RWWOKS Chapter 128

This entry is part 129 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

“Sasori,” Chiyo hurried over, finally breathing a sigh of relief when she saw that the energy core on the ground was intact.

As long as Sasori was unharmed, the rest could be dealt with once they returned to the village.

After a few moments of deep thought, Chiyo turned to the two companions who had fought alongside her. “I have a request—though I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to ask.”

“Please, go ahead,” they replied.

“I was hoping you could keep this secret,” she said, glancing at the shattered Third Kazekage puppet on the ground.

Clearly, Chiyo wanted to save her grandson. Without solid evidence, the village wouldn’t be able to take any drastic action against Sasori. Besides, with the Sand Village currently leaderless, having Sasori reform could be beneficial for the village.

“Perhaps, even the position of Fifth Kazekage could be considered…”

Understanding her intentions, both Fang Bo and Kimimaro agreed to keep the secret. After all, they were still allies, and to ensure the success of the Konoha Crush Plan, it was important to maintain good relations.

Kimimaro would support anything beneficial to Orochimaru without question, and Fang Bo certainly had no reason to expose this. Given the inevitable fallout with Konoha, it was best to keep friendly ties with the Sand Village.

In case things went south with Orochimaru, at least Fang Bo would have a backup plan.

Nodding to the two of them, Chiyo picked up the energy core and left.

[You have successfully altered Sasori of the Red Sand’s fate.]

[You have earned one Fate Token.]

“Let’s head back,” Fang Bo said, delighted to have earned another token.

Kimimaro had promised to help him three times, and this was the first—though Fang Bo was curious about what the actual rewards would be.

[Hidden Mission: Sasori of the Red Sand (Completed)]

[Calculating results… generating rewards.]

[Based on your contribution, you may select two rewards from the following options:]

[Option 1: 1000 Plot Points]

[Option 2: Basic Puppet Crafting LV5]

[Option 3: 3 Attribute Points]

[Option 4: 6 Merit Points]

[Option 5: Human Puppet Crafting (Rare)]

“As expected, the rewards aren’t great,” Fang Bo sighed.

Relying too much on plot characters naturally diminished the value of the rewards. But he had no choice—there was no way he could’ve completed the mission on his own.

After a quick glance at the list, he selected his rewards.

Attribute points were a must, and he immediately allocated them to agility.

**Agility: 13 (+3)**

With equipment boosts, his agility now reached a respectable level—no longer slow compared to other reincarnators.

With his levitation acceleration, the 130% boost would be even more effective.

For the second reward, he chose the rare **Human Puppet Crafting Technique** without hesitation.

If he mastered the art of creating human puppets, he could potentially craft powerful puppets in the future.

The idea was appealing, but when he saw the learning requirements, Fang Bo was stunned.

**Human Puppet Crafting:** Teaches you how to create human puppets.

**Prerequisites:** Basic Puppet Crafting MAX, Puppet Repair MAX, Mechanism Parts Knowledge MAX.

To learn Sasori’s human puppet technique, he needed to max out three foundational skills.

And that didn’t even include the future costs of crafting the puppets. The total plot points required would be astronomical.

No wonder people said summoning and puppet crafting were hobbies for the rich. Fang Bo was now feeling the truth of that statement.

Still, considering the value of quality, he felt it would be worth the cost.

For example, if he could turn someone like Kimimaro into a human puppet, no amount of plot points would be too much.

“No worries, once I clear out some inventory, I’m sure my plot points will shoot up again.”

As he pondered how to make more money, he reminded himself not to waste resources.

Even if he came across something tempting, he needed to exercise restraint.

However, when Fang Bo returned to the Sound Village, things weren’t as simple as he had imagined.

Upon arriving, the first thing he encountered were his future teammates: Jugo and Guren, both of whom had come to meet up.

Jugo was easy to get along with, especially since Fang Bo had saved Kimimaro’s life, a gesture that meant more to Jugo than saving himself.

“From today on, we’re teammates,” Jugo said, offering his hand in friendship.

As for Guren, her personality wasn’t great. She was only participating in the Chunin Exams due to Orochimaru’s orders, so it was unlikely she would have a good attitude.

Luckily, Fang Bo didn’t care. They were all there for the common goal of destroying Konoha—there was no need to develop any deep bonds.

[Step 2: Find Teammates (Completed)]

[Step 3: Participate in the Chunin Exams]

[Mission Brief: Head to Konoha to take part in the exams and assist Orochimaru in his plan.]

With his teammates gathered, they could now move on to the next stage of the mission.

But before that, Fang Bo decided to build some teamwork and let Jorogumo rebuild her ghost spider army.

In the battle at Heaven-Earth Bridge, all the ghost spiders he had painstakingly cultivated were lost. To be ready for the Forest of Death, he needed to replenish his forces as much as possible.

Initially, Fang Bo had planned to visit the Exchange Office to see if he could pick up any assassination missions.

But thanks to his reputation, he unexpectedly unlocked the Sound Village’s **Faction Store** and mission system.

With the remaining time, he could take on more tasks and increase his resources.

“Let’s see if there’s anything good.”

“I’m just looking. I won’t spend recklessly.”

[Your reputation in Sound Village has reached Friendly.]

[Faction Store Unlocked.]

[Unlocked: Item Purchase Access]

[Unlocked: Equipment Purchase Access]

[Unlocked: Ninjutsu Purchase Access]

[Unlocked: Mission Access]

The Sound Village was small, and the shops were all clustered together. Fang Bo started by checking out the available equipment.

[Armored Gauntlets, Price: 2000 Plot Points]

[Gale Short Blade, Price: 1000 Plot Points]

[Special Ninja Tool Pack, Price: 800 Plot Points]

[Poisoned Shuriken ×30, Price: 400 Plot Points]

[Howling Kunai, Price: 200 Plot Points]

Most of the gear wasn’t too appealing, but the **Armored Gauntlets** were incredibly valuable—Fang Bo was very tempted.

**Item Name:** Armored Gauntlets

**Quality:** Superior

**Type:** Bracers

**Durability:** 45/45

**Attribute Bonus:** Strength +2

**Requirements:** Strength 10, Constitution 8

**Equipment Effect:** Energy Absorption

**Origin:** Naruto

**Equipment Evaluation:** It can help you recover energy, but only if you never let go.

**Energy Absorption (Active Skill):** Absorbs 1 point of mental energy every 3 seconds, requires skill activation.

This gear was similar to the bronze armor, allowing the wearer to recover mental energy through touch.

No wonder the stats were so bad, yet they dared to sell it at the price of high-level epic gear.

What defines high-level epic equipment? It’s the rarity of the components, along with very useful bonus attributes and skills.

In contrast, Fang Bo’s iron fan and dual scythes fell under the category of low-level epic gear, and the price difference between the two was huge.

This piece of equipment had poor stats, completely unnecessary for Fang Bo. Other than the mana absorption ability, it was basically useless.

After a long internal debate, Fang Bo decided to give up on replacing his equipment.

The mana absorption feature was indeed useful, but he wondered if upgrading his “Recovery Technique” might grant him a similar effect.

If he maxed it out, the “Plunder” skill might even be able to absorb mental energy as well.

Even if it couldn’t, he couldn’t justify spending 2,000 plot points on a piece of superior gear right now.

Let’s not forget, Fang Bo still had a debt of 3,000 points to pay off, so any high expenditures were strictly off the table for now.

After checking out the equipment, he moved on to the skills section.

– [Basic Music, Price: 150 Plot Points]

– [Basic Shooting, Price: 150 Plot Points]

– [Basic Medical Skills, Price: 150 Plot Points]

– [Basic Skill Upgrade Scroll, Price: 150 Plot Points]

– [Palm Sage Technique, Price: 1,000 Plot Points]

– [Earth Prison Hall, Price: 1,000 Plot Points]

– [Dream Sound Lock, Price: 1,000 Plot Points]

– [Summoning: Snake, Price: 800 Plot Points]

– [Earth Wall Scroll (Single Use), Price: 200 Plot Points]

– [Water Dragon Bullet (Single Use), Price: 200 Plot Points]

– [Echo Piercer (Single Use), Price: 200 Plot Points]

– [Air Slash Wave (Single Use), Price: 200 Plot Points]

There were single-use jutsu scrolls as well as learnable skills, but none of them met Fang Bo’s core needs for the moment.

The single-use scrolls, however, seemed quite useful. If used well, they could play a critical role.

The fact that these scrolls were available in the Sound Village meant they were probably available in other hidden villages too. Fang Bo could already imagine future battles filled with flying jutsu.

“This isn’t war; it’s a contest of who has more money.”

Adopting the mindset of “if others have it, I should too,” Fang Bo first exchanged for an Earth Wall scroll, followed by a Water Dragon Bullet.

Considering he could also use the faction store when he arrived in Konoha, he decided to grab just two for now and wait until he really needed them.

Lastly, he visited the most common type of shop—the pharmacy.

– [Strong Military Pill, Price: 500 Plot Points]

– [Strong Blood Pill, Price: 500 Plot Points]

– [Strong Explosive Tag, Price: 100 Plot Points]

– [Snake Poison Elixir, Price: 100 Plot Points]

**Military Pill:** Restores 10 mental energy, with a 30-minute cooldown.

**Blood Pill:** Immediately restores 80 HP, with an additional 200 HP recovery over 120 seconds.

These were all good items, especially the ones that restored mental energy, which were quite rare.

But the price made Fang Bo hesitant to buy anything until he cleared out his inventory.

“No wonder they say war burns through money. With enough plot points, my combat strength could increase by at least 20%.”

Many had the backing of large teams, but Fang Bo didn’t have that kind of financial support, so he’d have to find ways to make up for it elsewhere.

For example, he could quickly refill Jorogumo’s spider army. If he could transform a few of the ghost spiders into second-tier ones, that would be even better.

When that time came, his spider horde would sweep through the Forest of Death, collecting all the plot points in other people’s pockets for him.

After browsing the faction store, Fang Bo headed to the mission center.

Breeding ghost spiders aimlessly wouldn’t work. Completing missions from the village would be more efficient.

– [Hunt Down Genin: C-Rank, Reward: 200,000 ryo, +40 Sound Village Reputation]

– [Eliminate Rogue Ninja Hideout: B-Rank, Reward: 500,000 ryo, +100 Sound Village Reputation]

– [Attack Ninja Village: A-Rank, Reward: 1.5 million ryo, +300 Sound Village Reputation]

– [Find Test Subjects: Unknown Rank, Reward and Reputation determined by subject quality]

The higher the faction reputation, the more items would be unlocked in the store, and prices would be reduced as well.

Fang Bo’s next goal was to gather resources to build his army while also increasing his faction reputation.

With 20 days left until the Chunin Exams, while others were busy fighting, Fang Bo set his sights on faction missions.

As the saying goes, sharpening your axe before chopping wood is never wasted time—strengthening himself would make future hunts easier.

Taking down just one high-level reincarnator with maxed attributes would be far more rewarding than killing a bunch of ordinary ones.

As always, the Forest of Death was Fang Bo’s best opportunity to score points. The environment there was perfect for Jorogumo’s ghost spiders.

“Alright, time to go grind some missions,” he said to himself.
