Chapter 168: Pain Appears, Almighty Push!
The Animal Path stood up from the rubble.
Seeing his two comrades occupied by Jiraiya and himself at a disadvantage against Fang Ye, he made a quick decision. Clasping his hands together, he slammed them onto the ground.
Bang!
With a puff of smoke, the two companions tangled with Jiraiya suddenly vanished.
“What?!” Jiraiya exclaimed, scanning the area, unable to locate the missing foes.
“They’ve disappeared!” Fukasaku echoed in disbelief. Their team was once again on the defensive.
“Over there,” Shima interjected, pointing toward where Fang Ye stood.
“They’ve gone over there… What? That young man has pushed Nagato this far?” Fukasaku gasped. He hadn’t expected that the quiet, unassuming Fang Ye possessed such overwhelming power.
The Animal Path—whom they believed to be Nagato—was so cornered by Fang Ye that he summoned reinforcements to avoid a mortal blow.
On the other side, Fang Ye was preparing to deliver the final strike to the Animal Path.
Suddenly, two figures materialized behind him, joining the fight.
“All together now?” Fang Ye muttered, unfazed by the sight of three opponents.
The trio moved in unison, launching a coordinated assault to overwhelm Fang Ye.
Armament Haki!
Without hesitation, Fang Ye enveloped his entire body in Haki.
Facing three synchronized enemies was no small challenge. Any injury could leave him vulnerable to a barrage of attacks from the others.
The Human Path struck first, extending his hand toward Fang Ye’s head.
“Child’s play!” Fang Ye growled, meeting the hand with a powerful punch.
“Summoning Jutsu!”
The Animal Path wasn’t idle. Pressing his hands to the ground, he summoned a massive rhinoceros that charged at Fang Ye with its horn aimed to impale him.
Boom!
Fang Ye’s fist collided with the rhino’s horn, producing a thunderous impact.
Crack, crack, crack…
The sound of shattering echoed as the rhino’s horn fractured under the immense force.
Boom!
The rhino’s body, unable to withstand the residual power of Fang Ye’s punch, exploded into a rain of blood and gore.
Fang Ye calmly retracted his fist, unshaken by the carnage.
Suddenly, his instincts flared. Blood rained around him as the Human Path emerged from the crimson mist, its hand reaching for Fang Ye’s head.
Fang Ye dodged just in time, causing the hand to land on his shoulder instead.
The Human Path’s ability to extract souls required contact with the opponent’s head. Missing the mark rendered the technique useless.
Fang Ye seized the opportunity, his right fist lashing out with devastating force.
Boom!
The punch struck the Human Path’s shoulder, obliterating half of its body. With only half a torso remaining, the Human Path collapsed, its lone leg unable to support it.
“Kid, I’m here to help!” Jiraiya appeared beside Fang Ye, unleashing a Sage Art.
“Sage Art: Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan!”
A massive, glowing blue chakra sphere formed in his palm and surged toward the Preta Path.
Predictably, the Preta Path absorbed the attack entirely. It then retreated, wary of Fang Ye’s lethal punches.
Fang Ye wasted no time. Seeing the fallen Human Path, he stomped down mercilessly on its remaining head.
Crack!
The skull shattered under his foot, spraying a mixture of blood, brain matter, and mechanical components across the ground.
The Human Path was dead.
“Incredible,” Jiraiya said, giving Fang Ye a thumbs-up.
“Just lucky,” Fang Ye replied modestly. His eyes narrowed as he turned toward the remaining two foes. “Jiraiya-sensei, two left. One each?”
His tone was light, as though their victory was assured.
“Fine, I’ll take this one,” Jiraiya said, gesturing toward the Animal Path, whom they mistook for Nagato.
“Then I’ll handle this one,” Fang Ye said, looking at the Preta Path.
“You two underestimate a god,” the Animal Path spoke coldly, his tone emotionless.
The tension escalated as another figure descended into the midst of the four combatants.
“Yahiko!”
Jiraiya immediately recognized the newcomer, clad in an Akatsuki robe. The young man before them was none other than Yahiko, Nagato and Konan’s former teammate and Jiraiya’s own student.
“Yahiko, Nagato said you were dead,” Jiraiya said, his tone neutral as he confronted the figure.
“I am dead,” Yahiko said icily. “I’ve felt pain that none of you can imagine. That pain made me a god.”
Jiraiya shook his head, his expression unreadable. “You’ve joined the Akatsuki?”
Yahiko’s Akatsuki robe and the presence of the others left no doubt.
“Or… are you the legendary Pain?”
“I am, and I’m not,” Yahiko said cryptically. “I am Pain, and so are they.”
He gestured to the Animal Path, the Preta Path, and the remains of the Human Path.
Jiraiya’s confusion deepened. “I don’t understand.”
“I am no longer Yahiko. You may call me… Tendo (Deva Path),” Yahiko declared, introducing the other paths—Animal, Preta, and the deceased Human Path.
“Jiraiya-sensei,” Yahiko continued, his voice chilling. “You don’t need to understand. Soon, you’ll be nothing more than a corpse.”
He turned his gaze to Fang Ye. “As for you, I’ll grant you the honor of a complete corpse.”
“Arrogant fool,” Fang Ye scoffed, glaring at the self-proclaimed god. “Do you think your arrival changes anything?”
Jiraiya agreed. “You think you can take on the two of us? Yahiko, you’ve overestimated yourself.”
“Perhaps once I couldn’t. But now… I am Tendo.”
Yahiko’s body lifted into the air. Extending his left hand, he fixed his gaze on Jiraiya and Fang Ye, his voice heavy with finality.
“Feel pain. Contemplate pain. Accept pain. Understand pain. Those who do not understand pain cannot understand true peace. I will never forget Yahiko’s pain…”
His voice softened before rising to a thunderous crescendo, like the judgment of a god.
“From now on, the world shall know pain! Almighty Push!”
