MWM Chapter 7

This entry is part 8 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“Ninjutsu is just the beginning for you. I will teach you new techniques gradually, but starting today, we will focus on practical combat training.

As a ninja, ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu are merely tools for battle. The ultimate goal of learning these skills is to defeat your opponent.

Therefore, learning to fight is the most important thing.”

After examining Leo’s proficiency with the three basic techniques, Chiriku led him to the training ground of the Temple of Fire.

Originally, Chiriku had not planned to include practical combat in Leo’s training. The thought of the noble prince getting injured was concerning, as it could bring trouble to the Temple of Fire. Teaching him some flashy ninjutsu to keep him entertained seemed like the safest approach.

However, his perspective had changed, and now practical combat training was essential.

At that moment, the ninja monks of the Temple of Fire were engaged in their daily taijutsu training. Enhanced by the Sage Talent chakra, their skills were quite impressive.

Chakra can vitalize cells and enhance physical functions, especially lightning-based chakra, which has particularly evident effects. The Sage Talent chakra of the Temple of Fire also has advantages in this aspect, making taijutsu the primary combat style for most ninja monks.

Additionally, the Temple of Fire lacked the extensive ninjutsu library that Konoha possessed, contributing to their focus on taijutsu.

“Chuan, have you learned any basic combat techniques before?”

Chiriku led Leo to a corner of the training ground and asked.

While most nobles did not learn ninjutsu, they usually studied some basic combat techniques from a young age, primarily swordsmanship and kenjutsu.

Before engaging in combat, Chiriku needed to gauge Leo’s level to tailor his training plan accordingly.

“Master, I have learned some and often practice at home.”

Leo smiled modestly, but the confidence in his tone did not escape Chiriku’s notice.

“Kuuhai, come here.”

After some thought, Chiriku called over a young monk who appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen years old.

“This is Kuuhai, with the strength of a lower-ranked ninja. Spar with him.”

He then cautioned Kuuhai,

“Kuuhai, do not use ninjutsu or chakra. Be mindful.”

Chiriku wanted to assess Leo’s combat level without overwhelming him, fearing that using chakra and ninjutsu would be too much for Leo and might discourage him.

Kuuhai bowed to Chiriku:

“Understood, Head Monk.”

Although he wouldn’t dare injure the prince, the idea of sparring with someone of such high status was an exciting prospect for Kuuhai.

The ninja monks were aware of Leo’s princely status but had little interaction with him as he spent most of his time in solitary training. Like Chiriku initially, they assumed the prince was merely here for amusement.

Seeing Kuuhai preparing to spar with Leo, the monks gathered around with expressions of anticipation and interest.

Chiriku did not intervene but ensured there was enough space for the spar.

While he instructed Kuuhai to be cautious, he also saw value in Leo recognizing his weaknesses, which could motivate him to improve. Guiding a disciple involves balancing encouragement and pressure.

“Kuuhai, please guide me.”

Standing in the center of the training ground, Leo’s face showed a rare hint of excitement. He was eager to see how a lower-ranked ninja’s abilities compared to his own martial arts skills.

“Here I come, junior brother.”

After a brief warning, Kuuhai assumed an offensive stance and swiftly charged at Leo, aiming a punch at his abdomen.

Leo’s eyebrows furrowed slightly before relaxing again.

“Indeed, this isn’t Konoha. A lower-ranked ninja here can’t compare to Sasuke or Naruto, especially without chakra enhancement.”

In Leo’s eyes, Kuuhai’s movements were full of openings, and his speed was slower than expected.

To the onlookers, however, Leo seemed frozen with fear, though Chiriku noticed something different in Leo’s expression.

“Forgive me, junior brother!”

Despite Leo’s apparent hesitation, Kuuhai did not hold back, his punch aimed directly at Leo’s abdomen, though with reduced force.

But instead of the expected impact, Kuuhai’s fist hit only air as Leo disappeared from his sight.

“Substitution Jutsu?”

Kuuhai’s first thought was that Leo had used a common ninja technique to evade the attack. However, there was no substitution item in sight. Instead, Leo’s calm voice came from behind him.

“Kuuhai, use your ninjutsu and chakra. Otherwise, you’re not my match.”

As Kuuhai had lunged at Leo, Leo sidestepped and moved behind him with a swift and light step.

If Leo had counterattacked, Kuuhai would already be on the ground.

“Impossible!”

Startled by Leo’s voice, Kuuhai turned and launched a roundhouse kick, only to miss again as Leo easily evaded.

Entering the temple at nine and training for seven years to become a lower-ranked ninja, Kuuhai couldn’t believe his combat skills were inferior to a pampered prince.

Kuuhai attacked with a flurry of punches and kicks, but without using chakra, his assaults were futile. Leo, as agile as a swallow, dodged effortlessly, exploiting angles that seemed impossible.

Exhausted and panting, Kuuhai was clearly outmatched, while Leo remained calm and unruffled, as if on a leisurely stroll.

“Kuuhai, use your full strength!”

Chiriku, observing from the sidelines, was now beaming with excitement. He never imagined that Leo possessed such high-level combat skills.

Kuuhai wasn’t weak, yet he couldn’t even touch Leo’s clothing. Their combat abilities were on entirely different levels.

Although Kuuhai had not used chakra or ninjutsu, neither had Leo.
