RWWOKS Chapter 208

This entry is part 209 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

Kusanagi Castle resembled a traditional fortress, primarily constructed from stone.

The main structure was the Tenshukaku, a towering stone building with a majestic and awe-inspiring appearance.

From the top of the Tenshukaku, one could gaze out at the distant mountains and clouds, which painted a beautiful picture that lifted Fang Bo’s spirits.

Upon landing that morning, a long line of luxury cars awaited at the airport. The current head of the Kusanagi family, Kyo’s father, Kusanagi Shibou, had been waiting there for his son’s return since before dawn.

As the one who had saved Kyo, Fang Bo naturally received the highest honors from Kusanagi Castle.

The moment he stepped into this otherworldly place, his reputation within the faction reached the respected level.

[Kusanagi Castle Reputation: Respected]

[Faction Shop Unlocked]

[Unlocked Item Purchase Rights]

[Unlocked Equipment Purchase Rights]

[Unlocked Combat Simulation Rights]

The equipment available in the shop focused mostly on melee combat, with high-quality items that offered exceptional effects.

[Flame Gloves, Price: 2500 Plot Points]

[Flame Bracers, Price: 1800 Plot Points]

[Flame Talisman, Price: 1200 Plot Points]

Though their quantities were few, these items were beloved by melee reincarnators. If Olsen had seen them, he would have been ecstatic.

If Fang Bo had enough funds, he wouldn’t hesitate to buy a couple of fine pieces of equipment for his team, and later collect a 30% handling fee.

Unfortunately, his pockets were empty, and he no longer had the luxury of spending twenty thousand plot points without a second thought.

There’s a saying: “Don’t worry about anything but money,” and this principle held true in the reincarnation space as well.

Though he couldn’t afford the equipment, he decided to check the prices of items instead.

[Strength Boosting Potion (Small), Price: 300 Plot Points]

[Agility Boosting Potion (Small), Price: 300 Plot Points]

[Fire Resistance Potion (Small), Price: 500 Plot Points]

[Hand-to-Hand Combat Mastery, Price: 200 Plot Points]

[Grappling Mastery, Price: 200 Plot Points]

Strength Boosting Potion (Small): Increases Strength by 2 points for 5 minutes.

Agility Boosting Potion (Small): Increases Agility by 2 points for 5 minutes.

Fire Resistance Potion (Small): Increases resistance to fire damage by reducing fire damage by 20% for 5 minutes.

Hand-to-Hand Combat Mastery: Enhances hand-to-hand combat experience; requires Max Basic Melee to learn.

Grappling Mastery: Enhances grappling combat experience; requires Max Basic Grappling to learn.

Since he still had a few lower-grade potions left, which were far stronger than these two potions, Fang Bo only had enough to buy a Fire Resistance Potion.

In a world full of flame users like King of Fighters, the Fire Resistance Potion would eventually prove useful.

He also exchanged for Hand-to-Hand Combat Mastery, planning to improve his melee skills when he returned.

Once he mastered the Flying Thunder God technique, he could combine it with his Noble Phantasm to deliver powerful melee attacks.

Of course, the ideal scenario would be to unlock advanced skills involving weaponry.

The Kusanagi family had been experts in close-quarters combat for centuries, and there were no weapon-related skill scrolls for sale. Thus, Fang Bo had no choice but to give up on this idea.

Plot Points: 514

“Another poverty-stricken day,” he muttered.

As for the Combat Simulation Rights, they allowed Fang Bo to train by fighting characters from Kusanagi Castle.

It was a way to boost combat experience.

If given the opportunity, Fang Bo could try it out, but at the moment, he was so low on funds he wished he could serve as a training partner for others instead.

Leaving the solemn Tenshukaku, he decided to kill time by wandering around.

The news of Kyo Kusanagi’s return had already spread, and his teammates had rushed over from South Town in the U.S. overnight.

Since Fang Bo wasn’t familiar with them, he didn’t bother showing up, not wanting to impose.

His reason for being here wasn’t to make acquaintances, but to see if he could trigger a second hidden quest related to Kyo Kusanagi.

Taking out the Fate Token from his pocket, Fang Bo silently whispered a name.

Even without activating it, the token seemed to faintly point toward a fixed direction.

Upon noticing this, Fang Bo smiled slightly, confident that his plan had a high likelihood of success.

When he triggered the quest in South Town and was searching for the target, he wasn’t actually looking for “Kyo Kusanagi” but rather “Kyo Kusanagi No. 0.”

A perfect clone of Kyo Kusanagi, identical in every way, even matching his strength to the letter.

The most important part was that this clone had Kyo’s complete memories and believed wholeheartedly that he was Kyo Kusanagi.

Yes, the Kyo Kusanagi currently chatting with friends and waiting for his girlfriend to arrive was, just like Kyo No. 0, a clone.

Of course, he would never admit to this, nor would anyone be willing to accept such a harsh reality.

The memories of his father, friends, and lover were all someone else’s possessions—he was nothing more than a scientific product with memories.

This revelation could drive anyone to madness.

If someone told him that by destroying the NESTS Organization and killing the original, he could become the one and only true Kyo Kusanagi, most people would take action without hesitation.

Fang Bo, therefore, hoped that this hidden quest would trigger soon.

Regardless, his main goal was to push the five attributes to their maximum in the King of Fighters world. Afterward, he’d focus entirely on accumulating attribute points and preparing for entry into a higher-difficulty world.

As for the dreaded main quest, Fang Bo didn’t find it to be much of a challenge.

No matter how difficult it was, could it compare to the world tasks of destroying Infinite City and the NESTS Organization?

Listening to the distant noise, Fang Bo smiled and returned to his room.

Now was not the time to act—people were highly vigilant during the day, so it would be better to wait until the dead of night before visiting the target.

With his identity as a savior, gaining Kyo No. 0’s trust wouldn’t be difficult.

As long as he was willing to try, finding the real Kyo wouldn’t be hard.

“I hope you don’t disappoint me.”

Inside the family training grounds, the atmosphere was somewhat oppressive.

Shingo Yabuki stood awkwardly, while his teacher, Kyo Kusanagi, had been knocked to the ground.

Naturally, a reunion between master and disciple would be filled with joy, and Shingo wanted to show his teacher how much he had improved over the years.

In the world of martial artists, the best way to exchange knowledge was through combat, so both planned to have a quick spar.

However, within three minutes, Kyo Kusanagi was sent sprawling by Shingo’s iron fist.

By the time Shingo realized what had happened, Kyo had staggered back to his feet.

“Cough cough, you’ve improved quickly,” Kyo said, forcing a smile.

Still, the atmosphere remained heavy, and Redmaru, Daimon, and even Kyo’s father, Kusanagi Shibou, couldn’t hide their sadness in their gazes.

The person before them was Kyo Kusanagi—the legendary “Strongest Fist,” someone even Orochi had to fall before. Yet now, he couldn’t even defeat his own disciple.

“Damn.” Redmaru muttered, unable to suppress his frustration.

Seeing this, Kyo placed a comforting hand on Shingo’s shoulder and said, “It’s alright. I just haven’t fully recovered. I’ll be fine after resting for a while.”

With Kyo’s usual smile, the group relaxed a bit.

“Kyo, are you really not joining us?” Redmaru asked.

“Don’t you already have teammates?” Kyo shook his head, thought for a moment, and then added, “Actually, someone has invited me, but I’m still considering it.”

After a brief chat, they agreed to meet in South Town before parting ways.

“Kyo, don’t push yourself too hard.” Kusanagi Shibou offered a few words of advice before going back to work.

When everyone had left, Kyo Kusanagi’s face turned dark.

Touching his chest, he kept questioning himself, “What’s happening to me?”

When Shingo knocked him down, an overwhelming impulse to destroy everything had suddenly surged within him.

The conversations he had appeared normal on the surface, but in truth, they were all a performance to avoid letting his friends notice his abnormality.

Kyo attributed this strange psychological state entirely to the NESTS Organization.

Sighing, he thought to himself, “Forget it. I’ll just take a few days off.”

His girlfriend, Yuki Inada, wouldn’t arrive until late, so Kyo needed to calm himself down.

As night fell, Kyo was preparing to leave his room to meet his girlfriend.

Just then, he felt a strong presence watching him.

Turning sharply, Kyo saw his new friend “Jason” waving at him from a distance.

[Kyo Kusanagi (???)]

[Attack Tendencies: Low]

[Attribute Tendencies: Strength, Constitution, Mental]

[Traits: Immortal Crimson Flame (Legendary), ???]

[Threat Assessment: A match for me]

“His strength has drastically weakened… No wonder he couldn’t even beat Shingo.”

Fang Bo’s expression remained unchanged, but his mind was racing with thoughts.

When he reached Kyo, his face had turned serious.

“Got a minute? Let’s take a walk outside.”

“Huh?” Kyo was taken aback but eventually agreed, not willing to turn down his life-saving friend’s request.

He knew full well that without Jason’s connections, those two individuals would never have come to his rescue.

Well, maybe Iori could help, but Geese Howard would’ve just killed him instead.

Saving people?

Impossible!

“I’ll wait to meet Yuki later. She won’t mind.”

However, Kyo still hadn’t realized what he was about to face.

Once they reached the empty mountainside, Fang Bo looked at the distant, magnificent view before speaking.

“How much do you know about the NESTS Organization?”

Upon hearing this, Kyo frowned slightly, sensing the atmosphere was off.

After a brief pause, he shared what he knew.

A moment later, Fang Bo interrupted him.

“That’s too shallow. The NESTS is far more powerful than you think.”

“I’m not talking about raw strength. I’m talking about the technology they control.”

“They can reorganize genetic fragments and create clones identical to you.”

Hearing this, Kyo nodded in agreement, thinking Fang Bo was just inviting him to join a team.

But what Jason said next immediately made his face change in fear.

“They can even implant false memories, making a clone believe it’s the original.”

Looking into Jason’s eyes, a flash of terror crossed Kyo Kusanagi’s face.

After a moment, his expression blanked out, replaced by an unsettling calm.

“What do you mean by that?”

“It’s simple.” Fang Bo tossed a coin in the air, his demeanor like a devil tempting his disciple.

“Do you want to know who you really are?”

“Ky… Kyo!”

Hearing his girlfriend’s voice, Kyo’s body involuntarily trembled.

However, he still resolutely boarded the plane to the location Jason had specified.

He needed to prove that he was the true Kyo Kusanagi.

Once everything was settled, he would come back and apologize to Yuki.

But perhaps Kyo didn’t realize it yet—his earlier indifference was actually more like an escape.

Some things, once revealed, are easy to distinguish between truth and lie.

It all depends on whether he’s willing to admit it.
