RWWOKS Chapter 219

This entry is part 220 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

With the Geese Gang now in disarray, there was no longer any threat of continued pursuit.

Without the control of their former mob boss, various factions quickly became independent. Fang Bo believed his bounty would soon be lifted.

If not, who knows if he might be the next one to be killed?

[Side Quest: Geese Gang Pursuit (Completed)]

[You have earned 500 Story Points]

[You have earned a Skill Upgrade Scroll (Active)]

Listening to the prompts echoing in his mind, Fang Bo found a place to sit and rest.

Yashiro was severely injured and needed time to recover, giving Fang Bo the perfect opportunity to claim his quest rewards.

The 500 Story Points weren’t much, but the Skill Upgrade Scroll was the real prize.

It could be used to upgrade King’s Treasure, saving him at least 2800 Story Points.

After confirming the upgrade, the LV7 skill didn’t change much, only slightly improving the additional effect of King’s Power.

Level 6 Effect: King’s Power – Enhances the final damage of Noble Phantasms (12 points).

Though the enhancement wasn’t significant, it saved Fang Bo a lot of Story Points. If he upgraded it two more levels, he could unlock the next skill entry.

Once he returned, he’d see if he could max out King’s Treasure.

He was confident that the skill entries at levels 9 and 12 would add considerable value to this A-tier skill.

“To fully upgrade it, my current Story Points just aren’t enough.”

Every time he thought about this, Fang Bo couldn’t help but want to call the folks at the orphanage to ask if they had enough funds on hand.

“Come on, whether I can max out this skill depends on you guys.”

Seeing that Yashiro was still resting, Fang Bo didn’t hesitate. He opened the red treasure chest dropped by Geese.

He just wasn’t sure if it would contain anything useful.

[You are opening the Story Chest (Red)]

[You have earned 700 Story Points]

[You have earned Qi Storm]

[You have earned Thunderous Power Slam]

[You have earned Nightmare Power (Legendary)]

Qi Storm: B-tier Active Skill, consumes 10 Mental Power, releasing a combined offensive and defensive vortex of blade-like energy.

Thunderous Power Slam: C-tier Active Skill, consumes 4 Mental Power, performing an over-the-shoulder slam that adds thunder damage.

Two more skills he couldn’t use. Though they could be learned actively, Fang Bo didn’t have time for that.

There were still Darkness Walking Technique and, most importantly, Flying Thunder God waiting for him to study. He didn’t have time to learn Qi Storm.

“Guess I’ll have to sell them.”

Thinking of his current learning progress, Fang Bo couldn’t help but sigh. However, he quickly regained his spirits because the red chest had also yielded a trait item.

Nightmare Power (Legendary): The endless nightmare grants you terrifying power. Mental +10, Skill Damage +35%, Duration 10 minutes, Cooldown 8 hours.

Few knew that Geese had another “Nightmare” form.

The triggering condition was unknown, but Geese’s Nightmare form was far stronger than his normal state. In fact, it was slightly stronger than Omega Lucar.

Fang Bo hadn’t expected to pull Nightmare Power from the chest.

This was a great item, especially since its effects were perfect for those who focused on mental strength.

Its enhancements were far superior to the Curse Mark of Heaven.

Curse Mark of Heaven MAX (Forced Bestowal):

Curse Mark I: Mental +4, Agility +2, drains 2 HP per second.

Curse Mark II: Mental +6, Agility +4, drains 5 HP per second.

This was the Strawberry Seal forced onto him by Orochimaru.

At first, Fang Bo had refused, but as the battle intensity rose, he had no choice but to frequently use the cursed forms.

Leaving aside the drawbacks, the 5 HP per second drain could easily deplete his health.

He never dared to activate the Curse Mark in direct combat, only using it at critical moments. If he wasn’t careful, his health could drop to dangerous levels.

If he wasn’t paying attention to his HP consumption, one enemy’s ultimate attack could truly end his life.

If he were to go back to the Naruto World, he might even become a vessel for resurrection.

Some people appeared dead, but you never knew when they might crawl out of the grave.

“Is this my retribution for killing Akaboshi?” Fang Bo thought, slightly troubled.

With his Shadow-level strength, he didn’t feel confident about facing Orochimaru yet. So, he had always wanted to find a way to remove the cursed mark from the back of his neck.

Why did Fang Bo suddenly think of the Curse Mark?

The reason was simple: the space had given him a prompt that Nightmare Power and the Curse Mark could not coexist.

The former’s power was too domineering. If used forcibly, it would completely devour the cursed mark Orochimaru had given him.

He had to choose between keeping the highly dangerous Curse Mark or accepting the new power.

Opening his personal information list, Fang Bo silently stared at the effects of the Curse Mark.

After a moment of hesitation, he absorbed the strange, cloud-like item into his mind.

Soon, a cold wave swept through his entire body.

He thought the absorption of Nightmare Power would make him feel uncomfortable, but the seemingly powerful Curse Mark had silently vanished from his body without any resistance.

When Fang Bo reopened his eyes, they were blood-red, his skin dark brown, and fiery energy constantly swirled around his body.

This was the Nightmare Power form.

Mental: 46 (+27)

He was now only one step away from reaching the second difficulty’s maximum value.

A grin appeared at the corner of his mouth, but it looked more like the sinister smile of a devil.

[You have successfully mastered the new trait Nightmare Power (Legendary)]

[You have lost Curse Mark of Heaven MAX (Forced Bestowal)]

[Due to your drastic change in aura, you have lost the trait “Artistic Aura”]

Fang Bo had been grinning, but his smile faltered.

Losing the Curse Mark was one thing, but how had he also lost his Artistic Aura?

At first, Fang Bo felt angry, but when he looked at himself in the mirror, he fell silent.

With his current appearance, it would be hard to call himself an artist. He looked more like a devil who had crawled out of hell.

Even after exiting Nightmare Power, his aura had completely changed.

Compared to an artist, he now resembled a battlefield killer stepping over piles of corpses.

Traits: Steel Heart (Legendary), Nightmare Power (Legendary)

Looking at his two traits, Fang Bo no longer cared about the side effects.

In truth, the attribute boost from Nightmare Power wasn’t particularly strong. What made it attractive was the +35% skill damage effect.

What did that mean?

A skill that would normally deal 100 damage would now deal 135 damage in Nightmare form.

A regular skill that would deal 200 damage could soar to 270 with the enhancement of Nightmare Power.

As time passed, this boost would become even more terrifying.

If he consumed some attribute-enhancing potions to raise the base damage of his skills, the resulting destructive power would increase exponentially.

At this point, Fang Bo had grown accustomed to using basic skills to whittle down health, only relying on the Imitation skill for big damage at critical moments.

Every time he used a skill copied by Imitation, though it drained a significant amount of Mental Power, the resulting damage was substantial.

With the Nightmare Power form in effect, Fang Bo’s raw combat ability could increase substantially in an instant.

Unfortunately, the Nightmare Power bonus only applied to active damage skills and didn’t affect summons, healing, or other types of skills.

This meant that Healing Techniques and King’s Treasure could not benefit from the bonus—only direct-damage skills would be enhanced.

The skills copied by Imitation would receive the bonus, even Mental Shock, a skill he personally used, would enjoy the damage boost.

This new trait seemed to be hinting that he should learn some high-damage skills.

While his skill bar wasn’t large enough, he could always self-teach. But at the moment, there was one tricky problem.

That was the two skills he was currently learning: Darkness Walking and Flying Thunder God Technique.

Thanks to his prior foundation in hypnosis and illusion, the study of Darkness Walking was progressing smoothly, and he’d master it soon.

The main issue lay with Flying Thunder God Technique.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t sense the spatial coordinates required.

Without being able to mark the spatial coordinates, he couldn’t complete the space jump from Point A to Point B, making it impossible to master this rare space-type skill.

After spending much time and effort with no results, Fang Bo had to admit that maybe he just wasn’t talented in this area.

He was reluctant to sell the technique, though, because the combination of Noble Phantasms and Flying Thunder God was simply too alluring in battle.

“If it comes to that, I’ll just wait until Roku Shinbu becomes a follower and use the extra skill slots to learn it,” he muttered to himself.

With the creation technique for human puppets and the special effects of King’s Treasure, Fang Bo no longer lacked means for crowd control. Not to mention, he had the Ghost Mother’s Yin-Ji summoning army to back him up.

At this point, it seemed like he should stop pursuing the summoner path.

Clutching the Flying Thunder God Scroll, Fang Bo resolved that if he couldn’t find a proper method to learn it, he’d simply convert it into a skill.

Just then, the Ghost Spiders returned from their hunt. Fang Bo noticed that, without realizing it, two Slaughter Spider Guards had been born.

These little creatures would definitely prove useful when the final battle began.

“Let’s go.” Yashiro stood up from the ground, stepping through the ruins of Geesta as he walked toward the exit.

After this battle, he longed to regain his original strength.

If it were 1997 him here, even if Geese and Billy teamed up, they wouldn’t last ten minutes before him.

As if understanding his teammate’s desire, Fang Bo dismissed the Shikigami Summon and prepared to visit the legendary Kagura Chizuru.

Meanwhile, Billy, who had escaped Geesta, encountered two people blocking his path.

“It’s you?!” He immediately recognized them.

Back in 1996, this man had visited Geese and, after learning a move called Raging Wind Fist, left in a carefree manner.

He had heard that the man was dead, but here he was, standing before him again.

After setting Geese’s body aside, Billy gripped his baton tightly, ready to fight these two bastards to the death.

“If you don’t want to die, stop now,” said Lucar, revealing his face after removing his hood. His gaze landed on the body of Geese. “If you act fast, there might still be a chance to save him.”

“?” Billy was confused. How could a dead man be revived?

But considering the multiple rumors of the man’s death, he thought it might not hurt to let him try.

If the revival failed, he’d just kill these two bastards.

However, Lucar didn’t seem to care about his hostility, or perhaps he just didn’t deem it worth his time to deal with such weaklings.

He walked over to Geese’s body and took out a small knife, cutting open his own wrist.

“…” Billy blinked, feeling like he had just stepped into a surreal scene.

Could blood really revive someone?

It didn’t seem scientific at all.

But when Geese’s body started shaking violently, Billy couldn’t help but admit that humanity’s understanding of science still had a long way to go.

“Boss!”

With a terrifying surge of energy, the long-dead Geese slowly began to float into the air.

His blood-red eyes snapped open, and violent energy spiraled around his body.

Nightmare Geese had arrived!
