OKSTS Chapter 46

Chapter 46: The Fury of the Prodigies!

In Renjia Town, several young people were sitting around a table in the only café in town, chatting.

“…Guess who I ran into when I first got here?”

“Who?”

“That chick from Wusheng Academy! I tried to follow her to see where she was staying, but she was pretty sharp. She spotted me and slipped away into the crowd.”

“Damn! You lost her and still have the nerve to tell us? You’ve just blown our cover!”

“What’s the big deal? They’re probably doing the simple mission and staying in town anyway. We’ll run into them sooner or later.”

“By the way, why isn’t Zhao Fusheng here yet?”

“Yeah! Boss Lu, what’s up with Zhao Fusheng? Why’s he making us wait?”

“I’ll admit he’s good, but it’s a bit much to keep us all waiting for him, right?”

The group murmured among themselves.

Lu Feng frowned.

Meeting at the café was Zhao Fusheng’s idea, yet everyone else had shown up on time, while he was still missing. What was his deal?

Just as dissatisfaction began to grow, a tall, nearly two-meter man entered the café.

In this era, people generally weren’t very tall due to various factors. At two meters, this man was like a giant, towering above everyone.

More than just his height, his physique was equally impressive—muscles bulged like granite, giving him an overwhelming presence.

As soon as the group saw him, their complaints about Zhao Fusheng stopped instantly.

The giant was none other than Zhao Fusheng himself!

“Over here, Zhao!” Meng Shu called out, waving.

Zhao Fusheng made his way over, but he didn’t bother explaining why he was late.

In his mind, there was no need to explain his actions to anyone.

“Everyone’s here? Let’s get down to planning,” Zhao Fusheng said.

Though the others felt some resentment, none of them dared to voice it.

Lu Feng frowned but chose to stay silent. He’d already decided that after this mission, he would no longer work with Zhao Fusheng. Lu Feng was proud, and Zhao’s behavior had irritated him.

Just then, the street outside erupted with noise, as if something had happened.

Since they were on the second floor near a window, the group immediately moved to see what was going on outside.

On the street, they saw a group of security officers marching out of town.

Leading them was Ah Wei, the captain of the security force and cousin of Ren Tingting!

“Move aside, make way! Don’t block the road!” Ah Wei shouted as he marched. “There’s been a corpse theft at the mortuary! Anyone who provides information will be rewarded ten silver dollars! Capture the thief, and you’ll get one hundred silver dollars!”

Hearing this, the townspeople were astonished.

“A corpse theft? Who would be so twisted as to steal a body?”

“What would they even do with it? People are so bizarre these days!”

“One hundred silver dollars? If I catch the thief, I’ll be rich!”

Meanwhile, the group in the café looked at each other with shock.

A corpse theft at this critical time? Something wasn’t right.

It was highly likely that they had a “competitor” in town!

“Could it be a coincidence?” one of them speculated.

“Coincidence? It didn’t happen earlier or later—it just happened now? No way, we’ve definitely got competition,” someone quickly refuted.

As the others discussed, Lu Feng also frowned.

He turned his gaze toward Zhao Fusheng. “Zhao, what do you think?”

Zhao Fusheng remained calm, showing no signs of panic. “Let’s go to the mortuary and take a look.”

“Agreed.”

The group wasted no time and set off for the mortuary.

Half an hour later, Master Ren arrived at the mortuary in a hurry.

After all, the missing corpse was that of his esteemed ancestor. Even if he was just putting on a show, he still had to come and check.

In truth, Master Ren was genuinely concerned—not out of filial piety, but because Master Ren’s corpse was linked to the Ren family’s feng shui. This wasn’t something to be taken lightly.

“Ninth Uncle! How could my father’s body be stolen from here?” Master Ren asked anxiously.

Uncle Nine’s expression was a bit awkward.

Since the corpse was lost from his mortuary, as its caretaker, the responsibility fell on him.

“Master Ren, your father’s body was on the verge of turning into a zombie. I suspect the thief intends to raise it as one.”

“What? What should we do?” Master Ren panicked. “Can we get the body back?”

Uncle Nine thought for a moment and then firmly replied, “Don’t worry, Master Ren. I’ll make sure we recover your father’s body!”

As they spoke, someone lurking outside the mortuary overheard their conversation.

A short while later, this figure retreated into the nearby woods beside the mortuary.

“I’ve confirmed it. The stolen body is indeed Master Ren’s. To be precise, the body wasn’t stolen—it was taken by force!”

Hearing this report, Lu Feng and the others were visibly shaken.

Even Zhao Fusheng’s eyes flickered with a cold gleam.

“Someone’s using the same plan as us? Who could it be?” Meng Shu asked, unable to hide her curiosity.

“Could it be Shen Fei?” someone suggested.

Shen Fei was another prodigy from Wushen Academy, one of the strongest among the freshmen, with a reputation similar to Lu Feng and Zhao Fusheng.

Lu Feng shook his head. “It’s not Shen Fei. He chose the simpler mission this time.”

“I don’t care who it is. They’ll pay for interfering with our plan!” Zhao Fusheng said coldly.

Upon hearing this, the others cursed silently: *If you hadn’t shown up late, how would anyone have had the chance to beat us to the punch? Now you’re acting all serious?*

Lu Feng gave Zhao Fusheng a brief glance and said calmly, “Right now, the priority is finding out where Master Ren’s body went. Let’s split up and investigate. Once anyone finds a lead, leave a mark to notify the rest.”

No one objected, and the group quickly dispersed to begin their search.
