RWWOKS Chapter 21

This entry is part 22 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

Chapter 21: MAX Heat Drive!

It was clear that the Silver Fox team had objectives tied to the pirate faction.

If they were allowed to continue unchecked, Fang Bo suspected that many others might switch sides, leaving them with fewer potential allies.

As the two sides stood off, Fang Bo’s sharp perception allowed him to eavesdrop on the conversation of a few Reincarnators behind him.

“The guy from NESTS is named Olson, a super rookie being heavily trained by his large team. Word is, he’s already cleared three plot worlds.”

“And what about the other one?”

“That guy is Jiusan. He’s one of the quieter members of Silver Fox, but his swordsmanship is deadly. I’d bet his basic skills are leveled up really high.”

Rising to fame in just a few plot worlds was a sign of remarkable talent. Take Jiusan, for example—a middle-aged man who had trained in kendo for years in the real world. When he entered the Reincarnation Space, he was immediately granted level 11 in basic swordsmanship and a unique talent related to his sword art.

While his opponent, Olson, was a promising rookie nurtured by NESTS, Jiusan’s abilities were no less formidable.

At this point, things had escalated beyond reconciliation. As the strongest visible figures, both sides needed to prove their strength to attract others.

A fight was inevitable.

As the other Reincarnators backed away, the two super rookies faced off on the shore, ready for battle.

Both sides were careful not to go for the kill, as a death could spark an all-out team brawl, damaging both sides’ interests.

If they were going to fight to the death, it would have to be during the space-arranged faction wars.

“Go ahead.” Jiusan drew his sword, and his entire presence intensified, his aura now sharp enough to cause onlookers’ eyes to sting.

Holding his sword in his left hand, its tip lightly grazing the ground, he moved as a gust of wind stirred the leaves, and a flash of brilliant light cut through the air.

Olson instinctively raised his arm, but a moment later, blood sprayed from the gash on his arm.

Against this master of swordsmanship, Olson appeared to have no room to fight back.

Seizing the advantage, Jiusan swung his blade in a wide arc, unleashing a silver crescent slash that swept through the air.

Even though Olson had retreated, the slash still tore into his abdomen, causing blood to pour from the wound.

In just two exchanges, Jiusan had taken complete control. Every move he made was precise, as though honed by endless practice.

In contrast, Olson was utterly outclassed—he hadn’t even managed to launch a counterattack and stood there like a helpless target.

“It’s over!”

Seeing an opening, Jiusan accelerated, breaking through Olson’s defenses with almost invisible speed.

However, just as he was about to land the final blow, Olson vanished into an afterimage.

The speed of that movement was far beyond what a rookie should have been capable of. Even with movement skills, the agility required was extraordinary.

“His agility must be at least twenty points,” Jiusan thought, realizing he had underestimated his opponent.

He had never imagined that someone could push their agility to such terrifying heights in just three plot worlds.

“Is that it?” Olson’s voice came from behind Jiusan.

Before Jiusan could turn around, he felt a wave of scorching heat behind him, making it difficult to breathe.

At some point, the cool-looking youth had donned a metal glove, and intense orange flames were now pouring from the mechanical device.

Heat Drive!

Olson became a blur as he slammed his flaming right hand into Jiusan’s chest. The flames burned fiercely, threatening to incinerate Jiusan in an instant.

Seeing this, the remaining members of the Silver Fox team could no longer stay idle.

“Stop!” Two of them immediately rushed forward to intervene.

At the last moment, Olson halted the flames, using only brute force to hurl Jiusan far away instead.

Although Jiusan was gravely injured, at least his life was spared.

With one hand in his pocket, Olson gazed down arrogantly at the scene, then turned his icy gaze toward the apprehensive members of Silver Fox.

“Aren’t you leaving?”

Defeated, the Silver Fox trio could only retreat in disgrace.

With his display of dominance complete, Olson surveyed the remaining Reincarnators coldly, his oppressive aura filling the air.

“It’s up to you how you choose to proceed.”

With that, the NESTS team began walking toward the distant structure that was unmistakably a Marine base, offering a clear signal to any Reincarnators who wanted to join the Marine faction.

The remaining Reincarnators exchanged hesitant glances. After a brief pause, about a third of them followed the NESTS team toward the island.

Some went along for survival, while others hoped to secure as many benefits as possible. Traveling with the elites offered safety, but there was no guarantee they’d even get a taste of the spoils.

That was the real dilemma.

“An interesting fight.” Fang Bo smirked before turning and heading toward the town.

Before deciding which faction to join, he needed more information—specifically, which point in the timeline they were currently in.

When it came to gathering intelligence, the best place was always the town’s tavern.

“Hey, brother, wait up.”

Suddenly, a voice called out from behind him. Turning around, Fang Bo saw that it was the same Reincarnator who had been boasting earlier.

“Wait up, man. Old Cat here,” the man greeted, acting overly familiar, seemingly unaware—or perhaps uncaring—that Fang Bo could be a potential enemy.

Maybe it was deliberate, using casualness to lower Fang Bo’s guard. However, Fang Bo didn’t care about his intentions.

“What do you want?” His tone was cold and unwelcoming.

Fang Bo’s demeanor clearly showed he wasn’t fond of people getting too close.

Seeing this, the Reincarnator named Old Cat quickly waved his hands in a friendly gesture but kept eyeing Fang Bo’s omni-directional mobility gear.

“I recognize that gear. The fact you got your hands on it means you’ve got some serious skills.”

“Go on.”

“Heh.” Seeing Fang Bo’s attitude soften slightly, Old Cat grinned confidently. “I won’t lie, I make my living selling information. I’ve got a lot of secrets up my sleeve, including tips on how to make the most of this plot world.”

Fang Bo remained silent, unsure of Old Cat’s true intentions.

If Old Cat needed help, why not ask the Silver Fox team? Or one of the other groups? Why approach a lone Reincarnator like Fang Bo?

Sensing Fang Bo’s suspicion, Old Cat smiled and explained, “Don’t underestimate yourself. That gear of yours is incredibly valuable—especially for naval warfare.”

Old Cat wasn’t wrong. The omni-directional mobility gear allowed Fang Bo to bypass the sea, using gas-powered jets to reach enemy ships. By securing his hook onto a ship’s mast, Fang Bo could launch aerial attacks without even firing a shot, simply tossing bombs to obliterate his enemies.

With Fang Bo in the mix, any naval battle would lean heavily in their favor—especially in the relatively weak Four Seas.

He knew his own value and how to leverage his strengths, but he hadn’t expected to attract attention so soon.

Seeing Fang Bo still unmoved, Old Cat gritted his teeth and revealed his true motive.

“Actually, I’ve been assigned a hidden mission, but I need someone to help me complete it. The place we need to go is dangerous, and only your gear can get us there.”

“I’ll give you 30% of the treasure’s value once we succeed. How’s that sound?”

In short, Old Cat needed Fang Bo’s strength to complete the mission.

After some thought, Fang Bo didn’t refuse outright. However, he wasn’t about to risk his life without a guarantee.

“Pay me 200 plot points upfront. I don’t trust strangers easily, and I’m not going to risk my life to help you for free.”

Asking for points upfront might seem rude, but as Fang Bo pointed out, he didn’t care about the supposed treasure. It wasn’t a high-stakes mission for him.

The one with the real need was Old Cat, so the burden of risk had to fall on him.

“Fine.” Old Cat reluctantly transferred 200 plot points through the space’s system.

[ID 11675 has transferred 200 plot points to you.]

With his first payment secured, Fang Bo now had a tidy sum of 250 plot points in his account.

A nice round number.

With information shared and payment received, Old Cat became even more enthusiastic.

“What’s your name, brother?”

“Jason.”

“Oh, that’s a great name.”

They walked together toward the town’s entrance, with Old Cat’s chatter only ceasing when something in the distance caught their attention.

**Bang!**

The sound of a gunshot echoed, and a fleeing pirate collapsed to the ground, blood pouring from his chest.

The shooter, a Marine soldier, stood over him, seemingly in a position of authority.

However, what the Marine did next was anything but honorable.

After rummaging through the pirate’s belongings and finding only a few hundred berries, the young Marine, enraged, began firing repeatedly at the dying pirate.

Only after turning the pirate’s body into a bloody mess did the Marine finally leave, satisfied with his work. He hadn’t even bothered to hide his actions.

The town’s residents, as well as Fang Bo and Old Cat, witnessed the entire scene.

“It seems like the law enforcement in this town is pretty bad.”

Bad law enforcement could mean one of two things: either the Marines were turning a blind eye to things, or the base commander was a complete coward, incapable of dealing with the pirates.

Either way, it was good news for Fang Bo.

As he looked down at the bloodied corpse on the ground, just as he was about to walk away, he noticed that Old Cat had sent him a string of data.
