Chapter 167: The Chaos of Battle
“It must be because of those eyes!”
Shima suddenly broke her silence, her expression serious as she observed the three opponents.
“They all have the Rinnegan. Could it be that they’re sharing their vision through those eyes?” she speculated. Fang Ye, standing nearby, nodded subtly.
As expected of a well-versed sage toad—she deduced the truth so quickly.
This revelation reduced much of the mystery, but it also introduced a significant complication.
“This makes things… tricky,” Jiraiya muttered, frowning slightly.
Even though they had figured out some of their enemies’ capabilities, the lack of concrete knowledge about their abilities was still a major problem.
Without fully understanding their powers, even Sage Mode could fall short.
“Should we… retreat?” Fukasaku suggested cautiously, ever the most prudent among them.
“No need,” Shima countered, shaking her head. “There may be three of them, but there are four of us. That gives us the advantage.”
She glanced at Fang Ye, who stood calmly nearby.
Jiraiya followed her gaze and nodded. “I’ll try to keep two of them busy. You go after him,” he said, motioning toward the Animal Path standing on the high ground.
Jiraiya’s plan was to keep the three enemies occupied, forcing them to divide their focus. Even with their shared vision, splitting their attention would greatly limit their effectiveness.
“Understood.” Fang Ye agreed with the plan.
In the next moment, the two launched their assault!
Fang Ye shot forward like a cannonball, heading straight for the Animal Path.
“Serious Punch!”
Wasting no time, Fang Ye unleashed one of his strongest attacks. With his right fist charged and ready, he delivered a devastating blow, aiming directly at the Animal Path.
“Summoning Jutsu!”
The Animal Path quickly clasped his hands together, summoning a stone panda in front of him. It was the same technique that had successfully blocked Jiraiya’s Hair Needle Barrage earlier.
“Child’s play!” Fang Ye scoffed, his punch not slowing down for a moment.
Boom!
The force of his fist collided with the stone panda, creating a deafening explosion. Cracks spread across the panda’s surface, and in the next second, it shattered into countless fragments that scattered in all directions.
The Animal Path didn’t flinch, jumping backward to create more distance.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Fang Ye lunged again, his speed unmatched, quickly closing the gap. His right fist pulled back, building momentum for another punch.
“Feel the pain,” the Animal Path murmured emotionlessly, as if delivering a divine decree.
From within his sleeve, he launched a black rod, sharp and deadly, straight at Fang Ye.
Fang Ye’s eyes narrowed. He recognized the rod instantly—it was the same type that had pinned Naruto in the original storyline, rendering him immobile.
Without hesitation, Fang Ye activated his Armament Haki, crossing his arms in front of him to block the incoming rod.
Clang!
The rod struck Fang Ye’s Haki-coated arms with a sharp, metallic sound. He felt a sting from the impact, evidence of its formidable power, but his defense held strong.
The tip of the rod fractured slightly, leaving behind black debris.
The Animal Path retracted the rod, examining its dulled tip with a rare flicker of surprise. “Such strong defense,” he muttered, his caution growing.
From afar, the Preta Path and Human Path were locked in combat with Jiraiya and his toads, unable to gain the upper hand.
“I need to take one of them out,” the Animal Path whispered. He darted toward Jiraiya, intending to turn the tide.
“Did I say you could leave?”
Fang Ye intercepted him, unleashing another Serious Punch! This time, he put everything he had into the blow, aiming for a decisive strike.
The Animal Path’s eyes widened, his hands crossing to block with his black rods. He had anticipated Fang Ye’s move.
Fang Ye’s fist, cloaked in Haki, collided with the rods, creating a thunderous explosion.
Crack!
The sound of fracturing echoed through the air as the rods began to splinter under the pressure of Fang Ye’s punch.
“Break!” Fang Ye roared, channeling even more strength into his fist.
Crack!
The black rods shattered completely, unable to withstand the overwhelming force.
The remnants of Fang Ye’s punch, though diminished, still struck the Animal Path.
Boom!
The Animal Path was sent flying, crashing through multiple walls before finally coming to a stop.
“Something’s wrong!” The Human Path, sensing danger, disengaged from his fight with Jiraiya and rushed to assist the Animal Path.
“Not so fast!” Jiraiya shouted, slamming his hands to the ground.
“Sage Art: Hair Needle Barrage!”
Countless chakra-infused hair needles shot toward the Human Path, aiming to pin him down.
The Preta Path moved to shield his ally, activating his chakra-absorption field. In an instant, the needles lost their chakra and fell harmlessly to the ground.
But Jiraiya had anticipated this.
Springing forward like a frog, he leaped into the air and descended upon the Human Path with a powerful kick.
Boom!
The Human Path was smashed into the ground, leaving a crater in his wake.
“You’re not leaving this area without my permission,” Jiraiya declared, his sage-enhanced power radiating as he dominated the battlefield like a god of war.
