**Chapter 114: Why Don’t You Follow the Usual Rules?**

The roar of the engine echoed across the wilderness.

Sniper Old Three was practically stomping on the gas pedal, but with the rough terrain littered with rocks and sand, his off-road vehicle couldn’t pick up much speed. Despite his best efforts, he could only manage about 100 kilometers per hour without risking a rollover.

One hundred kilometers per hour was certainly fast. Even on the highway, few would criticize this speed. But, shockingly, a figure was chasing after Old Three’s car—drawing closer with every second.

Who could keep up with a speeding car on foot?

Anyone asked would have laughed and said, “Impossible!” And yet, this seemingly impossible feat was happening.

Old Three glanced repeatedly in the rearview mirror. After confirming he wasn’t seeing things, dread crept over him.

“What… what kind of monster is he?”

Desperation filled his eyes as he saw the figure closing in on him.

The next moment, an immense force slammed into the car.

Old Three’s vehicle flipped over, like it had been hit by a truck, rolling several times in the dirt. Mud, debris, and shattered glass flew everywhere until the car finally came to a halt, wedged against a large tree.

The vehicle was a wreck, twisted and mangled beyond recognition.

As Fang Ye calmly approached, he found Old Three trapped in the driver’s seat, his body bloodied and broken. A branch had shattered the windshield and pierced through Old Three’s abdomen.

It was clear that, even if Fang Ye did nothing, Old Three wasn’t going to make it.

Fang Ye was about to question him when Old Three, gasping in pain, coughed up blood and said, “I’ll tell you who hired us if you just give me a quick death!”

Momentarily taken aback, Fang Ye raised an eyebrow.

*He’s not exactly following the usual script here.*

Seeing Fang Ye nod, Old Three continued, “We’re just paid to do a job. Everything started with Wang Liang from Wu Sheng Academy. He told the Zhao and Lu families that you killed their heirs in Forbidden Zone No. 3. That’s what spurred their murderous intentions… All your information and movements came from him…”

Old Three coughed up another mouthful of blood, his face twisted in pain.

“That’s all I know… give me a quick end!”

Fang Ye nodded, raising a finger and pressing it lightly against Old Three’s forehead.

“Thunk!”

Fang Ye’s finger pierced Old Three’s skull like a blade, mercifully ending his suffering by destroying his brain.

Since Old Three had been so cooperative, Fang Ye had no reason not to keep his word.

Then, he activated his fire ability, setting the wrecked vehicle ablaze.

As the flames engulfed the car, Fang Ye’s eyes turned cold.

*Wang Liang, the Zhao family, the Lu family…*

While the Zhao and Lu families deserved retribution for their assassination attempt, Fang Ye reserved his fiercest anger for Wang Liang.

Though Fang Ye had indeed killed Zhao Fusheng and Lu Feng, Wang Liang had no concrete proof. Driven by his own agenda, Wang Liang had chosen to manipulate the Zhao and Lu families’ anger against Fang Ye. And to make matters worse, he’d conspired with these killers, revealing Fang Ye’s movements.

If Fang Ye didn’t deal with Wang Liang, he’d be letting him off too easily.

Watching the burning car, Fang Ye turned and walked away.

An hour later, he returned to the city as night fell.

He took out his phone and dialed Su Ziqiu’s number.

“Fang Ye?” Su Ziqiu’s delighted voice came from the other end. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine!” Fang Ye replied, smiling. “I’m almost at the hotel.”

“Perfect, we’re all waiting here for you.”

“By the way, has Mr. Yan contacted you? How are things on his end?”

“Things have been rough there. They lost quite a few people… But they managed to deal with the beasts. They should be back soon.”

Relieved, Fang Ye responded, “Alright, I’ll see you soon.”

A short walk later, he arrived at the hotel, where Su Ziqiu and several classmates were waiting at the entrance.

“Fang Ye!” Su Ziqiu greeted him happily.

As Fang Ye walked over, the other classmates gathered around him.

“Fang Ye, you’re amazing!”

“Seeing you back safe… it’s the best news!”

“Zheng Bing, what are you saying? Like some puny beasts could actually stop Fang Ye?”

“…Sorry, Fang Ye, I’m just really glad to see you.”

After exchanging greetings, Fang Ye said with a smile, “I’m fine. Let’s go inside so we don’t block the entrance.”

Inside, Zheng Bing leaned over to Fang Ye and whispered, “Fang Ye, that girl, the captain from Capital University, has asked about you a couple of times…”

“Oh?”

Slightly surprised, Fang Ye quickly dismissed any further thoughts about Zhao Ling’er and turned his focus to another question.

“Any word on the Wu Sheng Academy instructors?”

Zheng Bing, noticing Fang Ye’s interest in the instructors, said, “I’m not totally sure, but I heard that Wu Sheng Academy has already fired Wang Liang. The school probably wasn’t too happy about their early defeat and needed someone to take the blame.” Zheng Bing chuckled.

Fang Ye, however, furrowed his brows. If Wang Liang had stayed at the academy, Fang Ye could’ve gone there to find him. Now, with him dismissed, it would be harder to track him down.

Fang Ye decided to ask Mr. Yan about Wang Liang’s whereabouts once he returned.

That night, the news media were buzzing with reports of the beast invasion. The main headlines covered the brave teachers who had answered the military’s call to fend off the beasts, drawing widespread praise online.

Several media outlets also highlighted Fang Ye’s heroism, specifically his actions to lure the beast away and save countless lives.
