RWWOKS Chapter 246

This entry is part 247 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

“Hmph, this is truly embarrassing.”

Inside the player’s box, the voice of Geese Howard echoed, filled with rage.

It was no wonder. The Hell’s League team had performed terribly, and from the start of the match, it had been a one-sided slaughter.

K9999 struck with overwhelming force, easily defeating Chris, the Flame of Fate, and then toyed with Shalourme, casually manipulating him like a puppet.

In less than ten minutes, K9999 had already taken down two of the Kings, and now he was locked in a tough struggle with the strongest of them all, Terry Bogard, the “Dry Earth,” Seven Kasumi.

After two rounds of intense fighting, K9999‘s condition had significantly deteriorated, and he was currently at a standstill with Seven Kasumi.

Originally, many knowledgeable fighters had been nervous, fearing that the situation would devolve into something like the 1996-1997 debacles.

However, upon closer inspection, the Heavenly Clan members were not nearly as fearsome as the Nests Team. Many spectators thought these relics from a bygone era simply couldn’t keep up with the current trends.

The murmurs and discussions only fueled Geese’s fury. To her, the Hell’s League team could perish, but they must not tarnish the Father God’s reputation.

“If the rules allowed, I’d be on that stage right now, showing the world that the Heavenly Clan is forever superior to humans,” she muttered, barely able to contain her anger.

“Next time, I’ll come to your aid,” Geese suddenly said, catching everyone off guard.

With Kyo Kusanagi not on the field, she, of course, had no intention of wasting her time battling with those mere human fighters.

“Only seven seconds to assist?” she mused. “Perfect. They only deserve seven seconds of my attention anyway.”

Whatever Kyo Kusanagi could do, she was more than capable of as well.

“Looks like a strange sense of rivalry is creeping in,” Fang Bo mused, stroking his chin, wondering if he could take advantage of the three-way struggle.

On the arena, K9999 was laughing maniacally, his modified arm transforming into an enormous spiral spike.

“Die!!!”

Seven Kasumi, covered in blood and barely standing, continued to fight, defending the dignity of the Eight Kings.

Unfortunately, he was no longer the same man from 1997.

The power he extracted from the earth wasn’t even close to the level of Terry, let alone matching the might of K9999.

No matter how one looked at it, K9999 was one of the most important supporting characters in the Nests arc, always positioned in the top tier of strength, contributing many memorable moments to the final battle.

From any angle, the Hell’s League team’s defeat was inevitable.

In the King of Fighters Tournament’s seventh match, the Nests Team easily completed a one-vs-three victory.

After the match, the crowd erupted in cheers, chanting K9999‘s name. His smile grew even more uncontrollably wild.

Suddenly, he made a throat-slitting gesture towards the player box, which only intensified the crowd’s excitement.

As the target of his provocation, K’ slowly raised his thumb, then pointed to the ground beneath him.

The tension between them was about to reach its boiling point.

Watching this, Iori Yagami narrowed his eyes slightly. Anyone who knew him well could tell that he was not in a good mood.

Back when Iori was not yet fully recovered, he had a brief encounter with K9999.

The outcome was needless to mention, but now he was eager to settle the score personally.

“If I face the Nests Team, I’ll be the first to step up,” Iori declared.

As the atmosphere grew more intense, the final match of the first round quickly began.

King of Fighters Tournament, Match 8: Thieves’ Team vs. Rivalry Team!

The former was relatively unknown, consisting mostly of members from the Thieves Clan, while the latter was a completely different story.

When Rugal Bernstein and Geese Howard appeared together, many of the fighters in the arena couldn’t help but stand up in shock.

“That bastard,” Gray clenched his fists, wishing he could personally step into the ring and give Geese a beating.

The crimes committed by Rugal were even worse. At least five fighters in the arena showed obvious murderous intent toward him.

The third member of the team wasn’t well-known, but for the Thieves Clan, this was a highly anticipated match. Their goal for entering the tournament was clear: to deal with the traitor of the Thieves Clan, Dragon.

This battle was perfectly aligned with their intentions.

As for the last member of the team, when the black cloak was removed, both K’ and Maxima froze.

“K’, didn’t you kill him?” Maxima asked in shock.

The final member of the Rivalry Team was none other than KOF ’99‘s final boss, Igniz.

“I don’t know,” K’ shook his head, his gaze hidden behind his sunglasses. “Probably a clone or something. Doesn’t matter—if it’s him, I’ll just kill him again.”

The Rivalry Team consisted of Omega Rugal, Igniz, Nightmare Geese, and Dragon, making it one of the most fearsome teams in the tournament.

Fang Bo thought they should consider changing their name to “BOSS Team”, as it seemed more fitting.

“Everyone who should be dead is alive again. Someone’s definitely up to something behind the scenes,” Fang Bo mused.

At that moment, he finally understood why Rugal had so much confidence—he was backed by three powerful allies.

If these teams were to clash, even the Savage Team would struggle to come out on top.

In the end, if the two teams faced each other, Fang Bo might be pushed to the sidelines as an assist player.

He suspected that none of the others would count on him, all of them hoping to rely on their own strength to defeat their opponents.

If he could win passively, that would be great, but Fang Bo still enjoyed the chaos of the slaughter.

“We, the Savage Team, are just too awesome,” he couldn’t help but admire.

Meanwhile, the battle in the arena continued to turn in favor of Rugal.

The power of Omega Rugal was overwhelming, as he easily dispatched the first member of the Thieves’ Team.

It looked like this would once again be a one-sided beatdown.

[Rugal Bernstein (Omega)]

Attack Type: Medium

Attribute Focus: Physique, Strength, Mental Power

Traits: Orochi Bloodline (Legendary), Natural Genius

Threat Level: Extremely Dangerous

“Seems like his power hasn’t changed much since his resurrection,” Fang Bo commented.

He had expected Rugal to transform into something like a Super Saiyan, but from what he saw, he was still far from the level of Kyo Kusanagi.

Perhaps, as Rugal himself had said, only by absorbing Orochi’s blood could he evolve further?

The problem was, without even a mission to generate for him, it was hard to help him with anything.

As for Rugal’s claim to handle the Nests, no one knew the real situation. The man was a true tyrant, with little regard for keeping promises.

In contrast, Geese had a far better reputation, despite his ruthlessness. He never went after Terry or Ryo Sakazaki’s families or friends unless absolutely necessary.

It wasn’t just that he couldn’t win, but also because of a promise made by a notorious gang leader.

Aside from these reasons, there was another why Fang Bo valued the enemy.

[Geese Howard (Legendary Villain)]

Attack Tendency: High
Attribute Tendency: Strength, Mental Power, Physique
Traits: Unyielding, Nightmare Power (Legendary)
Threat Assessment: Extremely Deadly

With the awakening of Nightmare Power, Geese Howard now possessed the terrifying strength to rival Iori Yagami and Kyo Kusanagi.

Of course, perceiving information isn’t the same as actual combat; it only gives a rough comparison range.

When the fight actually began, perhaps Nightmare Geese would be just another opponent who could be instantly wiped out.

Fang Bo couldn’t help but wonder: if he killed him again, would a second vial of Nightmare Power be released?

If he were to consume it, would the boost to his Nightmare form be even stronger?

“It’s worth trying…” he thought.

It was a good idea, but unfortunately, the practical viability was almost zero.

At Geese’s current strength, he could almost certainly eliminate Fang Bo in a split second.

To act, he would have to rely on the three big shots in his team.

The problem was, Fang Bo couldn’t draw on their abilities and had no way to create the right opportunity for a solo kill.

With a hint of regret, he shifted his gaze away, extinguishing the thought of taking down Geese for now.

“Don’t let the small things ruin the bigger picture; the destruction of the Nests is the most crucial task.”

[Winner: New Rivalry Team!!!]

As Fang Bo was deep in thought, Rugal Bernstein effortlessly crushed his opponents one by one with his overwhelming strength.

He had sustained some injuries, but for Rugal, minor fatal wounds were nothing.

“Impressive technique,” he said, his one eye glowing crimson as he tilted his head, looking down on the defeated Thieves Clan with contempt.

With his Natural Genius trait, Rugal had successfully learned many of their deadly techniques.

If they fought again, he would defeat them in an even shorter time.

Ignoring the defeated foes, his gaze shifted, the evil gleam in his eye now directed at a particular spot in the player’s box.

Even though there was a glass wall separating them, Fang Bo could still clearly feel that Rugal was looking directly at him.

“Can’t wait, huh?” he muttered to himself, beginning to analyze the pros and cons of the situation.

The existence of the Hell’s League team, frankly speaking, felt more like a ticking time bomb for his own side.

In terms of battle power, they couldn’t even beat K9999. When the final showdown came, these three wouldn’t be able to make much of a difference.

On the other hand, if the Orochi power went out of control, the Eight Kings could easily become enemies at any moment.

Helping them achieve world destruction?

Then, whether it was Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, or any of the experts from the Nests, all of them would immediately become part of the opposing team.

That path was impossible, and it would also cost them some of their strongest generals.

Moreover, Fang Bo still had the Storm of Fate mission on his plate.

Though the chances of success were slim, he couldn’t help but feel the need to try.

If he succeeded, then Geese Howard would become his most loyal follower.

From that point on, he could make her do anything—go east when he says so, wear black stockings but never white socks.

For such powerful backup, Fang Bo was determined to give it a shot, no matter what.

The first day of the tournament had ended, and the eight teams had successfully advanced to the second round.

K’ Team, Female Fighters Team, Jason Team, Savage Team, Psychic Warriors Team, Fatal Fury Team, Nests Team, New Rivalry Team.

Soon, the organizers would announce the detailed matchups.

The contestants would rest for the night, and the second round would begin tomorrow at the same time.

“Finally over,” Fang Bo sighed, stretching his tired limbs. He had worked himself to the bone today.

While treating the fighters, he had to take the stage for a triple-threat himself, making him the busiest person at the whole venue.

But rewards came with effort, and at least he had saved a few thousand Plot Points today.

If he had the chance, honestly, Fang Bo wanted to improve his ability to fight with weapons.

With so many relics in his possession, there would definitely be more opportunities for weapon-based combat.

Unarmed Combat specialization was something he could level up a few more times without much effort, and he didn’t need to copy ultimate moves like Divine Dust or Dragon-Sky Rampage, since there weren’t many situations where he would use them.

On the other hand, Weapon Combat was a basic skill for most fighters.

Though it might not surpass those who specialized in it, the foundational abilities were something he could easily master. He could start by maxing out Basic Swordsmanship.

Despite its name, Swordsmanship was actually a broad term, and it applied to all edged weapons, whether it be a sword, a butcher’s cleaver, or something else.

With it, Fang Bo would be much more proficient in close combat.

“Looks like tomorrow is going to be another hectic day.”

Soon, the second-round matchups were announced, and some teams were elated, while others were worried.

Match 1: Jason Team vs. Psychic Warriors Team

Match 2: Fatal Fury Team vs. Nests Team

Match 3: Female Fighters Team vs. New Rivalry Team

Match 4: K’ Team vs. Savage Team

The Savage Team, where Fang Bo was placed, was set to face the K’ Team, which was made up of the main plot characters.
