Chapter 189: Saiyans vs. the Strongest Human!
After handling all the matters at hand, Goku led Gohan and Fang Ye to search for Krillin.
“Goku, by the way, has Uncle Krillin been training lately?” Gohan asked, his expression a bit conflicted.
It wasn’t that he doubted Krillin’s abilities suddenly, but rather, he’d always believed in Krillin… from the very start!
Even if Krillin had been training, his strength would barely be enough to spar with people like Tian Shinhan or Master Roshi.
The last Tenkaichi Budokai was fine, but the Power Tournament… Gohan wasn’t optimistic.
Upon hearing Gohan’s continuous questioning, Goku started to hesitate as well.
Goku himself wasn’t sure.
After all, Krillin’s life after marriage had been pretty blissful.
He married a beautiful wife, recently had a little daughter, and at work, he was well-liked and content.
In every way, he seemed to be the epitome of a “life winner.”
As Goku hesitated whether to call Krillin, Fang Ye spoke up. “Krillin… his role is much more important than you think.”
“Uncle Krillin… important?” Gohan blinked, unsure of what Fang Ye was trying to imply.
But Fang Ye only said two things before leaving it at that.
He couldn’t exactly say, “Once Krillin dies, Goku’s power will explode to unimaginable levels,” could he?
Still, with Fang Ye’s confirmation, Goku couldn’t help but smile. “See? I told you!”
“…Alright,” Gohan sighed. After all, this was about the fate of an entire universe, and Gohan just didn’t want anything unexpected to happen.
Not long after, the three of them arrived at a small house.
“Goku?” A blonde woman was standing in the yard, hands on her hips, as if she had sensed their arrival.
“18!” Goku called out cheerfully, and Gohan waved as well.
“Aunt 18,” Gohan said politely.
“Call me ‘sister’,” 18 said, giving Gohan a bemused look as she shook her fist. Was she really that old?
Her daughter and Gohan were around the same age, so was it really necessary for him to call her “Aunt”?
She shot them a tired look, then asked, “What are you guys here for?”
“We’re here to find Krillin,” Goku said directly, not beating around the bush.
“Krillin? He’s inside. What do you need him for?” 18 asked curiously, still skeptical about what Goku could be up to.
“It’s a man’s secret,” Goku said mysteriously, the kind of line he probably picked up from Satan.
“Ugh… fine, come on in,” 18 said with a shrug, stepping aside, but her gaze stayed fixed on Fang Ye.
“Thanks!” Goku didn’t notice her attention and led Gohan inside, leaving Fang Ye a bit uncomfortable under 18’s stare.
Having watched Dragon Ball, Fang Ye knew exactly who 18 was—an android, originally a villain, who had been saved by Krillin and later married him.
But now 18 had reformed, and Fang Ye wasn’t worried about her attacking him. Even if she did, she likely wouldn’t be his match.
He met her gaze, slightly confused. “Is something wrong?”
18 shook her head and took a step back.
“Please, go ahead.”
“Thanks,” Fang Ye nodded, following the others inside.
As soon as they entered, they saw Krillin holding his little daughter, showing her off to Goku and Gohan.
“She’s so cute!” Goku couldn’t help but tease Krillin’s daughter.
“Let me take her. You’ve got something to say, right? It’s getting late, and she should be going to sleep soon,” 18 said, grabbing the baby from Krillin’s arms and heading upstairs with her.
“Ah…” Krillin looked awkward, but quickly recovered.
“What’s up? What do you need me for?” Krillin asked.
“Well, there’s going to be a battle between universes soon, and we want to invite you to join us as a representative of Universe 7.”
“A battle? I’m not going!” Krillin immediately rejected the offer, shaking his head.
“Why not?” Goku asked.
Krillin looked at him seriously. “The traffic department is selecting a new captain in the next few days. Although I’m well-liked around here, if I leave now, there’s no way I’ll get the captaincy.”
“That…” Goku scratched his head. This was actually a pretty solid reason!
“If we win, there’s a prize of ten million zeni,” Fang Ye added, throwing in a tempting offer.
“T-Ten… million?!”
Krillin’s eyes widened, and he kept checking to make sure he hadn’t misheard.
Ten million… that was more than he’d probably make in a lifetime!
“That’s right,” Fang Ye nodded. “And it’s ten million per person!”
Gohan, seeing Krillin’s shock, suddenly understood. So it wasn’t that Krillin didn’t want to go—it was just that the offer wasn’t high enough!
But then again, Krillin now had a family to consider. It made sense that he’d want to be sure about what he was getting into.
“Alright… I’ll go discuss it with 18.”
Krillin quickly ran upstairs, his excitement clear.
A short while later, 18 came down with Krillin following behind her.
“Want Krillin to join the tournament? Fine… I heard there’s ten million zeni in it for each person?”
“That’s right,” Goku confirmed, nodding.
“Not talking to you, I’m asking the young man,” 18 said, gesturing toward Fang Ye with a dismissive wave.
“Yes, it’s ten million per person,” Fang Ye confirmed again.
“Alright, then I have one condition,” 18 said, turning her attention to Fang Ye.
Fang Ye motioned for her to speak. “Go ahead.”
“I want to join too.”
“What?!” Gohan gasped, spitting out his tea in shock.
He turned to Goku, unsure how to respond.
“Great!” Goku said, ecstatic.
That solved two problems at once.
Plus, 18 was an android. Even without training, her power wouldn’t diminish, and with unlimited energy, she was a serious powerhouse. Talk about a game-changer!
“Wait…” Gohan suddenly stood up, his face serious as he turned to Krillin. “Uncle Krillin, I want to spar with you!”
Krillin blinked in confusion.
“Me? Now?” he asked, surprised.
“Right now!” Gohan said, his tone firm and unwavering.
“It seems Gohan doesn’t quite believe in my strength… alright, let’s do this,” Krillin said with a smile, putting on his training uniform, one he hadn’t worn in a long time.
The group made their way to a battlefield by the sea, knowing their combined powers could easily destroy their small house. If they wrecked it, Krillin and 18 would be left with nowhere to live.
Once at the battlefield, Krillin began stretching and preparing. He then took his fighting stance.
“Gohan, come on. Let me see how much stronger you’ve gotten lately.”
Krillin looked serious, and Gohan didn’t hold back, immediately powering up into his strongest state.
Gohan could no longer transform into a Super Saiyan.
Instead, he radiated a strange, terrifying aura, one even more fearsome than before.
…
