- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 80
“Hand over my technology? That will never happen. Goodbye, you jokers!”
Amidst a round of applause, Tony stood up, and before leaving, he blew a kiss to Senator Stern, who was fuming with anger.
Leo quietly exited with the crowd, while his shadow clone, disguised as a security guard, stayed behind at the hearing.
“Damn Stark! Sooner or later, I’ll take him down, just like I did with his father!”
Senator Stern, seething with rage, slammed his fist on the hearing table.
He had thought this time he could force Tony Stark to hand over the Iron Man suit technology. But not only did he fail, he ended up looking like a fool, becoming the object of ridicule.
“Why don’t we just kidnap him and force him to hand over the technology? After all, we’re already at war with Nick Fury, so there’s no need to worry about exposure,” said the HYDRA agent standing beside Stern, puzzled.
In his view, abducting Tony Stark would naturally lead to obtaining the suit’s technology, avoiding all this hassle.
But Stern shook his head. “Don’t underestimate that guy. His Iron Man suit isn’t so easy to deal with. And while we’ve been exposed to some extent, the Security Council still hasn’t made a decisive judgment.
If the operation goes wrong and Nick Fury catches wind of it, we’ll be in serious trouble.”
The U.S. government wanted Stark’s technology, but as long as Stark was willing to hand it over voluntarily, they could quietly copy it without any risk or suspicion.
“I won’t be in New York for the next couple of days. How’s the situation with the Li Group?”
Rubbing his fist, Stern started to leave the hearing with several HYDRA agents guarding him.
“There’s been some trouble. All those involved have been killed over the past few days. The methods were very professional, leaving no traces,” replied the lead agent.
Stern frowned. “No wonder Garrett said the Li Group might be tough to deal with. I didn’t expect them to have this kind of strength.”
“Wind Release: Gale Dance.”
As Stern and his guards pushed open the doors to leave the hearing, Leo’s shadow clone immediately performed a Wind Release jutsu, creating a sudden gust of wind that blew towards them.
“What a strong wind!”
The unexpected wind caught them off guard, and they instinctively raised their hands to shield their eyes.
At that moment, a small explosive tag, carried by the wind, slipped unnoticed into Stern’s suit pocket.
When the wind died down, Stern and his guards thought nothing of it and continued through the security scanner, heading toward his car outside.
The HYDRA agents carefully scanned the car with their devices before Stern got in.
As a HYDRA mole who had risen to the rank of senator, Stern’s safety was of utmost importance to HYDRA, and his protection detail consisted of elite agents. Ordinary assassination attempts posed no real threat to him.
So, when he heard that the wealthy people who had troubled the Li Group had all been assassinated, he was surprised but not fearful.
Once Stern was fully inside the car and the engine was running, Leo’s shadow clone in the hearing room allowed a slight smile to cross his face before silently forming a hand seal to trigger the explosive tag.
“Boom!”
A thunderous explosion erupted, and Stern’s car, which had just started, was instantly engulfed in flames.
The explosive tag wasn’t particularly powerful, comparable to a modern grenade—nowhere near the destructive force of larger explosives.
But it had one advantage over modern explosives: its stealth.
No matter how advanced a bomb is, it can still be detected by more advanced devices and often defused before it detonates.
However, an explosive tag appears as nothing more than a piece of paper with some mysterious symbols drawn on it. Without a hand seal to trigger it, no modern equipment can detect it.
The person holding it wouldn’t see it as a threat, not even bothering to be cautious.
You could even place an explosive tag on the president’s desk, and he might not see it as dangerous—he might even pick it up out of curiosity. Once you’re a safe distance away, a simple hand seal is all it takes to finish the job.
“All done!”
After watching the scene outside through the window, Leo dispelled the shadow clone.
Meanwhile, aboard Tony’s private jet, Leo’s real body received the memories of the clone and allowed a faint smile to form on his face.
He was confident that from now on, any competitors or HYDRA agents would think twice before crossing the Li Group.
……
“Tony Stark refuses to hand over his Iron Man suit technology at the Washington hearing.”
“Senator Stern killed in a car bomb explosion after the hearing. Police speculate that the bomb was planted in the vehicle beforehand.”
“Li Group announces a new Gold Pill that promises to cure cancer with just one dose, eradicating cancer as a deadly disease once and for all. Dr. Thabo Freeman, what’s your take on this?”
“Impossible. I admit that the Li Group’s Tri-Color Pills are effective, but they’re just a company making health supplements. What makes them capable of developing a cancer cure?
Do you even know who’s leading the research at the Li Group? A nobody named Samuel Stern, who used to teach at Greyburn College and has never published anything noteworthy.
And now they claim one pill can cure all cancers? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard this year. If it’s true, I’ll run around the Statue of Liberty a hundred times naked!”
Leo sat in his office, watching the latest headlines projected on the wall. He turned to Jack, standing before him.
“The Gold Pill is already in production, and all the necessary approvals are in place. You can go ahead with your plan to launch it.”
“Don’t worry, boss. With the immediate effects of the Gold Pill, once it hits the market, even without much promotion, real, documented cases of cured patients will have every media outlet clamoring to report it.”
Jack’s confidence was evident now that the pills were ready for market.
He knew that once the Gold Pill was released, the Li Group would quickly rise to become the most powerful pharmaceutical company in the world. No other product could compare to the Gold Pill.
The Gold Pill would become legendary, cementing its place in human history.
Leo nodded and then turned to Xiao Wu, standing nearby.
“As for that Dr. Thabo, I expect to see the news of him running naked around the Statue of Liberty in a few days.”
“Boss, you can count on it,” Xiao Wu replied with a cruel smile.
