Chapter 21: Invading the Hive!
Alice.
As the chosen one in the *Resident Evil* world.
The absolute protagonist!
She had always seen it as her duty to save the world.
Fang Ye knew that as long as he mentioned information about the antidote, it would undoubtedly catch Alice’s attention.
Sure enough!
The moment Fang Ye finished speaking, Alice was visibly moved.
“Where did you get this information?” Alice asked seriously.
Even the mercenary Carlos, standing beside her, suddenly became more focused.
Fang Ye smiled slightly and said, “I’ve been tracking Umbrella Corporation for some time. After finally destroying one of their divisions, I obtained this intel.”
Alice thought for a moment before asking, “Is it reliable?”
“Raccoon City is not far from here. It won’t take long to check it out. Whether it’s true or not, we’ll know once we’re there,” Fang Ye replied.
Hearing this, Alice nodded in agreement.
She glanced at Carlos beside her and whispered, “Carlos, what do you think?”
Carlos shrugged and said, “You decide. I’ll follow your lead.”
Alice pondered for a moment, then looked firmly at Fang Ye and said seriously, “Alright, we’ll go with you. But I hope everything you’ve said is true.”
Fang Ye smiled faintly in response.
This outcome.
Didn’t surprise him at all.
If Alice remained indifferent to the mention of a potential antidote, that would have been truly strange.
…
With the plan settled, the convoy turned around and set off.
Fang Ye successfully boarded the bus, sitting next to Carlos.
Alice took a seat behind them.
“We’re currently near California. From here to Raccoon City is about 140 kilometers, so we’ll be there in two hours. You can take a nap if you’d like, man,” Carlos said.
Of course, Fang Ye wasn’t about to fall asleep in someone else’s vehicle.
That would be the same as handing his life over to them.
“Thanks, but I’m not tired yet.”
Carlos didn’t mind and said, “So, why don’t you tell me a bit about your background?”
The fact that Carlos asked this question clearly showed he didn’t trust Fang Ye.
Which was perfectly reasonable.
After all, they had just met.
Fang Ye smiled slightly and began weaving the lie he had prepared in advance: “I’m from the East. My life used to be happy, but when the T-virus appeared, it turned everyone into monsters, leaving only a few survivors. After that, I started investigating the origins of the virus…”
He spoke half-truths, leveraging his knowledge of the storyline, revealing just enough to leave Carlos and Alice bewildered.
Even they couldn’t tell if Fang Ye was telling the truth or lying.
Two hours passed quickly.
The bus finally came to a stop.
The driver, a Black man, turned around and said, “We’ve reached Raccoon City. Should we keep going?”
Alice stood up, glanced out the window, and replied, “No, you all stay here and wait for me.”
Then she turned to Fang Ye and said firmly, “I’ll go with you. I know where the Hive is.”
Fang Ye was more than happy with Alice’s decision!
He immediately nodded in agreement.
Seeing this, Carlos, concerned about Alice going alone with Fang Ye, also stood up. “Count me in!”
Fang Ye had no objections.
After all, the more “pawns” he had, the better.
So.
The three of them set off together, getting off the bus.
“Is this Raccoon City?”
Stepping out of the bus, Fang Ye looked around the city in shock.
No!
Calling it a city was no longer accurate.
It was more like a wasteland.
In the center of the city was a massive crater, over a kilometer in diameter, with all the surrounding buildings leveled to the ground.
It was utterly desolate!
There was no need to guess—this crater was clearly created by the nuclear explosion.
If it weren’t for a few remaining buildings on the outskirts, no one would have known that this was once a bustling metropolis.
“It’s here.”
Alice’s voice was filled with complex emotions.
Carlos added, “Though it’s been over a year, there’s still harmful radiation lingering here. Let’s not stay longer than necessary.”
Hearing this, Alice glanced toward a specific location and pointed at a damaged building on the edge of the crater. “The Hive’s entrance is in the basement of that building.”
The three of them quickly made their way toward the Hive’s entrance.
…
Meanwhile.
Deep inside the Hive.
Albert Wesker stood in front of a surveillance monitor.
On the screen were images of Fang Ye, Alice, and Carlos approaching.
As Umbrella Corporation’s stronghold, the Hive was heavily fortified.
The moment Alice, Fang Ye, and Carlos neared the Hive, they were captured by hidden surveillance cameras…
Watching the trio cautiously move closer, Wesker’s expression remained calm as he pressed a red button beside him.
Suddenly.
Deep within the Hive, several iron cages opened, releasing unknown creatures from within.
