RWWOKS Chapter 158

This entry is part 159 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

After submitting both the Heaven and Earth scrolls, Fang Bo successfully passed the second round of the trial.

“37th place?” A distant reincarnator stretched lazily, muttering to himself as he walked aside. “There sure are still a lot of people left.”

After several rounds of fierce battles, they had expected fewer reincarnators to remain. But in the end, even with their rush, they didn’t manage to make it into the top twenty.

“What can you do, there are slackers everywhere.” A girl with long braids chuckled, casting a playful glance at the dazed Yaoyao nearby.

She loved teasing the little girl, but it seemed Yaoyao wasn’t particularly fond of her.

Sneaking a glance at the woman’s ample chest, Yaoyao rolled her eyes cutely and instinctively distanced herself.

Being a slacker was fine, at least they made it to the end. But thinking of her fallen friends, the little girl couldn’t help but feel downcast again.

Noticing this, Guren quickly went over to comfort her. She, too, had a soft spot for the lively little girl.

At this moment, Fang Bo suddenly spotted Team 7, particularly Uchiha Sasuke, and could see the excitement and inner struggle in his eyes.

Having suddenly gained immense power, even though Sasuke knew the risks of using it, how many people with ambition could truly resist? Sasuke, for one, likely wouldn’t.

All he needed now was a reason, and Uchiha Itachi’s return would soon serve as that spark.

Thinking of that man, Fang Bo was reminded of something. He had spent a fortune to hire a member of the Akatsuki.

Now that the second trial was almost over, he wondered whether Kakuzu had arrived in the Hidden Leaf Village yet.

If he had, maybe Fang Bo could get a few tasks from him.

With a month’s time during the intermission period, Fang Bo didn’t want to waste it on trivial low-level tasks.

While he was lost in thought, another group of reincarnators returned, led by none other than the mysterious evil eye user, Black Soul.

Since the beginning of the battle, Fang Bo hadn’t seen this guy anywhere.

He had assumed he’d been killed by someone, but it seemed Black Soul had been leading another team instead.

Noticing the white cloth wrapped around his forehead, Fang Bo was curious about what abilities the so-called evil eye possessed.

After a brief greeting, Black Soul glanced around and spoke calmly, “Judging by your expressions, it seems like the harvest wasn’t too bad.”

The faction had indeed suffered significant losses, but those who survived had gained a fair amount.

This was the essence of the Reincarnation Space—to continually sift out the strongest. The fallen became nourishment, and without their sacrifice, those remaining wouldn’t have become as powerful as they were now.

“Not bad,” Yordel nodded, though there was a hint of regret in his voice as he said, “It’s just a shame we still couldn’t kill those two.”

He was referring to two individuals: the Quincy, Long Xian, and the Dragon Slayer from the Hidden Cloud faction.

Despite multiple confrontations, they had never managed to claim victory, which left him deeply disappointed.

But fortunately, things weren’t over yet. The upcoming second selection round would provide a perfect opportunity.

One-on-one deathmatches, where the loser would lose the chance to continue fighting—or rather, no one would let their opponent leave alive.

If he met either of those two again, Yordel was determined to kill them with his own hands.

“I can’t wait,” he muttered.

After a brief regroup, the reincarnators of the Hidden Sand faction headed to the resting area.

Many participants still lingered in the forest, so all they had to do now was wait.

That night, the Hidden Sand faction gathered for a meeting.

With the even more brutal trials approaching, everyone agreed to trade resources with one another.

Some needed healing items, others wanted to upgrade their equipment, and many were looking for powerful ninjutsu scrolls.

The reincarnators in ranged or healing roles, in particular, were anxious, knowing their abilities weren’t well-suited for the arena.

Without strong offensive techniques, they had no choice but to spend large amounts of points on one-time-use items.

For example, someone sold a “Great Fireball” one-time-use scroll for a staggering 600 story points.

Even the jutsu itself wouldn’t normally fetch that price, let alone a one-time-use scroll.

It showed just how seriously everyone was taking the upcoming fights. After all, no matter how precious story points were, they couldn’t compare to the value of one’s life.

As for Fang Bo, after a quick glance at what was available, he realized there wasn’t much he needed. So, he took out everything he had for sale.

With prices clearly marked, anyone interested could simply take what they liked—no haggling.

For sale:

– Dragon Jade of Strength: 1200 story points

– Demon’s Eye: 280 story points

– Earth Dragon Bullet Scroll: 400 story points

– Invitation to the Unified Tao Academy: 300 story points

– Xinyi Liuhe Boxing Manual: 500 story points

– Unopened Commission Letter: 200 story points

– Summoning Contract: 400 story points

– Hidden Shadow Snake Hands: 400 story points

There was quite the assortment, and although Fang Bo had earned well, he wasn’t the most successful one there.

Within ten minutes, everything he put up for sale had been purchased.

Some of the lower-level skills could be combined with others, and while Fang Bo didn’t fully understand the process, he was glad the items sold quickly.

The transaction brought in a total of 3,680 story points.

Fang Bo finally hit his goal—his story points had surpassed 10,000.

Story Points: 10,667 (3,000 in debt)

“I’m officially in the five-figure club,” he thought proudly.

Feeling a bit flush with cash, Fang Bo began wandering around.

“I’m not buying, just looking,” he told himself.

But as luck would have it, he found something that caught his eye.

It was a heavy warhammer, and Yaoyao couldn’t tear her gaze away from it the moment she saw it.

No one knew why the little girl was so fond of hammer-type weapons.

Approaching the vendor, Fang Bo examined the weapon’s details.

Name: Elemental Crushing Hammer

Grade: Epic

Type: Two-Handed Weapon

Attack: 12-15

Durability: 160/160

Stat Boost: Strength +4

Requirements: Strength 30, Constitution 12

Special Effect: Elemental Ravager

Origin: OVERLORD

Item Evaluation: Not quite a mage-killer, but useful for dealing with shell-type defense techniques.

Elemental Ravager (Passive): It can absorb surrounding elements, including energy-based attacks from enemies.

Perhaps in a rush to sell, the vendor had listed it for just 1,400 story points.

Considering it was a weapon ideal for countering magic-based foes, the price was a bargain.

In fact, its true value far exceeded its base attack stats.

If sold normally, it could easily fetch 1,600-1,800 points. There were definitely some brutes willing to pay that price.

“It’s actually not that expensive, only 1,400. Just kill a couple of people, and you’ll make it back.”

“The *Gate of Babylon* requires a large stock of weapons. Anytime there’s a chance to acquire more, you must add to it, or the skill will never reach its full potential.”

“Alright, I’ll buy it.”

With a firm resolve, Fang Bo purchased the *Elemental Crushing Hammer* from the world of Overlord on the spot.

Story Points: 9,267 (3,000 in debt)

“Look, I still have plenty left, no way I’ll run out.”

At that moment, he completely forgot about the large number of skills he hadn’t upgraded yet.

Sometimes thinking too much just gives you a headache—better to seize the moment and enjoy what’s right in front of you.

He immediately converted the hammer into a noble phantasm, his display of wealth drawing envious looks from many. Everyone had seen him buy an A-rank skill earlier, so there was no point in hiding it. He figured it was better to just show it off openly.

However, he overlooked one thing—flaunting wealth can sometimes bring about its own problems.

Sure enough, not long after, another epic weapon appeared before him.

Name: *Shadow Moon Fork*

Grade: Epic

Category: Throwing Weapon

Attack: 10-14

Durability: 120/120

Attribute Boost: Strength +2, Agility +2

Requirements: Strength 18, Agility 15, Constitution 12

Equipment Effects: Light Concealment, Auto-Retrieval

Origin: *Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation*

Item Evaluation: Just be sure not to let your enemy see you throw it.

Light Concealment (Passive): When thrown, it automatically gains visual invisibility.

Auto-Retrieval (Passive): After being thrown, it returns to your hand after ten seconds.

This weapon could essentially “turn invisible,” and being a rare throwing weapon, it was a perfect candidate to be added to the *Gate of Babylon*.

The best part was that activating its invisibility didn’t require any mental energy. As long as the throwing action was subtle enough, it could definitely catch enemies off guard.

“Now *this* is good stuff.”

Noticing Fang Bo’s expression, the seller eagerly spoke up, “How about 1,350 story points for such a fine weapon? A fair deal, right?”

What’s with the odd number?

Fang Bo had intended to act indifferent, but his earlier actions had completely given away his desire for more weapons.

Given the upcoming battles, Fang Bo didn’t hesitate anymore and paid up promptly.

Weapon Storage Capacity: 4 (Greatsword “Ximena,” Crescent Moon Dragon, Elemental Crushing Hammer, Shadow Moon Fork)

With the *Shadow Moon Fork* now added to his inventory of noble phantasms, his stock of weapons was starting to look a little more respectable.

As for the cost…

Story Points: 7,917 (3,000 in debt)

“Still got 8,000 points. That seems like quite a lot.”

Perhaps the excitement of shopping had gotten to him because Fang Bo was feeling particularly energetic.

However, as more sellers started crowding around him, he quickly realized that he couldn’t keep spending like this.

Upgrading an A-rank skill takes a lot of time and effort—it requires a huge investment to raise the level bit by bit.

If he got carried away and bought ten or so epic weapons on impulse, sure, he’d look stronger, but the improvement wouldn’t be nearly as effective as leveling up his skills.

“Better stop while I’m ahead, or I’ll be broke again.”

Rejecting the requests to browse other items, Fang Bo hurriedly left the market area, fearing he wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation of even more good weapons.

Rushing back to the temporary lodging provided by the Hidden Leaf Village, he reminded himself that the exam would likely wrap up by noon the next day.

Later in the evening, after everyone had rested, the second round of additional matches would commence.

“Hopefully, I’ll be matched up with some interesting opponents.”

Having spent so many story points, he now had to find a way to make up for it.

By this point, every reincarnator had pretty deep pockets, and the thought of it made Fang Bo’s fingers itch with anticipation.

Meanwhile, the disappearance of Mitarashi Anko’s squad had finally drawn the attention of the higher-ups in the Hidden Leaf Village.

“This is rather strange.” Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi tapped his pipe, his face growing more solemn by the minute.

First, there was the case of imposters, and now Mitarashi Anko’s death—everything pointed to an impending storm.

“Peace… seems to be slipping away from us once again,” Sarutobi sighed, his thoughts drifting back to that rainy night.

If not for Itachi’s decisive action back then, the Hidden Leaf might have already been dragged into the quagmire of war.

Reviewing the report in his hand, his gaze focused on the field investigation details.

“Spider silk… It seems the enemy has an extraordinary summoning beast.”

Going through the records of the examinees and cross-referencing with statements, the Hidden Leaf quickly locked in on a suspect.

Sound Village, candidate Hiroki.
