Chapter 170: Jiraiya’s Hesitation
Facing Pain’s relentless attack, Fang Ye remained calm and composed.
As he entered the range of Pain’s assault, he struck decisively.
Fang Ye’s hands, enveloped in Armament Haki, were as hard as steel.
He reached out with his left hand, seizing the black metal rod extending from Pain’s palm. At the same time, his right fist shot forward with incredible force.
Boom!
This punch was delivered with full strength, aiming directly at the Deva Path. Fang Ye hoped to eliminate him here and now, swiftly completing his mission.
However, things didn’t go as planned.
A figure dashed out from the side, wielding another black rod aimed at Fang Ye’s unprotected waist. Fang Ye quickly dodged, diverting his punch. It narrowly missed the Deva Path’s head but left enough force to mess up his hair.
“Playing dirty?” Fang Ye muttered, recognizing the attacker as the Animal Path. He wasted no time, shifting his focus to the Human Path instead.
“Serious Punch!” Fang Ye pulled his fist to his waist, charging for another strike.
But just as he prepared to attack, another figure lunged at him.
“I was waiting for this!” Fang Ye growled, turning mid-movement. It was the Deva Path again, moving with remarkable speed.
Realizing his attack would fail, the Deva Path quickly crossed two black rods in front of him to block Fang Ye’s punch.
Boom!
The collision of Fang Ye’s massive fist and the black rods created a deafening sound. The sheer force of Fang Ye’s punch sent shockwaves through the Deva Path’s body.
“Ugh!”
The Deva Path felt as though his internal organs had been struck with a hammer, trembling painfully from the impact.
Fang Ye’s energy coursed through the Deva Path, slamming into the wall behind him and leaving a shallow imprint on the load-bearing wall of the narrow alley.
The Deva Path spat a mouthful of blood and fell from the air. His internal organs were shattered, and his Rinnegan dimmed. Clinging to life by a thread, he seemed moments from death.
“Summoning Jutsu!”
Seeing their leader gravely injured, the Animal Path acted swiftly, summoning two more reinforcements—Asura Path and Naraka Path.
The Naraka Path immediately pressed his hand to the ground, summoning a massive head with Rinnegan eyes: the terrifying King of Hell.
Fang Ye, recognizing its function, narrowed his eyes. The King of Hell was the Naraka Path’s summoning beast, essential to its powers.
The King of Hell opened its gaping mouth, its bifurcated purple tongue snaking out. One side wrapped around the Deva Path’s broken body and pulled it in. The other did the same with the shattered remains of the Human Path.
“What’s happening? Are they killing their own?” Jiraiya watched in shock, his mind racing with speculation.
“Are they devouring their allies to grow stronger?” he wondered aloud.
“That seems unlikely,” Fukasaku said, shaking his head.
“If that were the case, it would be a pretty flawed ability,” Shima agreed. “It’d only work if their teammates died, making it too situational.”
“Whatever it is, I’ll destroy it with one punch!” Fang Ye declared, picking up a stone and hurling it at the King of Hell’s massive face.
Crack!
The Animal Path intercepted the stone, glaring coldly at Fang Ye. The enemy still seemed to be stalling, as though waiting for the King of Hell to finish its work.
Jiraiya launched another ninjutsu attack, but, as before, the Preta Path absorbed it effortlessly.
Moments later, the King of Hell finished its task, spitting out the fully restored bodies of the Deva Path and Human Path. Even the Human Path’s destroyed limbs and head were regenerated.
Six Paths of Pain stood together once more, glaring menacingly at their opponents.
“They’ve come back to life?” Jiraiya gasped, struggling to believe what he was seeing.
“It appears so,” Fang Ye confirmed, his gaze steady.
Suddenly, the Asura Path moved, its body morphing as it floated into the air. Flames erupted from its feet, and blades emerged from its body. Like a missile, it rocketed toward Jiraiya.
“I’m here too!” Fang Ye shouted, his speed exploding as he intercepted the Asura Path. Appearing above it, he delivered a powerful kick.
Boom!
Fang Ye’s foot smashed into the Asura Path, sending mechanical parts flying. A massive hole was left in its body.
“Gah…” The Asura Path collapsed, one hand twitching weakly. Suddenly, its right arm transformed into a missile, which launched directly at Fang Ye.
“Useless,” Fang Ye muttered, his Haki-clad hand slapping the missile aside. It flew back toward the Asura Path.
Boom!
The missile exploded on impact, destroying what remained of the Asura Path. It was beyond repair.
The remaining Pain paths didn’t hesitate, rushing at Fang Ye all at once.
“Cut off their shared vision, or the kid’s done for!” Fukasaku yelled, spitting a water blade at the Preta Path, only for it to be absorbed.
“Got it!” Shima leaped into the air, exhaling a dense smoke that blanketed the battlefield.
“Sage Art: Wind Style Sandstorm!” she cried. Instantly, the Six Paths’ shared vision was disrupted, separating them in the swirling sands.
“Thanks, Shima-sama!” Fang Ye cheered, his figure vanishing into the storm. He began searching for targets, the sand rising around him.
“Found one!” Fang Ye spotted an orange-haired man ahead and charged without hesitation.
Boom!
His punch landed, shattering the man’s arm. With no interference, Fang Ye felt liberated, delivering blow after blow.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The storm echoed with explosions as Fang Ye unleashed his fury.
“That kid… has he gone berserk?” Jiraiya watched the chaos from a distance, hesitant to enter.
“If he mistakes me for an enemy…” Jiraiya shuddered at the thought. “That’d be a disaster!”
