang is the Dragon King of the East Sea, a dignified official of the Heavenly Court. If any of his kin have harmed mortals, it won’t be up to you to mete out justice.”

Leo’s smile remained, while Ao Guang’s face turned pale.

“There’s no need to trouble the Heavenly Court,” Ao Guang finally said. “I assure you, my son Ao Bing would never harm mortals. Perhaps there’s been some misunderstanding.”

“Li Qing is right. It’s better to resolve enmity than to deepen it. Nezha is just a child. Holding a grudge against him would make me seem petty. Let’s leave it at that.”

With reluctance, Ao Guang conceded.

He knew that a thorough investigation would implicate many of his offspring, and perhaps even himself, for the deaths of numerous disrespectful mortals.

The Fourth Princess, hearing this, turned pale. By now, she understood that Nezha and Li Qing had spoken the truth—Ao Bing had indeed harmed many mortals.

“Hmph, I…”

Nezha still wanted to argue, but Leo silenced him with a touch.

“Nezha, let it go. If you provoke the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas, they could easily retaliate against the mortals living along the coast.”

Leo knew that even though the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother looked down on the dragon clan, they wouldn’t truly risk alienating them over this matter.

Hence, there would be no investigation. Forcing the old Dragon King to back down was enough.

Moreover, the Four Seas Dragon Clan wasn’t without powerful figures. Pushing them too far could lead to unwanted consequences.

“Ao Guang, it’s good you think this way. I’ll send someone to pick a couple of peaches for you to take back. You have plenty of children—focus on raising them well.”

The Jade Emperor offered a small token of goodwill, seeing Ao Guang’s concession.

Outside the Southern Heavenly Gate, Leo clasped Ao Guang’s hand sincerely.

“Dragon King, though there was some misunderstanding today between the Dragon Palace and the Chan Sect, I trust it won’t affect our relationship. In the future, you are welcome to visit Jinxia Cave on Yushan Mountain.

We can sit, discuss the Dao, drink tea and wine—it would be delightful!”

“Taoist Li Qing is right. I have always respected the Three Sects. I harbor no other intentions.”

Ao Guang’s demeanor shifted to one of warmth and hospitality.

As the leader of the Four Seas Dragon Clan, Ao Guang was no fool. With the truth now clear, he needed to adopt the stance most beneficial to the dragon clan.

Offending the Chan Sect was unwise. Li Qing wasn’t the one who killed his son—Nezha was. Building a rapport with Li Qing didn’t diminish the dragon clan’s dignity.

Moreover, having overheard the earlier incident where Li Qing beat up the Great Golden Crow, Ao Guang understood it was best not to provoke this cunning and capable disciple unless absolutely necessary.

“Hahaha, well said!”

Leo and Ao Guang laughed together, seeming like old friends of thousands of years. Nezha and the Fourth Princess stood stunned behind them.

After parting ways with the Dragon King and Fourth Princess, Leo asked Nezha:

“Is Uncle Taiyi in seclusion at Kunlun Mountain?”

“No, Master said he’s in seclusion at Jin Guang Cave on Mount Qianyuan.”

Nezha was now thoroughly impressed with his cousin, who was stronger, smarter, and even managed to turn Ao Guang from an enemy into a friend.

“Let’s go find Uncle Taiyi. I have something important to discuss with him.”

Leo then explained the entire situation with Yang Jian’s family.

After hearing the story, Nezha was immediately willing to help.

“The Jade Emperor is so heartless. Don’t worry, Cousin. I’ll take you to Master right away and see if he has any ideas on how to rescue the Eldest Princess.”

“The main issue is that Yushan Mountain is no longer safe. Uncle Taiyi’s Jin Guang Cave is much more concealed.”

Nodding, Leo flew with Nezha towards Mount Qianyuan.
