RWWOKS Chapter 231

This entry is part 232 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

On the transport plane, Jason gazed out of the window, his face filled with an inexplicable sense of awe.

“These guys really haven’t left, huh?”

Constantine, who had also come over, looked down with a hint of confusion. “The hostages have been rescued. Why are they still staying here?”

“Of course, they’re here to fight us.”

Behind them, a seemingly ordinary woman sat in front of a mirror, calmly brushing her messy hair.

She appeared almost indifferent to the upcoming battle.

Her answer clearly didn’t satisfy the Chosen One.

“If they wanted to fight us, why would the enemy bother with a ‘decoy’ strategy?”

This question was answered by a man dressed like a cowboy.

“First, our departure ensured the hostages’ rescue.”

“Second, it minimized the chances of a potential ambush.”

“Third, the enemy could take this time to do something else.”

Seeing that she still didn’t quite understand, Jason, while guiding the plane for landing, added in a faint tone, “We’ve yet to hear any news from the mercenaries.”

At this point, Constantine finally understood the enemy’s intentions.

The lack of news from the mercenaries meant the fake commander had been exposed. This likely meant they would soon face a counterattack from Team Fury.

The enemy had not left because they were waiting to deal with them in collaboration with the mercenaries.

“I killed Veep, and now there’s the issue with the fake commander. New grudges and old ones combined—just waiting for accurate intelligence, and those mercenaries will be on us.”

Rubbing her temples, Constantine knew she had a lot to learn. Her grasp of the situation was far from that of these seasoned operatives.

But it was fine. Things she didn’t understand, she could always learn. The real question now was whether they should retreat temporarily.

Several so-called ‘elite’ combatants had been slaughtered, and Constantine was starting to seriously doubt the true strength of these second-tier combatants.

Seemingly reading her thoughts, Jason smiled faintly and made no attempt to explain, not even showing any intention to join the battle himself.

Constantine had great talent, but she was clearly still far from being part of the Orphanage’s inner circle. Many of the core secrets were completely out of her reach.

The Orphanage hadn’t made it this far thanks to the talents of any single reincarnator. Rather, it was the result of countless scientists’ relentless experiments and advancements.

“Let’s get started,” Jason issued the order to attack.

The hatch opened, and various clone soldiers of different forms stepped into the battlefield.

“These people are…” Constantine was a bit confused. She had thought that the second transport plane would be filled with soldiers cloned from Kyo Kusanagi.

It now seemed that these bastards were keeping a lot of secrets from her.

Perhaps trying to reassure her, Jason, as the leader, calmly admitted, “Yes, The King of Fighters is a major project, but that doesn’t mean we’ve done nothing in other worlds.”

“What you’re about to see is the foundation of our dominance over space.”

“The enemy’s here,” Fang Bo’s expression turned serious.

This was his first direct confrontation with the Orphanage.

Given the enemy’s attempts to control the Serpent’s Blood, they were undoubtedly equipped with powerful “weapons.” The purpose of this battle was to test the waters.

According to the information from Harland, the mercenaries’ transport planes would arrive in thirty minutes.

Once they arrived, a combined assault would likely force the enemy to reveal their trump cards.

With a simple flip of his hand, an enticingly fragrant meal appeared before him.

Golden Cuisine: +5 to all attributes, lasts for 30 minutes, with a randomly attached negative status.

For safety’s sake, Fang Bo consumed the most valuable enhancement potion he had on hand, though he wasn’t sure what negative status might come with it.

Health: 420/420 (+230)

Status: Healthy
Strength: 33 (+14)
Constitution: 30 (+11)
Agility: 30 (+11)
Mental: 41 (+22)
Perception: 30 (+11)

[You have gained the special status “Cold and Flu.” This effect cannot be dispelled or cured. Duration: 30 minutes.]

“What’s this?” Before Fang Bo could fully understand the situation, his head uncontrollably tilted back slightly.

Achoo!

Olsen, who was standing beside him, immediately turned his head. His eyes were filled with a strange look. “A reincarnator can get a cold? Now that’s unprecedented.”

Fang Bo sniffed hard, a bit speechless. Who would have thought such a thing would happen? If he had known, he might have skipped the damned Golden Cuisine.

Seeing the serious expression on his comrade’s face, Fang Bo casually offered the other Golden Cuisine.

“Want some?”

“…?” Olsen hesitated for a moment, then shook his head in refusal. He pulled out a can from his pocket and began eating it greedily.

Spinach of Popeye: +6 Strength, +10% physical damage, increases priority for strength-based actions. Duration: 30 minutes.

This was his trump card, a special item that could turn the tide if used correctly.

Although it wasn’t as versatile as the Golden Cuisine, it had no obvious side effects and wouldn’t cause him to make mistakes at critical moments.

For a speed-based expert like Olsen, offensive efficiency was far more important than attack frequency.

When he struck, it had to be decisive; otherwise, it was just a waste of time.

“Careful!”

Just then, a barrage of energy projectiles suddenly filled the entire sky.

The attack came without warning, making it clear that the person behind it was extraordinarily powerful.

Luckily, Fang Bo’s Perception had reached 30, allowing him to detect the anomaly immediately.

Golden ripples shimmered, and his Silver Frost Tower Shield materialized in front of him.

Ice Barrier, activate!

A massive ice wall appeared in front of the two, followed by a rapid series of dense impacts.

The durability of the ice wall dropped quickly, but it successfully fulfilled its mission, protecting both of them and the ghost spiders behind them from any harm.

“These enemies seem a bit different,” Fang Bo observed, studying the attackers.

Mechanical Clones (Prototype Model)

Attack Inclination: Strong
Attribute Inclination: Mental, Strength, Agility
Traits: Iron Body, Memory Chip

Threat Assessment: Weak

Iron Body: The entire body is made of steel-like components, granting +20% physical damage reduction and +70% energy damage reduction.

Memory Chip: Contains a special memory chip storing combat-related data.

It was obvious that these soldiers were vastly different from the clones of Nests.

Rather than clones, they were better described as pure robotic warriors.

However, Fang Bo soon realized that these mechanical clones also contained some biological tissue within them.

“I like this kind of scene,” the woman known as Roku Shinpu raised her hands, and seven exquisitely crafted energy spiders formed at the center of her palms.

Before the Ghost Spiders could make contact with the enemy, she preemptively unleashed a crowd control skill, though its effects were less than stellar.

Roku Shinpu’s Skill “Heart-Eating Bite” hits the target, dealing 34 points of bite damage.
Attack triggers Spider Mark, dealing an additional 4 points of damage.
Skill effect activates, causing the target to be stunned for 5 seconds.

Seven targets were hit, but only two were successfully stunned.

What seemed to be a powerful crowd control skill had now turned into just a way to clear out small mobs.

Almost instantly after the skill landed, the Killing Spider Guards shot forward like phantoms, reaching the enemy in the blink of an eye.

With their spider blades flashing, they left an X-shaped wound on the chest of the enemy.

Killing Spider Guard’s poison needle hits, dealing 25 + 16 points of piercing damage.
Target is poisoned, taking 2 points of damage per second for 10 seconds.

The fact that they could be poisoned indicated that the enemies’ bodies contained some flesh and blood.

“It’s good they can be poisoned. Otherwise, the Ghost Spiders’ combat effectiveness would have dropped by at least seventy percent,” Fang Bo muttered.

But what happened next greatly surprised him.

One of the mechanical clones raised its arm and aimed at a Ghost Spider, adopting a shooting stance.

A faint spiritual light gathered, and then it shot straight through the giant spider’s heart.

Killing Spider Guard takes a spiritual pellet attack, dealing 92 points of critical damage.

A single critical strike nearly incapacitated the third-tier Ghost Spider.

What was most alarming was that the clone used a technique that didn’t belong to the King of Fighters world at all.

Strange soldiers were not limited to just this one.

Fang Bo’s eyes widened as a young-looking mechanical clone drew a fishing rod-like weapon from behind its back.

With a flick of his wrist, the ball at the end of the rod immediately shot forward, catching up to an enemy that was retreating.

There was a loud smack, and the Ghost Spider’s head was instantly crushed like a watermelon, its body turning to ash as it vanished into thin air.

With its bizarre attacking style, the mechanical clone successfully struck down a Killing Spider Guard.

However, its fate wasn’t much better.

Taking advantage of the momentary gap in its attack, two other Spider Guards charged at it.

The mechanical clone suffered over ninety points of damage and an additional forty points of poison damage before it collapsed to the ground.

“These guys are looking kind of strange,” Fang Bo commented as he retrieved two puppets from his bag.

After all, these soldiers were made of mechanical parts, and maybe the Wind Shadow Puppet’s magnetic repulsion could provide a countermeasure.

Unfortunately, his hopes were quickly dashed when he realized that the metal inside these damn mechanical clones wasn’t affected by magnetic forces.

“It looks like the enemy was prepared for this,” he said, frustrated.

There was no choice now; they would have to go in hard.

Magnetic Repulsion: Sand Iron Rain!

He summoned waves of sand and iron that resembled the sea, and as the Ghost Spiders retreated, the attack was unleashed.

Countless tiny needles pierced through the enemies’ bodies. The range of the sand iron attack was massive, and most of the mechanical clones couldn’t avoid it.

While it didn’t deal fatal damage, it effectively reduced the enemies’ health.

With their health lowered, the Ghost Spiders’ follow-up attacks became much easier.

Looking up at another transport plane, Fang Bo saw that Gonitz was engaged in a standoff with the enemy.

Her storm-like power was enough to not worry about her safety for now.

With that in mind, Fang Bo decided to focus on finishing off the enemies here quickly.

“Cover me!”

With that single command, Olsen almost instantly appeared in the middle of the enemy group.

It wasn’t teleportation; his unique speed was simply too fast.

His right hand, clad in a mechanical glove, clenched tightly, and a surge of red flame instantly engulfed the surrounding soldiers.

What followed was an impressive display of speed-based combat.

Olsen’s figure shifted unpredictably, resembling a venomous snake as he quickly descended and rose, weaving through the enemy ranks with deadly precision.

It seemed as though even the air itself was in turmoil with his movements.

Olsen’s speed was so fast that, even with Fang Bo’s heightened perception, he could only make out a blur of lights and shadows.

This was without using the Serpent’s power. If Olsen had activated his hidden card, his speed would be even more terrifying.

“His Agility attribute must be over 40, this guy’s not bad at all,” Fang Bo thought to himself.

No wonder he was once the top fighter of the Orphanage. Olsen’s talent and prowess were undeniable.

Thanks to his rapid movements, the battlefield gradually tilted in their favor.

Not wanting to waste any more time, Fang Bo decided to continue using AOE skills to further pressure the mechanical soldiers.

At that moment, however, he suddenly felt a chill, as if he were a traveler in a forest being hunted by a pack of wolves.

A figure silently landed on the battlefield, moving with such speed that it was almost on par with Olsen.
