- The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline
- RWWOKS Chapter 27
**Chapter 27: The Fierce Boarding Battle**
The two sides, engaged in a fierce exchange of cannon fire, were quickly distracted by a figure soaring into the sky.
At that moment, Fang Bo, using gas propulsion, broke free from the pull of gravity, flying freely like a bird released from its cage.
Waves splashed up, and his agile movements through the air seemed to compose a romantic waltz.
Weaving through a storm of bullets, a thrilling sensation shot through him like lightning, igniting every cell in his body.
Fang Bo’s hair whipped wildly in the wind as he locked his gaze on the enemy ship drawing closer. Bullets exploded into red sprays of blood across his body.
[You were hit by a musket shot, suffering 8 points of piercing damage.]
[You were critically hit by a flintlock, suffering 14 + 6 points of piercing damage.]
[You were hit by a musket critical shot, suffering 10 points of piercing damage.]
Health: 58/96 (+26)
In an instant, Fang Bo had lost over 40 points of health. If not for his incredible speed, a second’s hesitation could have meant his death.
But, he had made it.
Reaching the starboard side of the ship, he used his grappling hook to anchor himself securely and took a swig of strong rum from his flask.
[You drink strong rum. Your health increases by 20. Constitution +1.]
Health: 88/106 (+36)
Now near full strength, the next crucial step was launching the cannonballs.
Pressing the gas controller hard, Fang Bo rocketed upward, rising to the same height as the lookout tower.
Seeing the terrified lookout, Fang Bo gave him a friendly smile before using the rotational force from his maneuver gear to hurl all the cannonballs from his bag.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In an instant, the enemy ship was engulfed in flames, the main mast crashing into the deck with a thunderous roar.
[Legendary Trait (Steel Heart) activated, Health +1.]
[Legendary Trait (Steel Heart) activated, Health +2.]
[Legendary Trait (Steel Heart) activated, Health +1.]
[Legendary Trait (Steel Heart) activated, Health +1.]
Four consecutive notifications sounded, marking the success of his recent attack.
Only 9 points of health remained to reach the world’s enhancement cap. If luck was on his side, this battle might max out his talents.
On the roof of the captain’s quarters, Fang Bo took advantage of the high ground, using his pistol to engage in gunfire with the enemy.
His firepower was lacking, but his goal wasn’t to kill—he was drawing as much enemy fire as possible to help his pirate crew.
With the ship’s body as cover, as long as he didn’t stand up recklessly and spray bullets, the pirates below had no way to deal with him.
The mast’s collapse meant the enemy ship had lost all mobility. Despite their desperate resistance, within five minutes, the Bezan Black loomed beside them.
“Kill them all!!!” Butchi, the big man, charged at the enemy like a crazed pig escaping its pen.
His sharp, sturdy claws sliced through the enemy like a scythe through wheat.
But his triumph was short-lived. The enemy also had skilled fighters, and soon one stepped forward to block Butchi’s rampage.
Meanwhile, other members of the Black Cat Pirates had fallen to enemy gunfire. The two ships were too close, and pirates climbing the ropes were easy targets.
In this situation, the best solution was for someone to step up and hold the line. Just a brief delay would allow the pirates to board the enemy ship.
The ideal candidate was none other than Captain Kuro, with his 16 million bounty.
Yet true to his cold-hearted reputation, the captain remained unfazed by his crew’s deaths. He stood alone on the deck, polishing his Cat Claw gloves, showing no intention of intervening.
In the end, it was the first mate, Jango, who acted. He leapt onto the enemy ship’s bow, spinning his round saw suspended by a thin string.
“One, two, Jango!”
With a flick of his hat brim, a large swath of enemy pirates fell under the spell of hypnosis.
Although the range was limited, it was enough to hold out until reinforcements arrived.
The moment the first Black Cat pirate set foot on the deck, the two sides clashed in a fierce melee.
Observing closely, Fang Bo noticed that all members of the Black Cat Pirates fought with incredible speed.
Even the bulky Butchi left afterimages as he moved, let alone the combatant Sam, who was naturally skilled in speed.
“It’s time.” Fang Bo jumped from the rooftop, landing lightly on the rear deck of the ship.
He eyed an enemy with his back turned. Pulling out his Black Star pistol, Fang Bo pressed it against the man’s temple and fired three quick shots.
[Legendary Trait (Steel Heart) activated, Health +1.]
“Eight points to go.”
Fang Bo kicked open the bulkhead of the cabin and jumped inside, intending to search for any valuable loot.
As for why he didn’t go straight to the captain’s quarters, it was too conspicuous. Even if there were treasures there, it wouldn’t necessarily end up in his pocket. It’s always safer to make a fortune quietly—at least there wouldn’t be any unexpected competitors.
Of course, if something dangerous happened, Fang Bo would have to deal with it alone.
“Don’t move!” After only a few steps, a black muzzle appeared from the side.
Holding the gun was a young man. It was clear he was terrified—likely a rookie who hadn’t been on the ship for long.
The young man didn’t intend to kill, just wanted to temporarily subdue this unexpected intruder. But little did he know, with his limited agility, he couldn’t escape Fang Bo’s keen perception.
Bang!
The already-aimed gun fired, and the bullet pierced the young man’s forehead. He was instantly critically injured, on the verge of death.
Just as Fang Bo was about to finish him off, his forehead suddenly twitched violently. Without thinking, he threw himself to the side.
A split second later, a bullet struck the exact spot where he had just stood.
Thinking he had dodged the ambush, Fang Bo was shocked when the surface where the bullet had hit began to ripple like water. To his astonishment, the bullet rebounded off the ground and hit the side of his thigh.
[You were shot by No. 12047, suffering 18 points of piercing damage.]
[Special bullet effect activated. You are now bleeding, losing 1 health point every 5 seconds for 60 seconds.]
[You are affected by an unknown toxin, reducing your Constitution by 1 and losing 2 health points per second for 10 seconds.]
[Refraction talent activated. Attack damage increased by an additional 2 points.]
Disregarding the reduced Constitution, the enemy had inflicted a total of 52 points of damage in the next 60 seconds with just one bullet.
This was the terror of a seasoned gunman and why, despite knowing their fragility, many couldn’t resist the allure of walking this dangerous path.
As for the one who shot him, the combat log was clear—the enemy was a fellow reincarnator, and likely an old acquaintance.
“So, you finally couldn’t resist, Piglet.”
Hearing his voice, a helpless chuckle came from the door. “Old Cat warned me, said you were hiding something deep, but I never expected a 70-point bullet wouldn’t finish you.”
In the pursuit of high damage, bullets were where the investment went. In other words, a gunman’s power largely depended on the thickness of his wallet.
With a few dozen of those bullets, Piglet could have taken out the entire pirate crew single-handedly.
As he calmly reloaded his gun, Piglet curiously asked, “Jason, aren’t you going to make a move?”
Taking a swig of strong rum and watching his health gradually recover, Fang Bo smiled and replied, “I’m waiting for my health to recover. What are you waiting for?”
“He’s waiting for me.” A familiar sigh echoed as Old Cat’s figure appeared at the door.
Flexing his mechanical arm, Old Cat’s face was full of regret. “I actually liked you. Really, you have an extraordinary sense of observation, and I truly understand how valuable that is.”
“But it’s a pity—you didn’t want to team up with anyone. I’ve given you so many hints, yet you ignored every single one.”
As he spoke, anger began to twist his face, the once friendly facade vanishing, replaced by deep resentment.
“No one can reject me. Everyone who looks down on me has to die. They did, and so will you.”
Slowly raising his mechanical hand, Old Cat’s expression became sinister, filled with mockery. “Remember when I used this trick in the tavern? I was hoping to have the Navy kill you back then, but you managed to slip away.”
“And one last thing—Piglet has been my man all along. From the start, you’ve been caught in my web.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a surge of gunfire erupted, but it was blocked by a figure that appeared out of nowhere.
Roar!
Tutu let out a thunderous roar, standing like an immovable rock in front of his master, shielding him from all enemy attacks.
Meanwhile, Number One was already leaping toward a stunned Piglet.
With a Strength stat of 12, Piglet wasn’t particularly powerful, but it was certainly stronger than Piglet, who specialized in gunner skills.
Without any suspense, Piglet was tackled to the ground, receiving a heavy punch to the stomach.
Knowing he was on the edge of life and death, Piglet wasted no time, firing a special bullet that blasted through Number One’s chest.
Despite its gruesome appearance, the shot wasn’t enough to kill the giant, who still had 80 health points left.
Quickly glancing at the combat log and ignoring Number One’s frenzied attacks, Piglet fired his last special bullet.
A shot to the head, nearly 60 points of damage, should have been enough to finish him off.
That was how it should have gone, but then Piglet noticed the grotesque giant’s head was rapidly regenerating.
“Heal!”
Fang Bo’s figure appeared behind, using his healing ability to save his summoned creature.
“Goodbye.” In Piglet’s despairing gaze, Number One bit off his head.
