RWWOKS Chapter 195

This entry is part 196 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

“Technique Deployed!”

At the start of the battle, Akaza, standing within his signature twelve-pointed snowflake array, instinctively activated his core skill, Destructive Death Compass Needle.

This heightened his ability to sense fighting spirit, drastically improving his precision in attacks and evasion.

The stronger the opponent, the more precise the Compass Needle’s response.

However, Akaza overlooked one critical issue: against AoE (Area of Effect) skills, relying on evasion alone was a foolish strategy.

AoE attacks bypass the need for precision, ensuring unavoidable damage within the targeted area.

[Wind Shadow Puppet’s iron sand attack hits, dealing 36 piercing damage.]

Watching his adversary struggle within the swirling storm of iron sand, Fang Bo smirked slightly. He knew Akaza wouldn’t yield so easily. Otherwise, it would be time to seek a more challenging opponent.

As expected, once Akaza grasped the puppet’s attack patterns, he unleashed one of his most powerful techniques: Destructive Death: Annihilation Form – Blue Silver Chaos Shots!

Hundreds of energy projectiles burst forth, shattering the swirling iron sand barrier around him.

In the resulting chaos, Akaza rushed toward Fang Bo, using his arm to deflect the attacks of Yorichi Type Zero.

The ancient puppet’s dual Sun Breathing katanas struck critical blows, dealing devastating damage. One precise slash even severed Akaza’s left arm, temporarily incapacitating his regeneration due to the Sun Breathing’s unique properties.

Before Akaza could fully recover, streaks of golden light—Fang Bo’s summoned weapons—rained down like shooting stars. Though the Compass Needle allowed Akaza to dodge many of the attacks, his movements became unsteady, leaving him open to dual threats.

From the left, the golden Kusanagi Sword pierced through Akaza’s torso effortlessly, its edge ignoring the supposed impenetrability of the Upper Moon’s flesh.

[Your treasure Kusanagi Sword dealt 150 critical damage to Akaza.]

From the right, the Crescent Moon Qinglong Blade struck with a roar, activated to release its Dragon Cleave Slash. The attack severed Akaza’s other arm cleanly.

[Your treasure Crescent Moon Qinglong Blade dealt 62 damage to Akaza.]

While both weapons dealt significant damage, it was clear that the Kusanagi Sword’s critical strikes in standard attacks made it more efficient in terms of energy expenditure. Dragon Cleave Slash, in contrast, consumed 4 spirit points per strike, making it more suitable for strength-focused builds.

If Fang Bo’s strength stat reached 30 points, the Qinglong Blade’s output might surpass even the Kusanagi Sword. However, for now, its role was better suited for controlled bursts rather than sustained assaults.

Despite losing both arms, Akaza’s projection pressed forward, relying on sheer tenacity. No arms? Then he’d use his legs. No legs? He’d crawl. Akaza’s will was a force of nature—one that didn’t recognize surrender.

As his powerful legs propelled him forward, he targeted Fang Bo with a devastating kick: Destructive Death: Crown Splitter Slash!

The strike aimed directly for Fang Bo’s head, its speed and lethality unmatched. However, Fang Bo’s newly upgraded Combat Sense (Level 6) alerted him to the attack before it landed.

With a quick sidestep and a burst from his Hover Acceleration, he avoided the attack, creating distance between them. As their paths crossed, Fang Bo grazed Akaza’s torso with his fingers, activating his new skill.

[Target afflicted with Frail status: Damage taken increased by 20%. Duration: 10 seconds.]

Akaza roared in fury, ignoring his critical condition as he lunged after Fang Bo.

“Reckless to the end,” Fang Bo muttered, summoning his Wind Shadow Puppet to block the demon’s path.

The real Akaza might have been smarter, opting to stall and wait for his regeneration to overcome the Sun Breathing’s suppression. But this projection only knew relentless pursuit.

Fang Bo sighed softly, knowing it was time to end the fight.

Magnet Release: Iron Sand Drizzle!

Thousands of iron needles fired at high speed, perforating Akaza’s projection entirely. Before he could recover, Yorichi Type Zero followed up with a decisive lunge, impaling Akaza through the chest and ending the battle.

Satisfied with the results, Fang Bo stored away his puppets and exited the training arena.

He had a solid understanding of his new abilities and their practical applications. However, the moment he left, a message from Darren lit up his communicator.

[Darren: Heads up. Someone’s been asking around about you.]

The warning made it clear that the inquirers weren’t part of the Orphanage Organization—if they were, Darren wouldn’t have bothered to send a heads-up.

Upon returning to his quarters, Fang Bo was notified of Darren’s request to enter his personal space.

After approving it, Fang Bo was greeted by a stunning figure in sleek black stockings—Darren had reverted to her original appearance.

As she casually sprawled across the sofa, her tone was lighthearted yet direct: “So, the Onmyoji crew backed out. Not surprising, really.”

While Darren’s visit seemed unnecessary for this news, she quickly revealed the real reason for her arrival by producing a document that gleamed with significance.

“Team Establishment Certificate: Allows the creation of a novice-level reincarnator team.”

“Where’d you find that?” Fang Bo asked, intrigued.

“Dumpster diving.” Darren’s sharp tone betrayed her sarcasm.

After a brief pause, she elaborated: “Team levels come with unique perks—kind of like military ranks. The higher the level, the better the benefits.”

“Like what?”

“Shared resources, specialized abilities, team-exclusive spaces…” Darren’s voice grew more serious. “The higher we rank, the more powerful our team becomes. If we’re going to do this, we need to rank up quickly.”

The process wasn’t as complicated as Fang Bo had imagined. After some quick administrative work, their Level 1 Team was officially established.

Darren smiled knowingly. “With you and Olson tackling the King of Fighters mission, we’re bound to earn a massive experience boost right away.”

Fang Bo chuckled. “Let’s hope it’s enough to make up for the missed opportunities in Demon Slayer.”

For now, the Ruthless Squad was formed. Ahead lay the daunting challenges of KOF 2000, where victory would pave the way for their team’s growth—and their survival.

Team Name: Ruthless Squad
Level: LV1
Members: 1/5
Team Skills: None
Team Tech: None
Team Base: Not yet unlocked
Team Warehouse: Not yet unlocked
Stationed World: Unspecified (Selectable World: 1)

“Huh.” Fang Bo didn’t linger on the team name; his attention was drawn to the concept of a “stationed world.”

Upon clicking, he discovered that it pointed to Demon Slayer’s world.

“What’s this, an additional reward for completing it?”

[You’ve received an invitation to join the team “Ruthless Squad.”]

“…What kind of cringe-worthy name is this?” Fang Bo frowned. “‘Ruthless Squad?’ They could’ve gone with something like ‘Emperor,’ ‘Overlord,’ or ‘Supremacy.’ At least those sound more imposing.”

However, the certificate was purchased by Darren, so she held naming rights. Unfortunately, Fang Bo had no say in the matter.

[Team Notice: Member #13810 has joined “Ruthless Squad.”]
[Team Notice: Member #12443 has joined “Ruthless Squad.”]

Soon, both Olson and Ali joined the team. Unsurprisingly, their immediate reaction was to mock the team name.

[Olson: Who came up with this cursed name?]
[Ali: I think we should call it ‘Justice League.’ That better suits our vibe.]
[Olson: Shut up already.]
[Darren: I named it. Got a problem?]

As Darren’s fiery tone entered the chat, the team channel fell silent instantly.

Meanwhile, Fang Bo noticed his personal profile had been updated.

Name: Fang Bo
ID: #14552
Rank: Major
Merit: 76
Story Points: 794
Attribute Points: 0
Completed Worlds: 4
Destiny Tokens: 6
Affiliation: Ruthless Squad
Titles: The Reaper, Chunin LV3 (Strength +3, Agility +3, Reputation Gain Rate +30%)

“So much for being a lone wolf—I ended up in a team anyway.” Fang Bo chuckled to himself.

Though he hadn’t yet experienced the perks of team gameplay, the idea of cooperating in future missions seemed appealing.

Letting go of the awkwardness surrounding the team name, the group began casually chatting in the team channel.

Olson and Fang Bo confirmed they’d head to the King of Fighters 2000 world, scheduled three days later at noon.

Ali and Darren, meanwhile, decided to check the next available story world and potentially team up if it suited their objectives.

Darren aimed to find a world that would bolster her abilities, while Ali hoped to continue fulfilling his jujutsu sorcerer duties.

Though retaliation from the Orphanage was inevitable, the group estimated it would be a few worlds away, so there was no immediate need for concern.

“Stay cautious, you two,” Darren said, standing up with a sullen expression. She glanced at Fang Bo briefly before leaving the room without another word.

Still lost in his thoughts, Fang Bo failed to notice the unusual behavior of the black-clad woman.

“Once we destroy the NESTS organization, the team will probably level up a few times,” Fang Bo mused aloud. “Then we can bring Yaoyao onboard. That girl’s dimensional bag will be super handy for missions.”

Not to mention, with Fairy Tail as a potential future destination, being in the same team would maximize their collective benefits.

Several days passed in preparation. Fang Bo arrived at the plaza, holding the KOF invitation letter in hand.

[Confirm Use?]

With Olson having already departed ahead of schedule, Fang Bo was now ready to step into the King of Fighters world.

“Confirm!”

As a soft white light enveloped him, Fang Bo vanished from the Reincarnation Space.

A new world begins!
