**Chapter 145: Fang Ye vs. Mihawk**

“Mihawk has entered the fray?”

“The aloof Mihawk, stepping into battle himself—his strength must be terrifying.”

Kizaru stood up, his face reflecting his shock as he gazed at the battlefield.

On the battlefield, Mihawk’s sharp gaze was like a blade itself.

The dazzling light of his sword illuminated the faces of everyone nearby.

Fang Ye glanced back at where he had been standing just moments ago.

The ice was shattered, and a green sword light erupted like a volcanic explosion.

Recalling the sensation of danger from his instinctive reaction, Fang Ye broke out in a cold sweat.

If that strike had landed, he would have been severely injured.

“Quick reflexes.”

Mihawk’s cold voice broke the silence as he observed Fang Ye, who had narrowly dodged his attack unscathed.

Mihawk knew his initial strike had been a sneak attack.

Yet, the pirate before him had seemingly anticipated it, escaping unharmed.

“Observation Haki?”

Like others who had faced Fang Ye, Mihawk wondered if that was the secret.

“Let’s see if your reflexes can match the speed of my blade.”

Mihawk’s expression turned icy as he viewed Fang Ye as a moving target.

Gripping his black blade with both hands, Mihawk unleashed a powerful slash.

**Swish!**

A turquoise sword light tore through the air, its sharp energy slicing apart even the clouds above as it surged toward Fang Ye.

“What devastating power!”

Fang Ye’s eyes widened. Yet again, his instincts kicked in, allowing him to dodge the deadly strike.

A quick step, and Fang Ye evaded the attack.

“Another one!”

Mihawk growled as he unleashed another swing.

“This is too passive—I need to take control.” Fang Ye murmured to himself as he narrowly dodged yet another slash.

“I have to turn this fight around.”

With that thought, Fang Ye suddenly made his move.

He kicked off the ground, charging directly into the incoming sword light.

“Hmph, courting death.”

Mihawk watched Fang Ye’s reckless advance, thinking the man must have lost his mind.

As the world’s greatest swordsman, Mihawk wielded **Yoru**, a supreme-grade blade and the most powerful black sword in existence.

No one could face his sword head-on and live.

Seeing Fang Ye charge into his attack, Mihawk smirked disdainfully, his golden eyes narrowing.

But in the next moment, Mihawk adjusted his grip on **Yoru**, assuming a defensive stance.

The image of Fang Ye being cleaved in half didn’t materialize.

Instead, Fang Ye twisted his body mid-charge, narrowly sidestepping the attack with an agility that defied belief.

“What incredible body control!”

Mihawk’s gaze hardened.

The sheer speed of Fang Ye’s advance made such precise movements seem impossible, yet he had executed them flawlessly.

For the first time, Mihawk felt he had underestimated his opponent.

He tightened his grip on his sword, preparing to face the advancing Fang Ye.

“Whitebeard Pirates,” Mihawk addressed, habitually calling his opponent by their affiliation.

But Fang Ye, having withheld his name, left Mihawk no choice but to use the pirate crew’s title instead.

“Mihawk,” Fang Ye responded, narrowing his eyes as he locked onto his opponent.

He couldn’t deny the oppressive aura emanating from Mihawk’s golden, hawk-like eyes.

This was Mihawk’s unique ability, **Hawk Vision**, the essence of his supremacy as the world’s greatest swordsman.

Standing only a few paces apart, Fang Ye wasted no time.

“Serious Punch!”

Without further preamble, Fang Ye launched an all-out attack.

With a powerful stride, he closed the distance and threw a devastating punch at Mihawk.

Mihawk’s golden eyes contracted as he tracked Fang Ye’s movements.

Raising **Yoru**, he blocked the punch with the flat of his blade.

**Clang!**

The clash sent tremors through the sword.

Mihawk used the momentum of Fang Ye’s strike to create distance between them.

“Not so fast.”

Fang Ye grinned, instantly closing the gap again.

He wasn’t about to let Mihawk slip away after closing in.

Mihawk, recognizing Fang Ye’s persistence, shifted tactics.

This time, he swung **Yoru** with both hands in a fierce arc, aiming to force Fang Ye back.

Attack is the best defense.

**Swish!**

Once more, Fang Ye rolled to evade the slash, narrowly avoiding the deadly blade.

Behind him, the sword light carved deep trenches into the ice, sending shards flying.

“What incredible power… No wonder he’s the strongest Warlord.”

Fang Ye silently acknowledged Mihawk’s skill as he pressed forward again.

Despite Mihawk’s overwhelming offense, he had yet to land a hit on Fang Ye.

As Fang Ye approached once more, Mihawk’s expression turned serious.

Raising his blade, he delivered a simple yet deadly downward slash—devoid of flair, but brimming with lethal intent.

In that instant, Fang Ye’s heart raced. Without hesitation, he leapt back.

The black blade crashed into the ice with an earth-shattering impact.

**Crack!**

The ice split apart under the force of the blow.

Mihawk’s sharp eyes locked onto Fang Ye again, unleashing another slash.

Fang Ye deftly sidestepped, countering with a punch to the side of the blade, deflecting its trajectory.

“What strength…”

Mihawk’s hand tingled from the impact, though he kept a firm grip on his sword.

Faced with Fang Ye’s relentless offense, he was forced onto the defensive.

**Clang!**

Another metallic clash echoed as Fang Ye’s fists struck **Yoru**, sending vibrations up Mihawk’s arm.

For the first time, Mihawk felt genuine disbelief.

Throughout his life, Mihawk had faced countless foes, even clashing with Red-Haired Shanks himself.

Yet, no one had ever exerted such pressure on him.

“This isn’t a Devil Fruit ability… nor is it Haki.”

Mihawk’s keen eyes discerned that Fang Ye’s strength came from neither source.

“But this raw power…”

A possibility began to form in Mihawk’s mind.

“Are you… a giant?”

“Hah?”

Fang Ye nearly laughed at the absurdity of the question.

“Do I look like a giant to you?”

The two resumed their intense duel.

Mihawk soon found a way to counter Fang Ye’s brute strength.

Using the flexibility of **Yoru**, he absorbed and redirected Fang Ye’s punches, minimizing their impact.

Though their clash was titanic, neither gained a decisive advantage.

Mihawk’s precise slashes couldn’t touch Fang Ye, while Fang Ye’s powerful punches were deflected by Mihawk’s blade.

The battle reached a stalemate.

“Let me join in!”

A rough voice interrupted from behind.

It was **Flower Sword Vista**!

The captain of the 5th Division of the Whitebeard Pirates, Vista was a skilled dual-wielding swordsman with a distinctive handlebar mustache.

“This is the legendary world’s greatest swordsman! As a swordsman myself, how could I not want to face him?” Vista smiled confidently, stepping between Fang Ye and Mihawk.

“Jozu Vista, Whitebeard Pirates 5th Division Captain,” Mihawk acknowledged, readying his stance.

And as Fang Ye turned and quietly slipped away, Mihawk, unperturbed, prepared for his next duel.

“Dracule Mihawk,” he introduced himself, his black blade gleaming in anticipation.
