**Chapter 155: Akainu’s Despair and Final Explosion!**
Akainu stood battered and bruised, his body covered in dust and blood, an image of utter desperation.
Yet, even in such dire straits, he remained a Navy admiral, one of the fearsome three. Despite his injuries, the aura of a king radiated from him, unshaken by the peril he faced.
Standing tall, Akainu adjusted his tattered cap, his expression eerily calm as he faced Fang Ye and Marco. The frailty he had shown moments ago was gone, replaced by a chilling confidence.
“Admiral Akainu!”
Some Navy soldiers began moving toward him, but Akainu’s commanding voice stopped them.
“Stay back!” he ordered.
Before him were two formidable opponents: Marco, the First Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, whose position alone spoke of his strength, and Fang Ye, whose name Akainu didn’t know, but whose repeated interference had pushed him to the brink.
Akainu’s command was clear—he didn’t want unnecessary casualties.
“All Navy personnel, clear the area!”
With a roar, Akainu’s body began to transform, glowing with molten intensity.
This was his final gambit, a desperate attempt to take both opponents down with him. If he failed, death was inevitable.
Fang Ye’s sharp eyes locked onto Akainu from several meters away, sensing the immense energy building within him. He knew that meeting this attack head-on could result in mutual destruction.
“Marco, be cautious,” Fang Ye warned, his tone grim. “Whatever he’s preparing, it’s catastrophic.”
Marco nodded, flames igniting across his body as he transformed into his phoenix form—the strongest state he could achieve.
Meanwhile, Akainu’s body swelled unnaturally, the sheer heat causing the surrounding air to shimmer.
“Meteor Volcano!” Akainu roared, channeling his swollen magma into both fists and launching them skyward.
Each punch sent a massive molten projectile into the sky, raining fiery destruction down upon the battlefield. As he unleashed the last of his strength, Akainu collapsed to the ground, his fists bleeding profusely.
“Get out of the way!” Fang Ye shouted, leaping back with incredible speed.
Using his unparalleled danger sense, Fang Ye dodged the incoming barrage, his movements swift and precise.
Marco soared through the sky, weaving through the fiery onslaught with his speed and resilience. Though he lacked Fang Ye’s danger sense, his observation haki and regenerative abilities kept him from suffering fatal injuries.
**Boom!**
One by one, the meteors slammed into the ground, transforming the battlefield into a molten inferno. The already fragile Marineford was now a smoldering wasteland.
Fang Ye, unable to avoid every meteor, began punching them away.
“A monster… He’s a complete monster!”
The soldiers watching the scene were filled with dread as they saw Fang Ye smashing the massive projectiles apart.
“If only someone like that were on our side…”
“It’s because he’s not with the Navy that we’re in this situation!”
Despite the devastation, Fang Ye continued his relentless defense, shattering the meteors until the sky cleared.
Stepping toward the fallen Akainu, his expression cold, Fang Ye muttered, “It’s over.”
Akainu, lying in a pool of blood, gazed at him weakly.
“What… a monster,” Akainu whispered, his voice filled with a mix of admiration and bitterness.
“Justice… my justice…” he murmured, staring at his trembling hands. The promises of his unyielding justice seemed hollow now.
Fang Ye, unfazed by Akainu’s musings, prepared to deliver the final blow. But then, an overwhelming sense of danger washed over him.
**Danger sense!**
This was unlike anything Fang Ye had experienced before—a warning so intense it sent chills down his spine and made his hands tremble.
Without hesitation, he leaped backward, yelling: “Run!”
Marco, about to finish Akainu off, paused at Fang Ye’s shout.
Akainu’s body began to glow brighter, his cap catching fire and disintegrating along with his uniform.
“He’s going to self-destruct!” Fang Ye realized, his eyes wide with shock.
Akainu’s body swelled like an overinflated balloon, his molten form reaching its limit.
And then, with a deafening explosion, Akainu detonated like a massive bomb.
**Boom!!!**
Lava erupted in all directions, incinerating everything it touched. The ground melted, and the corpses of fallen soldiers and pirates were reduced to ash.
Fang Ye sprinted at full speed, narrowly escaping the blast radius.
Finally, he stopped to catch his breath, glancing back at the aftermath.
The explosion had left a massive crater, so deep it seemed to pierce the heart of Marineford.
Marco landed nearby, his chest heaving as he transformed back into his human form. The sheer magnitude of what had just happened left him shaken.
“If I hadn’t listened to you…” Marco muttered, wiping sweat from his brow. “I’d be dead right now.”
“He’s dead,” Fang Ye said, his voice emotionless as he stared at the destruction Akainu had wrought. “Completely and utterly dead.”
Marco nodded, his expression a mix of relief and sorrow. “He was willing to sacrifice his life just to take us down with him…”
Fang Ye placed a firm hand on Marco’s shoulder. “If you’re still alive, stop brooding and start fighting. There are still plenty of Navy scum left to kill.”
He pointed toward the remaining soldiers on the battlefield, adding, “And if we make it back to the ship, you’re buying me that drink.”
Marco chuckled weakly. “Deal.”
But before he could move, Fang Ye grabbed his shoulder and yanked him backward.
“You brats—die!!!” a voice roared.
