OKSTS Chapter 78

**Chapter 78: Destroy the Enemy’s Crystal!**

*Valley of Kings?*

*Our Crystal?*

Why did this sound so familiar?

As Yan Tai continued explaining, Fang Ye’s mind automatically conjured images of a popular competitive game…

He never would have expected that the National Freshman Competition venue would be a place like this!

At that moment—

Yan Tai took out a large map and laid it out in front of the students.

“This is the map of the Valley of Kings. Take a good look!”

The students immediately leaned in to study it.

When Fang Ye saw the map—

his suspicions were confirmed.

*It really is the same map from that game! Exactly identical… So this so-called competition is basically a 5v5 battle arena.*

Fang Ye chuckled to himself.

With his abilities, winning the National Freshman Competition should be a breeze.

If it came down to direct combat, every freshman would be like a child facing him!

And now—

he was even more confident.

In the Valley of Kings, no one could be more familiar with this game than him.

In his previous life, he’d spent countless nights playing to rank up.

He had even worn out several phones from playing so much!

His highest rank had been Glory King, with dozens of stars.

Not a top-tier pro, perhaps, but he had ranked on the national leaderboard.

“I’ll first introduce the basic rules…”

Pointing to the three lanes on the map, Yan Tai explained to Fang Ye and the others, “You see these three lanes? Each lane ultimately leads to the opposing team’s crystal. Along each lane, there are three energy towers.”

“At the start of the match, our primary goal will be to destroy the enemy’s energy towers on each lane to reach their crystal!”

“Be careful—each tower has a guard radius of about 50 meters. When an enemy enters this radius, the tower automatically attacks.”

“Remember, the tower’s attacks deal high damage, have automatic targeting, and cannot be dodged. You won’t survive more than a few hits!”

“The best way to destroy an energy tower is to wait until our robotic minions enter the tower’s guard range… Then the tower will focus on attacking the minions, giving you a chance to attack it!”

“Similarly, if you see the enemy’s minions approaching, eliminate them quickly to prevent them from taking down our towers!” Su Ziqiu was listening intently.

At this point, she noticed a potential loophole and raised her hand. Yan Tai noticed and asked, “Su Ziqiu, what’s your question?”

“Teacher!” Su Ziqiu pointed at one of the energy towers on the map. “What if someone attacks the tower from outside its guard range? Wouldn’t that damage it?”

“For example, I’m confident I can hit targets from as far as 200 meters.”

Su Ziqiu was being modest.

In reality, with her current strength, she could hit a target from as far as a thousand meters!

Yan Tai smiled, “That’s a great thought, Su Ziqiu. But, of course, that kind of loophole doesn’t exist.”

“When the tower isn’t actively attacking, it enters a self-protection state, covered by a shield of defensive energy. While it’s in this state, your attacks won’t have any effect!”

“The tower’s shield only drops when it starts attacking the minions.”

Everyone nodded in understanding.

“Any other questions?” Silence.

Yan Tai continued, “Also, pay attention to the minions. Although they’re mindless creatures following a set path, if you get too close, they’ll fight back.”

“However, their attacks are slow and weak, so as long as you don’t just stand there, you should be able to avoid getting hit.”

“All three lanes will have minions, so each lane needs someone to defend it…”

“There are also a few monsters scattered around the valley. Defeating them grants special boosts like increased speed or attack power. But two monsters are especially powerful: the Dark Tyrant and the Shadow Dominator. They provide stronger buffs and are best tackled with teamwork. Trying to fight them alone is risky.”

“In the Valley of Kings, be brave—don’t worry about dying!”

“Even if you die, you won’t really die. You’ll be revived at the energy crystal…”

“Of course, try not to die if you can help it. Each death increases your respawn time, which could allow the enemy to take down our towers. That would be a disaster.”

“My suggestion is to choose one lane to focus your attacks…”

“There will be communication devices during the match, so keep in touch. If you’re in danger, call for backup!”

“If you encounter a team of equal strength, consider defeating monsters to gain buffs before launching a full team attack. If you can wipe out the enemy team in one push, you’ll have a clear path to their base!”

“The only victory condition is this: destroy the enemy’s crystal…”

Yan Tai went on explaining the rules of the “Valley of Kings” in great detail.

The others were listening with fascination.

Only Fang Ye—

the more he listened, the more puzzled he felt, and his expression grew increasingly bemused.

He truly hadn’t expected the National Freshman Competition to be structured this way.

He thought it would just be a straightforward tournament!

*If there’s a “Valley of Kings” forbidden zone, could there be other familiar worlds too?*

Fang Ye wondered as he continued listening to Yan Tai’s explanation.

Gradually—

he began to notice some differences.

For example, in Yan Tai’s version of the Valley of Kings, there were no items to buy, and defeating minions didn’t reward you with gold.

In other words—

victory depended entirely on each team’s actual strength!

Which made sense—

this wasn’t a game; it was a forbidden zone.

No equipment, no items.

Perfectly logical!

*PS:* Most of you have probably played *Honor of Kings*, or maybe *League of Legends*. The upcoming story should feel pretty immersive since *Honor of Kings* borrows heavily from *League of Legends* in its design!
