**Chapter 118: Fang Ye Completely Fooled the Protagonist!**

December 25, 2023.

Christmas had just passed, but there was no trace of the holiday spirit left in Macon City. Instead, the entire city was chaotic, with protests and looting happening everywhere.

For example, right in front of Fang Ye, a supermarket was being looted as a crowd poured inside, grabbing whatever they could.

Fang Ye ignored it and continued down the street. On another street, he saw a group holding signs as they marched, shouting their protests. The signs were filled with anti-government slogans, making the streets feel even more chaotic.

Knowing the storyline, Fang Ye understood the source of this unrest.

Months earlier, more and more people had protested against the government’s decision to have people from the present help those from the future fight a war that technically wasn’t theirs. After months of preparation, all efforts ended in failure just days ago. The future humans had been completely wiped out by monsters.

In the past year, countless resources had been spent, and so many lives sacrificed, yet nothing had changed. The result was unacceptable, sparking demonstrations and protests.

The plot of *The Tomorrow War* is actually quite straightforward.

On Christmas Eve of 2022, the protagonist, Dan Forester, was watching a soccer game with his family when suddenly, a time portal opened on the field, and soldiers from thirty years in the future appeared, calling for help. In their timeline, a terrifying monster known as Whitespikes had nearly eradicated humanity. The last remaining humans used time travel to seek assistance from people in the past.

Many soldiers and civilians enlisted to fight in the future, including Dan himself. During a mission, he met his grown daughter, Muri, now a scientist. Tragically, their mission failed, and Muri was devoured by a Whitespike.

Upon returning to the present, Dan was determined to change the future to save his daughter and all of humanity. Eventually, he discovered an alien spaceship buried under ice near the Arctic, where he and his team destroyed it, eradicating all the Whitespikes.

Fang Ye’s current point of arrival was right after Dan had returned from the future, traumatized by witnessing his daughter’s death at the hands of the monsters.

Next, Fang Ye planned to find Dan and accompany him to eliminate the Whitespikes.

Of course, he intended to ensure that the glory would be his alone. Once they located the Whitespikes, Fang Ye didn’t plan to let Dan interfere—he’d take them all out by himself.

“I remember that in the original plot, Dan was a high school teacher. There are three high schools in Macon City, so I’ll check each one.”

For days, Dan Forester had been acting strangely. Ever since returning from the future, he seemed distant, worrying his wife. At first, she thought he was suffering from post-traumatic stress, a common condition among soldiers. She tried to comfort him, but nothing worked.

Today, Dan couldn’t hold back any longer and decided to tell her the truth.

“Honey, there’s nothing wrong with me physically. I need to tell you something crazy… In the future, I saw our daughter, Muri!”

“She’s beautiful, smart, a scientist…” he said, choking up.

“Wait, you’re saying you met our daughter?” his wife asked, stunned.

Dan nodded tearfully. “We worked together to find a toxin that could kill the monsters. She succeeded… she found a toxin that could save humanity, but…” He trailed off, unable to continue.

His wife understood what had happened. Future humanity had failed, meaning their daughter also perished.

As the two sat in silence, comforting each other, there was a knock at the door.

“Who could that be?” Dan’s wife stood up. “I’ll get it.”

She opened the door to find a young, unfamiliar Chinese man standing there.

“Hello, ma’am,” Fang Ye greeted with a smile. “I’m Fang Ye. I need to speak with your husband.”

Hearing this, Dan gathered himself and went to the door.

“Do we know each other?” Dan asked, puzzled.

Fang Ye replied directly, “Mr. Dan Forester, this is our first meeting. I’ve been to the future and want to change humanity’s fate. I know where those monsters, the Whitespikes, are hiding. And I know you have the toxin that can kill them, so I hope you’ll work with me.”

“What?” Dan was instantly stunned.

“Change the future… change the future…” Dan’s eyes lit up. “I couldn’t save Muri, but I can prevent this from happening again!”

He turned to Fang Ye, eyes intense.

“Are you serious? You really know where those monsters are?” Dan asked, barely able to contain his excitement.

“Absolutely,” Fang Ye affirmed. “I wouldn’t lie about this.”

“Good!” Dan said without hesitation. “Let’s work together. We’ll destroy those monsters once and for all!”

They shook hands firmly, sealing their agreement.

Dan invited Fang Ye inside, and after serving them coffee, Dan’s wife joined them on the couch, listening intently.

“So, buddy, did you say your name was Fang?” Dan asked. “Mind if I call you that?”

“Of course not!” Fang Ye replied.

“Alright, Fang. Tell me, where are those damned creatures hiding?”

“They’re buried under glaciers northwest of the Arctic,” Fang Ye explained.

Dan was curious. “How do you know this?”

“I brought back a claw from the future. It had traces of volcanic ash on it, ash from an eruption a thousand years ago. This proves the Whitespikes didn’t come from outer space—they’ve been here on Earth all along. After some research, I found that the ash originates from…”

Fang Ye explained the exact methods Dan used in the original storyline to deduce the monsters’ location, capturing Dan’s full attention.

The more Dan listened, the more he realized Fang Ye’s deductions made sense.

“That’s why Muri told me the monsters appeared suddenly in 2048. Satellites detected no foreign object approaching Earth. It turns out they were frozen underground, only emerging once the glaciers melted!”

“It all makes sense!” Dan exclaimed, brimming with excitement.

“Thank you, Fang! Thank you for bringing me this news. Your deductions are spot-on,” Dan said, thrilled. “Next, we’ll need to find some allies…”
